Spacious and charming apartment, overlooking a beautiful garden, tucked away behind craftsman-style house in the heart of historic North Park. The perfect location in walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, breweries and markets. Close to Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Downtown Coronado Beach, and Fashion Valley Mall.
Apartment is 600 sqft and has beautiful hardwood floors. It has large windows which provide lots of natural light and allow an air-flow and breeze. The unit also has a portable air conditioner for extra comfort during the warm summer months.
The bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed and is facing east allowing you to watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning. The living room is spacious and has a smart TV (access to local channels and Netflix). The kitchen is fully equipped. On the porch/entrance of the apartment is a small sitting area with a view of the courtyard garden and beautiful San Diego sunsets; a great spot to recharge after a day of walking, shopping, golfing, and spending time exploring one of the beautiful beaches or San Diego's many other attractions.

Neighborhood:
North Park is a historic/hip neighborhood with something for anyone's taste: art galleries, the North Park Observatory, great restaurants, coffee shops, little corner markets, several small breweries, scooter rentals and Morley Field park all in walking distance.

Less than a mile from the city Golf Course and 2 miles from the heart of Balboa Park with it’s wonderful Museums, Botanical Garden, Old Globe Theater and the world famous San Diego Zoo.

In just 10-15 minutes you can get to downtown, Little Italy, The Gas Lamp Quarter, Seaport Village, Convention Center, Fashion Valley shopping mall as well as Coronado and other beach communities.

The Space:
This 1 bedroom apartment is quite large, boasting 1000 square feet of living space. The upscale, 1/4 acre gated property has extensive landscaping with many retreat spaces to drink your coffee, take in the views and enjoy spectacular sunsets. Guest have access to the private, stainless steel hot tub spa that is located on the upper patio; with amazing views of the San Diego Harbor. Guests also enjoy the gas firepit area located on the lower level of the property; just steps from the apartment entrance. A Viking gas grill is available for grilling should guests wish to barbeque during their stay.

The living room / bedroom space has a queen size bed and an additional daybed that can be used as two twin beds or made into a king bed. Plenty of high quality pillows and linens are provided for your stay. The kitchen has all baking and cooking essentials; a Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods, traditional drip coffee maker, full size refrigerator / freezer, blender, kitchen aid mixer and all the essential kitchenware you could need: plates, bowls, glassware, utensils and so much more. NO matter the season, we have the weather for you. Enjoy sun splashed days in near perfect weather on our wrap around deck, or the poolside patio. We are near the beach, and near the San Diego bay, Sea World and The Zoo. The pool house environment welcomes outdoor style living inside a cool pool house. The rental is private and located on the first floor of a home occupied by the owner who lives on the second floor and is on site to help with anything. But be assured you have all the privacy you want and need.

I can't help but remember a comment from one of our guests who felt right at home in our pool house, He loved the easy California lifestyle that this rental affords whether lounging by the pool or enjoying our calming garden.

The Poolside guest house features a New A/C /Heater unit installed June 2024. Accommodations include 1 bedroom with a queen size bed, and 1 full bathroom. There is also a comfortable pull down Full Murphy Bed in the living room to accommodate up to four guests. The pool is heated with a solar blanket that provides heating when the sun is out especially from April-October.

Bankers Hill was among the first to be settled in San Diego. "Mr. Jones" starring Richard Gere was shot on site. A rare building indeed.!

There are four decks overlooking the bay and city and a large patio with tables, chairs and a barbecue grill for your use. There is also a very large kitchen which is available for use if you want to prepare a meal. We have a large study on the first floor across the hall from 106 where you can spread out and catch up on a little work if you wish.

***Square Footage***

All of the bungalows units are approximately 250 square feet / 23 square meters. They are best suited for solo travelers or pairs who are comfortable in small/cozy quarters.

***Murphy Beds***

Each bungalow is equipped with a queen-sized Murphy (wall) bed, which will be in the down position upon your arrival. The Murphy bed requires pulling and pushing the (fairly heavy) bed up and down if you want to store it when not in use.

When the Murphy bed is down, it blocks the entrance to the bathroom/wardrobe area (units 1531 and 1531 1/2) or patio (units 1525, 1527, 1529, 1533, 1535 and 1537) depending on the bungalow unit layout.

Guests traveling with children or infants should not permit them to sleep or play on or around the Murphy bed due to the possibility of injury.

***Parking***

Reservations at the bungalows do not include parking as there is no dedicated parking on the property. There are a number of third-party paid parking lots nearby, including an outdoor lot immediately next door (the LAZ Parking Union & Beech lot), and limited free street parking in the neighborhood.

The space
It's cute. It's quirky. It feels like a camp, but it's 100ft to the beach and in the middle of everything Ocean Beach and San Diego have to offer. Within 2 blocks of restaurants, bars, shops, yoga studios, fishing, and surfing. Take advantage of our kitchen for meals, or venture out and sample some awesome San Diego restaurants during your stay here! Start the morning off right with some coffee in the kitchen, or pick up coffee at one of the numerous neighborhood coffee stands and walk two blocks to the beach for a stroll as you watch the surf. We are blocks from some of San Diego's most iconic beach spots. Have a hamburger at Hodad's or get a scoop of ice cream between two flavored freshly made mini-waffles at Lighthouse. Also, eating at the quirky restaurant way out at the end of the Ocean Beach Pier is something that shouldn't be missed. Of course, there is a BBQ grill, and it's always a good time to cook out. After lunch, head back home and take a nap or relax on the deck. If you like shopping, you are virtually 10-20 minutes from any destination in the greater San Diego Metro area. I would suggest starting with the cool little shops a couple blocks away on Newport Ave for the original artwork. At night, you have a number of really incredible options. On one of the nights of your stay, you have to walk down the beach and have a bonfire in one of the beach fire pits. It's an absolute imperative... a must do beach experience. The smell and sound of the ocean, the feel of the sand, the smell of the fire, the taste of the s'mores...... We also have the restaurant Bo Beaujust a couple blocks away for a romantic dinner. Try the lobster risotto. ...and there are so many other great restaurants within walking distance: Kaiserhoff, OB Noodle House, etc For Touristy stuff... well, the beach is two blocks away. Step out on the sidewalk and look to your left. It's that blue thing where the land ends. SeaWorld is a five minute drive. The World Famous San Diego Zoo is a ten minute drive away. Disneyland is a ninety minute drive.
