The living room / bedroom space has a queen size bed and an additional daybed that can be used as two twin beds or made into a king bed. Plenty of high quality pillows and linens are provided for your stay. The kitchen has all baking and cooking essentials; a Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods, traditional drip coffee maker, full size refrigerator / freezer, blender, kitchen aid mixer and all the essential kitchenware you could need: plates, bowls, glassware, utensils and so much more. - "We chose this home for it's proximity to Little Italy/Gaslamp Qtr. While it is near, it was not exactly a short walking distance but nothing a quick Uber/Lyft couldn't accommodate! The rental was beautiful, crispy clean with super comfortable beds. The in-unit washer/dryer is very convenient and for the coffee drinkers in our group, the coffee bar was much appreciated! We hardly knew were near the airport flight path. The building access made us feel very safe. Also, although we didn't get a chance to visit, Balboa park IS withing walking distance just 1 block away. Parking is available, just notify the host, or try your luck with overnight parking at metered spots, just remember to move you car in the morning! “Mexico is only 30-something miles away from The Dutra. This little fact materializes in my brain every other Saturday or so. Why not? I say to myself, and also, to you. You could cross the border and come back for the night. Or just find yourself a bottle of mezcal and hang here under the windows’ chaperoning… A very close second.

Because the bar in Room U is a special place to while away the night. I bought it from the grandson of the man who brought it over from Spain. That’s a strange thing to bring over, I thought at first, imagining it on the Santa Maria, ocean-sprayed and shamelessly taking up space. But then I met the bar, and it all made sense.”

If you’re still deciding where to stay, allow us to advocate for Little Italy. Locals like us know that Little Italy is bar and restaurant central: where to go if you want a well-made tiki drink or a fancy steak dinner in San Diego.

It’s also centrally located within the city: just a 5min drive from the airport and a 10min drive to Balboa Park, Gaslamp, North Park, Hillcrest, and beaches.

Getting Around:
The loft is conveniently located in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The area is extremely walkable (and bikeable) — and you’ll be just a few blocks away from the some of the best restaurants in the city & a few blocks away from the gorgeous San Diego bay front.

Other Things to Note:
The Dutra does not allow smoking or pets in room and on the patios. (Though Pet Rocks are permitted.) If you choose to break “the rules,” we charge an extra cleaning fee. One necessary point about our patios: all are private, except for the common lawn on the fourth floor. It’s the one with tiny tub, you can’t miss it.

We welcome you to have (up to 2) friends over to our place until 9pm. We love parties, but for big groups or late nights, we ask that you check with us before you arrive. Our walls are a little thin, so your tap dancing, loud seances, bongos, and even your lively conversation can carry. The same goes for photo or film shoots. Please note that, in both cases, you may be charged an extra location or event fee.

“I thought about changing this whole thing to just read: Napoleon slept here. Room T is kind of like the little spoon of The Dutra. Or maybe like a precious package tucked under the building’s right arm?

But no, despite popular opinion, the T doesn’t stand for tiny. Room T is big enough for your wildest ambitions and your coffee in the morning. There’s approximately 1,000 cupboards here—all presumably concealing tiny French dictators or perhaps, hidden treasures. From time to time, I like to leave a little something in there for our guests to discover. It feels right for this room.”

Getting Around:
The Dutra is conveniently located in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The area is extremely walkable (and bikeable) — and you’ll be just a few blocks away from the some of the best restaurants in the city & a few blocks away from the gorgeous San Diego bay front.

Other Things to Note:
This is no smoking and no pets allowed at this property (inside & on patios), and is not a location for hosting large groups/parties. All photo and film shoots must be approved in advance and there may be an additional location fee. There will be a $500 extra cleaning fee for smoking or bringing pets. There is another private AirBNB unit directly above this unit, so please only use your designated deck. As with all AirBNB properties, please treat our space as you would your own & respect the neighbors.

When you look up from the street below, you can see the rows of whiskey bottles.* You might even spot Pappy Van Winkle himself winking down at you. But from Room A, you can see so much more—rooftops, skyrises, and ships. Sunsets are non-negotiable here. Nights are lively (this is not a place for light sleepers). One necessary point about our patios: all are private, except for the common lawn on the fourth floor. It’s the one with tiny tub, you can’t miss it.

We welcome you to have (up to 2) friends over to our place until 9pm. We love parties, but for big groups or late nights, we ask that you check with us before you arrive. Our walls are a little thin, so your tap dancing, loud seances, bongos, and even your lively conversation can carry. The same goes for photo or film shoots. Please note that, in both cases, you may be charged an extra location or event fee.

If you`re driving a midsize or larger car, we recommend using nearby overnight street parking for a smoother, stress-free experience.

☆ Layout Reminder: This is a 3-story townhome. Please note that bathrooms are located on the upper and lower levels, and not on the main living/kitchen floor.

☆ Rooftop Access: The rooftop is accessed via an attic staircase from the master bathroom. While it`s a great feature, those with mobility concerns may find the access challenging.

☆ Pet-Friendly Accommodations: We welcome one dog only (up to 60 lbs) for a fee of $100 per stay. This fee helps cover the additional cleaning required for pet hair. If any waste beyond hair (such as urine or feces) is found, an additional $200 cleaning fee will be charged. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet, and dogs should not be left unattended in the home, as barking may disturb neighbors. Please let us know if you are traveling with a dog
