- "Very beautiful. Would recommend." - "Sooo I’ve stayed here many times in the last five years, however this was the first time Ibwas ever disrespected at check in. The attendant at the desk was very curt and rude when my husband and tried to check in on 12/30. My husband was parking the car while I checked us in, his name was on the reservation for us both but she insisted on him presenting his ID to start the check in process. She made a snide remark about me being a security risk and when he arrived, she asked him “do you want to add “her” to the reservation” as though we weren’t husband and wife and as though I wasn’t standing right there. Then she proceeded to over charge our card causing our funds to be suspended and then when she tried to run the correct amount it declined. It was the cusp of a holiday on a Sunday, the banks closed at 1pm - Monday. We couldn’t cancel at this point and had already drove over 100 miles. I finally called for a manager because she tried to make it seem like it was our fault but she clearly had a chip on her shoulder and didn’t want to admit to her mistake and rude demeanor. I was offended and embarrassed. Although the manger remedied the situation, I couldn’t rest. I was so angry My husband had to help get past it and pray for her. So I decided to bless her with a gift card from Starbucks and just let her know she’s forgiven. The hotel in and of itself is amazing, I refuse to let one little pion of a desk clerk ruin my stay or keep me from my favorite hotel."

" - "It was our second stay here and it did not disappoint! Quick and easy check in and check out process. Distance to the beach is literally in minutes walking. Sound isolation is great when you close the doors. Facilities very clean and make the most of the space. Also comes with a microwave, coffee maker (Keurig), and mini fridge. Will stay here again. Now, there is an issue with the south garage that should be fixed. The concrete is lifted/raised before you enter the declined entrance into the under building garage. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem for cars with extra clearance and if there wasn’t such a steep decline. However, for normal sedans and compacts with standard clearance, you will scratch your undercarriage and skid plate. In my case, it was a Tesla model 3 with stock suspension and height. On the way out, that raised concrete scraped the entire skid plate. I would strongly advise fixing this on Wayfarer’s end as this was something I was worried about on our second trip. Otherwise, great place and highly recommend it. "

- "Amazingly trip!" - "Our first time here for staycation to visit family. The hotel is perfectly located with every room having at least a partial ocean view. I booked two suites hoping to get connecting or adjoining rooms but didn't know that there were only 2 of the suite types per floor and ended up on two different floors. Rooms were large and very clean. Jacuzzi tub was a hit with everyone who got to use it. Requested crib and electric kettle. Crib mattress had stains on it and the glass kettle was cracked. Both were replaced immediately on request. We had a great time in the heated pool in December and took advantage of the beach equipment rental for chairs and toys. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance and we ate a couple times in the hotel restaurant which was pretty good. There was cleaning service everyday without having to request. Staff were very courteous and welcoming. Self park and valet both available for same price. Garage is accessible by elevator and very convenient. We had planned to do more in SD but decided to spend most of our time in and around the hotel."

When you first drive up, you may notice a painter's truck, a camper, etc. We will make room for your car, to drop off your bags once you arrive. Parking can be challenging sometimes. You may have to walk a block to park. Our place looks different, it has been certified as a Wildlife habitat. For birds, lizards, etc. We want to invite those that enjoy this type of lifestyle. Susie practices silent gardening, no mowers, blowers or poison. Marcelo cooks real food, not boxed, from whole fish, to soup, salad, we use most everything from scratch. There is availability as a house-share in a private room and mostly private bathroom. The kitchen is usually bustling with activity, no microwave, but a convection oven, or gas stovetop is available, just let us know if you have special cooking needs.

Outside you can hear the birds chirp, interact with our chickens, cook a steak on the barbecue, or just relax in our low-manicured California natives garden. Summertime the natives have gone to seed, dry, in their natural state in the drought. (just a heads up if you are expecting a green lawn:)

Outside, many sustainable upgrades have been installed, like rain-water storage tanks, there's a solar outside shower, we use passive solar attic fans, and the kitchen-dining area is brightened with a solatube.

The neighborhood is central to the beaches, Old-town, Balboa park, etc and the area is safe and secure.

We have years of experience in Meditation and the Healing Arts... Marcelo enjoys riding his bike to the park. Susie enjoys martial arts and trains in self defense.

Guest access
The bathroom is right next to your room. You may cook in the kitchen, or outside, (and clean-up after yourself), enjoy the back-yard with its barbecue, wild-life, myriad colors and sounds. The kitchen can get busy, we usually work with guests so that we all can have a little space when needed. Please bring your indoor slippers, or flip flops to help keep our home fresh for years to come!

