PICK ME! PICK ME! Chip Loves company. This cute little cottage is nestled in between St. Joseph (9 miles south) and South Haven(12 miles north) along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It is one mile south of Roadside park and one mile north of Hagar Park. These public beaches are surprisingly secluded and wooded in what guests have described as a diamond in the rough. There is plenty to do in both directions. Chip's Place is a cozy Family friendly cottage. We are NOT large enough for parties inside or outside. We have taken great pride and care to create an experience for our guests that will create happy memories of the cottage by the big Lake.
Chip's has one central air conditioner in the main room that keeps the entire cottage cool and both bedrooms have ceiling fans.
Guests' enjoy activities in the surrounding communities for year long adventures.

This home is one of 8 houses in a secluded Lake Michigan bluff neighborhood. A country home where no attention to detail has been spared. It's a perfect getaway from the city or a great meeting place for family and friends! There is a private association beach conveniently located a few houses down (less than 5 min walk).

The main house can sleep up to 12 adults. There is also a 2 bedroom coach house located above the garage that can accommodate an additional 4 adults. This space can be added onto your reservation for an additional $300 per night if additional space is needed. If you do not wish to rent this space, please note that it may be rented out during your stay; however there is a separate entrance and parking from the main house and there are no shared walls. Guests in the coach house do not have access to the patio, yard, or any of the main house amenities. Please let the host know if you are interested in adding the coach house onto your reservation.

Please Note: Our house is located at the top of a bluff. To access the beach will require you to walk down a long set of stairs and may not be ideal for all age groups. We offer a complimentary parking pass to Silver Beach in case this is a more convenient option for your group.

The Crane's Nest is a beautiful 3 bedroom, one bath cottage near Lake Michigan and located in the Lake Michigan Beach area. Newly remodeled. We enjoyed Silver Beach and walking around St Joe as well as hiking down to the lake closer to the air bnb at Hagar Park (there are a lot of stairs, but we found it completely manageable even with a 1yo, 4yo, & preteen). On the last evening we went to Jean Klock park and took family photos. It was absolutely stunning at sunset! Monroe House is clean, well stocked for utilizing the kitchen, and the backyard & hot tub were favorites! 10/10 recommend this stay for a slow and relaxed environment allowing you to enjoy a homey get away without being too far off the beaten path."

This smaller yet welcoming and restful one bedroom cottage sleeps up to 2 guests comfortably on a brand new queen bed with luxury mattress. The space is fully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, gas stove, refrigerator, microwave and yes, coffee pot. Make yourself at home!

This cottage includes 3 rooms: one complete bedroom with Roku TV and closet, a full kitchen with small dining area, and a full bathroom. All linens, down-pillows, and kitchen ware is provided to you; including fresh coffee grounds.

The cottage is unit "B" in a 3-cottage building. There is a private exterior door with keypad entry. The cottage is located in between "A" and "C".

Located 15 minutes from South Haven, St. Joseph, and within .8 of a mile from public beach access. Come and go as you please. Key code access on the door and Wifi access.

This property is situated on a nice 3/4 acre and there is plenty of open space outside for activities and a couple nice big shade trees.

We found the location with ease and parking was really close to the rental. ***This place was clean and had the essentials that you need. We took a walk around the neighborhood, it was super cute and seems secluded from the busy street nearby. ***If you are a traveler that doesn't require wheelchair accessibility, I would recommend Hagar Shores Beach about 1.4 miles down the road. Not very populated and perfect for sunset (lots of stairs to access). *** Book this place if you plan to be on the go for most of your trip! There is no living room so there isn't anywhere to hangout in your down time except for the bedroom and dinner table. The picture of the bedroom shows a black chair which is not in there. Instead, there is a cute work desk/lamp with smaller black chair. *** Hammocks listed in description and pictures will require you to set them up yourself (located in a game box in the front of the property) and make sure you bring lawn chairs/wood to sit around the fire if that sounds like your plan! ***You will be staying near other people in case you miss that in the details. ***Upon arrival, there were a surplus of bugs floating around in the kitchen area and bedroom. They were also in the bed! Just your simple outside bugs, nothing scary. The source of this was behind the air conditioning unit, there is a gap in the window that was allowing bugs to come in! You can stuff it with a towel and that made the bug count drop real quick. With all being said, my husband and I enjoyed our stay. Don't let my review scare you! I just made it as informative as I could. We used some of the yard games and explored the neighborhood a couple times. It has a sense of seclusion due to the forested area. The bed was comfortable, shower hot, kitchen clean and cute...It was very relaxing and I'm glad we chose the location. The location is of equal distance from Saint Joseph and South Haven, both towns about 15 minutes away. We spent one day in each town and enjoyed that a lot. It was nice to be able to be back to our rental so quickly! The place has a lot of charm."

