Ski and bike storage is easy in the covered carport while the purpose built drying room make getting you gear ready for the next day easy.

Children love the log cabin (and arguing over who gets the top bunk). For their safety a stair gate and a fire guard is provided.

The Wild Earth Barn is a cosy chalet in a magnificent mountain setting, with uninterrupted views of the Wilkin Valley, Mt Aeolus glacier and the Mt Aspiring National Park. It's a particularly restful place to stay. The Barn is a self contained dwelling as part of our lodge. Wild Earth Lodge is a rammed earth home where we live and offer guests a unique wilderness experience. The property sits between two high country sheep stations in the Wilkin Valley, Makarora.
Makarora is a small township with a cafe, authentic local pub and DOC centre.
The Barn has easy access to the rivers and is 5 minutes from the boat ramp at the head of Lake Wanaka. The drive to Haast takes 1 hour and we are 40 minutes from Wanaka township.
The fishing is great here and the rivers are open for reel or fly fishing between November and April. A heli guided fishing trip is an incredible day!
The Mt Aspiring National Park has many beautiful walks and great hut facilities. Day walks to 4 day overnight tramps are all on our doorstep.
In winter Cardrona and Treble Cone Ski fields are 70 minute drive from our gate to the car parks.
We are happy to help you plan any activities or adventures such as jet boating, heli sightseeing, guided fishing or hunting, even a ride in a classic Shelby Cobra!

A light and airy space with all day sun. Two decks allow easy chilling with a cuppa or a glass of wine; one has a view to Oneroa Bay the other one to the back garden (hammock in shed provided). Separate bedroom, own bathroom and kitchen. Smart TV available but surely not necessary with all there is to do on Waiheke :-) The photos are not our best work but hopefully work in progress. We are a kilometer from the main village Oneroa, 2km from the ferry and the closest sandy beach, Little Oneroa, with dairy and takeaways 500m. Electric blankets provided for snuggly winter relaxation.

You'll be set to enjoy a quiet environment surrounded by private woodland or venturing out to the local ski fields, lake or many other activities in and around Queenstown, which is only 7 minutes away by car.

Due to the nature of the property being set on a steep incline nestled in a natural woodland there are no fenced in areas, therefore children should be supervised at all times outside of the chalet.

On the plus side it means that natural wildlife like wild goats, quail, rabbits and even the odd mountain deer can be seen from time to time.

Due to its seclusion and privacy, the property is situated up a shared un-sealed driveway.
We therefore recommend that a car is essential to get to and from the property (500m from main road) that threads its way through the trees from the main road up to where you will be staying.
During winter a 4WD capable vehicle is required in addition to carrying snow chains and being comfortable if you need to use them. ***

This is a well-designed open plan A frame with a modern kitchen/living space. The total floor area is 101 square meters so it’s nice and spacious. A very efficient bright red central wood burner fire makes this chalet really cosy and exceptionally warm. There is always plenty of firewood in the woodshed.
A great feature is the large purpose drying room , complete with boot dryer . This space keeps all your gear stowed away and dry and maintains a clutter free space while you stay. Guaranteed to dry and store all ski and outdoor gear overnight.

This lovely self-contained chalet is quiet and private, yet only 5 mins walk from the town centre. The 2 bedrooms sleep 4-5 people comfortably with 2 double beds and 1 single.

The space
This little chalet is the ideal holiday space. It's in a great location, only 3 mins walk to the Post office, and 5 mins to the lakefront and town centre, but is also nice and private.

Available as a 1-bedroom, 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom chalet this space is really flexible and will suit most groups. Just let us know what suits you.

Set a little back from the quiet, no-exit street it has a large flat garden area and plenty of parking for cars and boats.

Double doors from the driveway lead into the kitchen / dining room which has seating for six. Also on the ground floor is the lounge with TV / DVD , bathroom, laundry and the first bedroom.

Upstairs is the second bedroom, which has a queen size bed and a single bed . The sloping roofs and skylight windows give this room a really cosy feeling!