During your stay
We pretty-much play it by ear. We'll be respectful of your space, but won't ignore your warmth and conversation if you so desire! We do get busy, so if you need something, you may have to text us, find us in the garden, leave us a note ...

Other things to note
We ask no spraying of strong chemicals inside the house: ie no use of perfumes, colognes.(Marcelo is sensitive to these types of products) Essential oils are welcome and encouraged. Please inquire if you are not sure.

Cute home in a quiet, safe neighborhood with a gated, large backyard with seating area and your own orange tree! You can utilize the full home and yard. You will be the only guest staying in the house.

One room with double bed. Also a cot, a floor mattress and long couch are available for sleeping for a total of 5 guests if needed.

Easy parking in front of the garage (3 parking spaces) and additional spaces on street.

Located in the wonderful town of La Mesa, which is adjacent to the City of San Diego. Three blocks from Interstate 8 access and 20 minutes to most visited tourist spots, including Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park and both downtown and the beach. Walking distance or very short drive to great local spots Lake Murray Regional Park, Mission Trails Golf Course, Cowles Mt. - Fortuna Mt. Regional Park (great hiking/biking/ running) and also a short drive out to San Diego's fantastic mountains, camping and wilderness areas to the east. 5 minute walk to Starbucks, Lake Murray BBQ Cafe, Antica Trattoria - 4 1/2 star Italian restaurant and many other restaurants and fast food places, Yogurt shop, and Vons. Grossmont regional shopping center, Costco, Target, Trader Joe's and La Mesa's wonderful walkable downtown, filled with small shops and diverse eateries, are all within 10 minute driving distance.

You may use the whole house, including kitchen. Yard is available, except for some non-maintained areas in backyard including old play equipment.

-You have a bathroom key inside your bedroom door if you want to lock it.

-Quiet time is 10:00 pm. to 7:00 am.

- We prefer 2 -3 guests each room, if extra adults are with you, please let us know ahead.

-If you need to have friends or family come over, please notify us ahead of time. And Please don't stay longer then 11 pm.

-Please remember to turn off your lights or other electric devices and water before you go out for safety and energy saving.

- Please limit number of electrical devices such as blenders, microwave, etc. being used at same time to protect load on circuits.

- Cot and mattress is available in closet with pillow and blankets..

- Rules for Pets : We do charge a small fee for pets, please no pet on sofas, bed or furniture anytime. No pet pee or poop anywhere inside the house. And please feed the pet outside of the house.


-Rules for bathroom: please pickup any hair and rinse out the sinks or bath tub after use. Clean counter top if there is water on it.

Don’t use shower towels to wipe or clean other places.

Host may move garbage cans to street or back in front of garage during your stay. Also, host may water plants in front yard if stay is one week or longer during warm weather We will not knock on front door or bother our guests and will only be there a maximum of 10 minutes.

room very close to everything. 1mi from Walmart, restaurants, many Amenities close. Bus is 3min walk away. Airport 20min drive from home. Balboa park and university 12mins. Beach 20mins away depending on which beach u go to. Restroom is shared with roommate and me. Parking is on street area. Sometimes it may take time to find a spot. kitchen is for use clean after yourself.

The space
Small, 4 bedroom house in College area/College Grove. Quiet neighborhood. Desert theme, low maintenance, low water front yard. Large back patio but no access to upper yard as it is not developed. Bedrooms are large with dresser, desk, large closet, coffee, fridge, TV. Three rooms access the back patio directly. House is very clean, quiet and peaceful. Owner lives on premises and is retired. No pets on the property.

Guest access
Guests have their room, shared bathroom, laundry room and large back patio. Kitchen use is restricted to the sink and filtered water and ice in the large gray fridge, bottom shelf is icemaker. No cooking or stove privileges. The living room is not a shared space.

During your stay
I am retired and though I am usually available for meet and greet, that may not always be the case. If it happens that I cannot be home when guests check in, I have a lock box on right side of front door with house key. I answer my phone and text messages when I am not home and can give code. I am responsive and home most of the time and at night. I am happy to answer any and all questions.

Other things to note
I have a lock box with house key on right side of front door in case I am not home. I can give you the code before you arrive. Each bedroom has it's own key also. The bedroom door key will be in the door handle upon your arrival.