Known for its sandy beaches and dense woods, Hagar Shores is conveniently located right north of Saint Joseph and just south of South Haven. There is a pizza & burger place right across the street that is walkable. There is also a Dollar General about a 1/2 mile up the road for any last minute needs.

The cottage sits right off of two lane highway M-63. M-63 (Blue Star Highway) offers the scenic route connecting St. Joseph and South Haven. Along this route you will have convenient access to free public beaches , state parks and bike trails. While our area is generally a quiet location, the convenient Blue Star Highway may have peak times of road noise.

This is a converted farm house.First floor is large with an oversized family room and a fireplace. There's a little sitting room off of the living room that has the gel burning fireplace. The space
This is my home. You can use all the spaces except the back building in the back of the 5 acres. The deck out the back is HUGE. there is a gazebo of the deck and a 33 ft round pool. there is a private tiny house for sleeping. Which is a separate rental. There is a regulation Bocca Ball court or a putting green. Perfect place for a Wedding or a family reunion. Wonderful front porch that is relaxing and quant. The house is to be left the same way as when you came in. Throw out your garbage, clean and put away your dishes and make sure it is broom swept. This is the country,critters love left over crumbs. I will do the heavy cleaning after you leave.If the house is left a mess it will come out of the security deposit. Any damage that is caused by the guest will be the guests responsibility to pay for the damages. if it is more than the security deposit the guest will be responsible for the additional sum.rental.

Entire home & grounds are smoke free.

Our neighborhood outside Lake Michigan is made up of gravel roads and can require vehicles with four wheel access in the winter due to snow. Snow removal in the walk ways, driveways, and around the spa and hot tub is completed by a private company and will be done as soon as possible during snowy and icy weather. The hot tub and sauna are operable all year round and enjoyable even (maybe especially!) in the colder months. Some light snow or ice removal around the walkways surrounding amenities may be needed to be done by guests between professional snow removal for safety, comfort, and accessibility. The streets leading from town to the property may be difficult to drive through during large storms until crews can clear them.

We regularly clean and clear the natural debris that falls from our surrounding tree canopy but you will likely see remnants of sap, acorns, pine needles, leaves, and sand from our sandy soil yard on our decks, outdoor furniture, and around the hot tub and sauna. Nature is all around so bugs and wildlife are present — you’ll love the natural feel of our space!

We’re a pet friendly home and love hosting fur friends. Be sure to add your pet (one only) to your reservation and pay $100 pet fee. Pets should not be left alone in the home.

- "The view is a 10/10." - "Enjoyed an amazing birthday in a beautiful area. The duplex was beautiful, serene, peaceful, exactly what I was looking for. We will be renting again!" - "The original VRBO listing said entire home, but later the details on the Vacasa confirmation said lower unit. We proceeded even after seeing that because the pictures of the house all showed a 3 story house, nice deck, and views of the lake. We assumed from the pictures that the lower level meant the lower level of the house. Instead, this is actually a hastily put together basement apartment. The listing was very misleading and also failed to mention to 88 stairs to get down to the beach. There were people renting the main house who also seemed surprised to be sharing the yard, deck, and beach access, so I assume their listing wasn’t clear either. This might be fine if you were visiting in summer and aren’t planning to spend any time inside. For the price, it does have a beautiful beach."

The cottage sits right off of two lane highway M-63. M-63/Blue Star Highway offers the scenic route connecting St. Joseph and South Haven. Along this route you will have convenient access to free public beaches , state parks and bike trails. While our area is generally a quiet location, the convenient Blue Star Highway may have peak times of road noise.