Outside there's a sunny patio with a BBQ and outdoor furniture.

FREE WIFI throughout the property!

Guests will have access to the whole chalet and garden.

We live 4 doors down the road so are always available should the need arise! We will pop in at the start of your stay to check everything is OK, otherwise we tend to leave our guests alone to enjoy their holiday. However, we're more than happy to help with recommendations, trip and restaurant bookings etc.

This house is in a great location to walk into town, it's a super-easy 5-7 mins walk to the lakefront, shops and restaurants and even closer is the Mediterranean Deli Foodmarket, Sasanoki Japanese Restaurant, Shinaburo Korean Restaurant,Red Star Gourmet Burgers, Woody's Bar, The Cow pizzeria etc. Across the road is the beautiful Wanaka Golf Course.

Please Note: You are welcome to stay for one night only, however we do have a $50 surcharge for this to cover the extra linen and cleaning. There is really very little point in coming to Wanaka for one night, there's so much to do, you'll want to stay for a week!! :)

A super-cute retro A-frame with a historic connection. This is the Hillary family base when in Queenstown. There’s even a picture of Sir Edmund when he first returned from his historic climb of Mt Everest in 1953. Recently refurbished, with a new kitchen and bathroom, it is cute, comfortable and has stunning views from the front balcony, the living area and the master bedroom. Walk to the shops and restaurants in central Queenstown. There’s plenty of parking at the house.

The space
Access to the house is via a gravel path from the carpark. A series of steps leads up to a large front balcony with stunning views of the township, lake and mountains. On the first floor is the living area, modern new kitchen, and a new bathroom with shower, toilet and laundry. Up a flight of stairs is your master bedroom with those same magnificent views and a north facing second bedroom.

With all the stairs and steep drops from the balcony, unfortunately this property is not suitable for the very young or the very old or for those with disabilities.

Our house is best suited to a couple, or a couple with one other person (over 12). There is one bathroom on the ground level; the bedrooms are upstairs.

We are not able to accomodate four adults.

Please note - we prefer to host guests over 30 years of age, unless email references can be provided. (we have had an unfortunate experience with young people partying and damaging the property).

Other things to note
A-frame chalets are difficult to heat. However we’ve done our best to make it warm and cosy for you in the winter. We have heavy duty curtains that should be pulled at dusk, and keeping the upstairs doors closed keeps the heat in the living space. We have underfloor insulation on the ground floor, a heat pump and a gas heater. It is more difficult to keep the upstairs heated, so you can bring an extra layer of clothing as you go upstairs. There are electric blankets on the beds, with settings that you can use to have them on for several hours. There are high quality duvets so you’ll be warm as you sleep.

The Retreat features only 8 chalets located on expansive landscaped grounds, its own private lake access, and beautiful views. Located close to town, you have Cafes, Restaurants, and Shopping minutes away.

The space
Each chalet is:
- 2 levels
- 2 bedrooms
- an internal area of 110 square metres

Each chalet can accommodate 5 guests comfortably, and up to 7 guests at a squeeze by utilising the small sofa bed in the lounge.

On the ground floor is a full size kitchen, lounge, dining, laundry, toilet, and outdoor deck with a BBQ.

Upstairs is two bedrooms (both with ensuite bathrooms):
- The master bedroom has a super king sized bed, lake views and an outdoor deck.
- The second bedroom has two single beds which can be joined together on request to form a super king bed.
There is also a trundler bed which can be wheeled out from under one of the single beds, to sleep 3 people in total in this room.

Heating options include wood burning fire, or heat pump system.

The Retreat also boasts an enclosed pool house for the use of all guests, with two spa pools, and heated midsized pool.

Free ultra fast fibre WIFI is included.

Each chalet has a 43" Smart TV, for guests to log in to their preferred streaming apps (eg. Netflix, Neon, Sky Sport, TV on demand, etc), along with free live TV.