Driving is the most convenient and will allow you to experience neighboring beach towns, wineries, and breweries. All locations in the area have ample parking available onsite. Biking is also possible, however with limited desitnations (1 beach access, Dollar General, DiMaggio's Restaurant)

Access to laundry is provided (bring your own detergent) however daily house keeping is not provided. Each guest will be provided with 1 towel, 1 hand towel and 1 one wash cloth for the duration of their stay. Please provide your own towels for the beach. Hand soap and dish soap is provided along with basic shampoo and shower soap.

We would love for you to have an amazing stay. Please read these rules before booking. By booking this property, you agree to abide by these rules. Thank you! Check in is at 4 PM. We cannot offer early check-ins or late departures. This is to allow our cleaning crew plenty of time to make sure the property is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after your stay. Check out is at 10 AM. Our cleaners need time to clean the property before the next guest arrive, as same-day turnovers are common. Please respect their time and vacate the property by 10 AM. You will be charged for a late checkout if you fail to vacate the property on time. Please remember this is someone`s home that you are staying at. Be respectful of their home and surrounding neighbors. Please ensure that your total number of guests matches that on your booking. If you are found to have more than the number of guests on your booking you will be asked to leave with no refund. Absolutely no smoking or parties of any sort. If the owner/property manager is informed of any parties taking place on the property, you will be asked to leave with no refund for the remainder of your rental nights. If the cops shall be called to this property we will ask the guest to leave immediately with no refund.
Quiet time starts at 10 PM and remains in effect until 9 AM. Please be courteous of the neighbors surrounding you. Any evidence of smoking inside the property or on the premises will result in an additional $500 fee or the cost of having the property treated for smoke damage.
Personal Belongings. We are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. Items left behind after your stay are not the responsibility of the homeowner/property manager. Please thoroughly check for you personal items before departing. Furnishings and home cleanliness. Please keep the property and all furnishings in good order. Removing any items from the property is not permitted. If any damages to furnishings or property occur during your stay, please contact the owner immediately. If the property is found to need more than a normal clean. Guest will pay for the extra cleaning charge. Pets: some of our properties are pet friendly, if pets are allowed at this property there is a non-refundable pet fee, that must be paid at the timeof booking. All animals must be approved by the property manager before booking. If you use the gas propane tank please make sure to replace it.
Refunds. Owner cannot guarantee against mechanical failure of heating, air conditioning, Hot Tubs, pools, TV`s, Wi-Fi or appliances. Please report any inoperative equipment to the owner/property manager immediately. We will make every reasonable effort to have repairs done quickly and efficiently. This is an affordable Michigan cottage that sleeps up to 2 people. It has window A/C unit, gas furnace, keyless & contactless entry, complete kitchen, outdoor space, and comes professionally cleaned and sanitized with fresh linens, towels, coffee station with grounds, and basic soaps.

We have updated many parts of the cottage (see pictures) and continue to do so, however the cottage will show its age and character at times. If you are looking for a white-glove experience, this may not be the best option for you. However, if you are looking for a clean , comfortable, & affordable space, very close to beaches and well-positioned between Saint Joseph & South Haven (in a quiet area of Hagar Shores), with all of the amenities of a home, this is a great option for your stay!

This smaller yet restful and pleasant studio apartment sleeps 2 guests on a new queen bed and is fully furnished. Full Kitchen, gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, on demand hot water, and yes, coffee pot. Make yourself at home!

The space
Cottage 1 is an ORIGINAL 1940s TINY HOUSE! We have tried to keep this 1940s cottage’s charming vintage feel but updated this cottage with modern amenities.
This studio cottage sleeps 2 with a queen bed, all linens provided. There is a private bathroom with shower and a kitchenette. A table for two is inside and outside on the screened porch.
Basically everything is provided for your stay except personal toiletries and food. There is an HDTV with Roku allowing you to stream with your own services (if you subscribe to Netflix or amazon prime you can safely use your own subscriptions here) and there is WiFi.
Outside there is a gas grill and charcoal grill (charcoal not included but often left from previous guests) plus a communal fire pit nearby (firewood provided). We now have two screened in gazebos that are available to all our guests. There are outdoor games between cottages 3 and 8.
Please note, there has been an increase of traffic noise on m63 due to construction on the nearby interstate.

Guest access
Our property has 9 vacation rentals that share three fire pits and outdoor games. Your cottage will be your own space but the communal outdoor areas are shared with other guests. Please note, no tents.

Other things to note
We are 1 mile from two public beaches on Lake Michigan, one north and one south. Hagar Beach Park, 1 mile to the south, has a large playground and picnic area. Our cottages are located on the two lane lakeshore road m63 that runs between South Haven and St. Joseph, MI. This cottage is the closest to the road so there is potential for traffic noise.
Dollar General just opened a block North! They have a fairly extensive grocery section plus any personal essentials you need.
No pets, no smoking in the cottages, no marijuana smoking on our property, and no tents. Thank you!

Our apartment is walking distance (0.6 miles) to Hagar Park Beach. Although the walk is easy enough, I recommend toting the beach gear in the car and utilizing the free parking available. There is also a large play area for the kiddos.

North of us towards the South Haven area, within 15 miles you can find Roadside Beach, Van Buren State Park, North Beach, and South Beach.

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place. You'll find easy access from the Blue Star Highway or 196. We like to call it, "Exit 7 to Heaven!".

The living room is a great space for playing games, hanging out or having an impromptu family dance party! The dining room is separate from the kitchen, which also has counter seating. Outside you will find a deck, outdoor eating area, grill, gas fire pit table and a flat yard for outdoor fun. For those venturing to the beach, towels and beach chairs are also provided by the host! Those of you on an extended stay will find the washer and dryer a handy on-site feature!

Guests have access to the whole house! The shed is the home owner's storage place and cannot be accessed by the guests.

Other things to note
The house is on well and septic. Drinking water is provided, up to a one week stay, for those that are sensitive to well water taste and smell. Although the house is private and in a fairly remote area, guests can expect to hear some traffic noise when outside of the home.

The space
This cabin offers one bedroom with a queen size bed and a cozy living room with a full size memory foam mattress on a pull out bed. You’ll love the modern style of the recently renovated bathroom. Enjoy the outdoors while grilling some dinner on our large deck, sitting out by the fire pit under the stars, or rinsing off after a day at the beach at the seasonal outdoor shower. Our cabin has a kitchenette equipped with a sink, microwave, stove top warmers, pizzazz pizza oven, convection oven, coffee maker and a fridge. This cabin is perfect for couples, small families, or a small group of friends.

During your stay, you’ll enjoy the many perks of Southwest Michigan including parks, beaches, wineries and breweries, fruit picking, and fishing or kayaking down the Paw Paw River.

This is a cabin-in-the-woods experience, so with the wonderful comforts and our diligence to thoroughly clean our space after every guest, you may still occasionally see a bug or two due to the heavy woods we sit next to, particularly in the spring season.

SUMMER NOTE: Please note that the AC is window units on the main level (one in the living room and one in the bedroom). While they do a pretty good job for that level, there is no AC for the loft and it can get warm up there (we do have a few small fans up there to help).

WINTER NOTE: Our neighborhood outside of Lake Michigan is made up of gravel/dirt roads and we do not have snow removal provided for our gravel parking area. This can require vehicles with four wheel access in the winter due to snow. The streets leading from town to the cottage may be difficult to drive through during large storms until crews can clear them. There is a shovel available for you to clear a path on the deck to the front door (we’ll do our best to keep that clear but if it snows in the time period leading up to your arrival, you may have to do a small bit of snow removal to clear a short path on the deck).

Closest town is Coloma 3.5 miles away that has a few restaurants where most of the local people go for good food, pharmacy, movie theater, grocery store, auto parts, hardware store, etc. Also, 10-13 miles away is Benton Harbor and St. Joseph with just about anything you would want or need. Welcome to Sand Castles Cottages, Cottage 5. (See all nine at www.airbnb.com/p/scc) We are close to two public beaches and located between St. Joseph & South Haven, MI. Our property is unique in that we have 9 vacation rental cottages on one acre. Built between the 1930s-50s, it is one of the last properties of this type along Lake Michigan in this area. We have tried to keep the old charm while adding modern amenities. This listing is for cottage 5, a 2 bedroom 1 bath cottage that sleeps 6.

The space
Our cottage 5 an adorable 1940s two bedroom cottage that has had modern updates. Although it is small, we have tried to stock it with everything you will need during your stay.

PLEASE NOTE, we just updated cottage 5 kitchen with all new cabinets, flooring, and countertops. We also changed the arrangement of the twin bedroom. There will now be 3 twin beds, one with a trundle, to make a total of 4 twin beds. Pictures show the updates.

The kitchen has an apartment size gas range, dishwasher, full size fridge, dishes and cooking utensils.

The dining table seats 6. The living room has a sofa and rocking/swivel chair, board games, decorative fireplace with candles, and flat panel smart tv with Roku.

Master bedroom has a queen bed while the second bedroom has 3 twin beds and a trundle. There is also a pack n play crib. All linens and towels (not for the beach please) are provided. Bathroom has a bathtub.

Outdoors there is a wrap around deck with a piped natural gas grill, dining table for 6, picnic table on the lawn with firepit (firewood provided) and chairs, and outdoor games to borrow (near cottage 8). There are two screened gazebos on the property with comfortable outdoor seating for all our guests to enjoy. There is also a swing set and sandbox towards the front of our property.

You will have the entire cottage 5 for yourself along with the deck and side yard with private fire pit. Outdoor games are shared and located near cottage 8. Please use and return them.

There is a pack n play in the master closet.

If pets are found on the property you will be asked to remove them immediately and will lose your deposit.

Our Cozy Coloma Cottage, with a lower 2025 cleaning fee, is an 8-minute walk (or 2-minute drive) to Lake Michigan access at Hagar Park, with multiple other beaches and parks, including Warren Dunes, and Silver Beach nearby. Also within 30 minutes are dozens of wineries, microbreweries, golf courses and u-pick farms. Canoe and kayak rental for Paw Paw Lake and River are available in Coloma. Great restaurants in St. Joseph, Benton Harbor, South Haven and Coloma, are all less than 15 minutes away.

The space
The recently updated cottage offers one queen bed in bedroom 1 and two full size beds in bedroom 2. Storage is available in each bedroom, and a small storage unit with hangers is in the back hallway. The open concept living room and kitchen offer plenty of space for family and friends. In addition to the dining table there is a 3-person breakfast bar. There are 2 HDTVs, (40” in breezeway and 50” in living room). High speed WiFi is also provided.

The bathroom has a vanity with storage and a full-size tub/shower. Towels, etc. are provided.

If you want to cook, the kitchen is equipped with just about anything you need, coffee cups, glasses and dishes; pots, pans and utensils. Stainless GE appliances including a full-size refrigerator, gas range and microwave. It even has a dishwasher (including detergent), to give you more time to enjoy your vacation. Also included are a Keurig with pods, a toaster and a blender. Should you need to do any laundry, a full-size washer and dryer (and detergent) are provided. (You will need to use the dishwasher and washer at checkout.)

Enjoy your morning coffee and or evening drinks in the enclosed breezeway or the patio behind the breezeway. The breezeway TV allows you to watch TV early or late without disturbing others. A gas grill, table and chairs are provided on the patio. A fire pit next to the driveway is also available for evening fun.

Both TV's are Fire TV's. You will need to use your own Prime account to access all features. Feel free to download and use whatever streaming service you subscribe to. Just remember to log out before you leave.

Guests access the property via a keyless entry lock and will receive their access code 2 days prior to check in. You will have access to the entire property except the garage.

Other things to note
Absolutely no pets, please don’t ask for exceptions. No smoking inside, tobacco or otherwise. Please note that smoking includes burning candles, incense, etc. The refrigerator does not have an ice maker, so keep that in mind when you are stocking up for your stay. As are all homes in the area, we are on a well and septic system. We have an iron filter and a whole house water filter, but you may notice a slightly different taste from what you are used to. There is also a Brita water dispenser in the refrigerator.

The cottage is not handicapped accessible. Multiple stairs must be navigated to get in or out. The cottage is also not childproofed, but outlet covers are available in the kitchen.

No third party rentals. Whoever arranges the rental through AirBnb must be present during the term of the rental. Anything else is a violation of AirBnb's terms of service.

We are less than a mile off the Blue Star Highway. Our immediate neighborhood has dirt roads so be prepared to drive on one for maybe 1/4 mile to get to the cottage.
