The Spotted Grouper is a delightful secluded Florida beach bungalow surrounded by twisted Sand Live Oaks. We are located on Bald Point beside Alligator Point, FL in a small, quiet beach neighborhood along the Forgotten Coast, surrounded by Bald Point State Park.
The house is 100 yards from the Gulf - to get there just walk down Grouper Street to the water-there are no streets to cross. It is a very secluded natural beach with lots of sea life where you can enjoy all the beauty of nature. You have gulf views from the living room as well as the porch and patio and the sound of the ocean can lull you to sleep at night. The fishing is fantastic, as are the local restaurants and seafood markets. The house is at ground level so you don't have stairs to climb which makes it very convenient for carrying suitcases and groceries into the home. It sleeps 6 with 1 queen bed and 1 double bed and also has a sleeper sofa in the LR.
We are 45 miles south of Tallahassee, 340 miles due south of Atlanta. The Spotted Grouper makes a perfect getaway if you like a quiet area that DOESN'T have a crowded beach with abundant wildlife and nature reminiscent of "Old Florida".

- "This is a rarity! Being able to find a small house on the beach was such an amazing opportunity and we had a great time. Especially with a young child and a dog it was so great to just be able to pop outside to the beach. The house is very cute! And the location is excellent. Even though alligator point is rural, you’re very close to the tiki bar and ~15 mins from Angelo’s which is a wonderful seafood restaurant. A couple of notes if bringing a baby: there is no bath, but we just used the kitchen sink, and the bedroom doesn’t close fully from the rest of the house so just bring a white noise machine (we used the ax in the bedroom) or plan to spend the evening out on the porch or in the hot tub :) Would fully recommend this place - we had such an amazing stay!!"

Our Cottage, ‘Miller’s High Life,’ sits on an acre ocean front lot with approximately half an acre fenced for your canine companions to walk and run free. This area of the Point is called Mud Cove where low tide provides an immense sandbar for shelling and high tide provides outstanding fishing. The Cottage contains a great room which includes the kitchen, living room and dining area with three sliding glass doors providing panoramic ocean views. Step through the doors to a screen porch to enjoy sunrises and sunsets from your porch swing. The screen porch and master bedroom open on to the deck for sunbathing with a back stairway down to the enclosed hot water outdoor shower. Hammock, picnic table, bench swing and gas grill are beneath the house for outdoor cooking and entertainment. Scraped wood floors throughout with new carpeting in the large master bedroom. A 42" flat screen T.V. is in the master bedroom and a 55" flat screen T.V. is in the great room. Half bath attached to master bedroom with full bath in the hall. - "The Fritz Carlton was so accommodating for our little fishing vacation. It was set up so nice and extremely clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay for the week. Very roomy ,didn’t feel crowded at all and pleanty parking. This was our first time to this part of Florida and we loved it! perfect place for our family vacation. My husband is an avid fisherman back home in Kentucky and his bucket list dream was to catch a redfish on a fly rod and reel and he accomplished that by catching a 26” huge redfish the third day we were there! So his dream came true. This is The perfect place to see amazing sunsets all kinds of wildlife ! while we were there we saw pleanty deer, squirrels , birds , and a couple dolphins swimming in the water behind the house and we did see a huge black bear roaming between the houses below this one on our way back from dinner one night and three wild boar pigs, which was so exciting to see. We enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return soon! We had an awesome time just touring the area and visiting several local antique shops and had the best seafood three nights while we were there along with great bbq from hammaknockers and Mexican food all from local restaurants. - "What a place to visit to make memories of a lifetime. Like seashell? This is your spot. Tiny to large and as many as you can take back with you. Wave were minimal. Great for little ones. During high tide though they got it was perfect for the 5 and up ages. Clean beaches. They even had turtle eggs buried up down the beach. I do recommend visiting on WED-SUN. For that you can hit the small amount of restaurants in the area. They are only open Thursday thur sunday. Get what you need before you get there the Walmart is 40 minutes out. We loved it and will return to the forgotten shores."

Inside our home, you’ll find two spacious bedrooms separated by the kitchen and living area which offer views of the canal. Each bedroom has a private, full bathroom and a sliding glass door to enjoy the deck. Kids will enjoy our set of bunk beds and everyone will appreciate the extra space each bedroom provides. Families will enjoy having their own privacy as the bedrooms are on opposite wings.

The open living area provides plenty of seating including a comfortable, sectional sofa and dining table large enough for 8 settings as well as 5 barstools along the countertop bar area and a kids table.

Enjoy morning coffee or grilling out on the deck while Spotting Blue Herons, Egrets, Bald Eagles and more!! If you spot one of Alligator Point's white squirrels, you'll surely have good luck.

Deborah was very prompt in answering messages. The home was spotless! If you like exploring, getting away, and wild life you are in for a real treat ! My husband caught fish, crabs, and two sharks. While exploring on the beach we seen crabs, stingray, star fish, dolphins, fish, horseshoe crabs, pelicans and seagulls. We also seen a small bear from a distance crossing the road. The gulf cart was so helpful getting back and forth from the beach and also fishing for my husband. If you are looking for crystal blue water this is not the beach for you but this was definitely not a deal breaker for us. This place has magical sunsets. The second public beach access has hundreds of shells of all types and sizes. I hate to even mention it because it is so minute but my only two complaints was lower water pressure and the bedrooms got a little warm at night. Although the ceiling fan helped some it was still warm at night in the bedrooms. A small personal fan on the night stands would help a lot. Our stay here was awesome ! One Bedroom is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, New Granite counters, double sinks and walk in tiled shower. If you are fortunate enough to be able to work remote you’ll be the envy of all your zoom peers as you will enjoy taking your video conference from the built in desk and tech area.

Bedroom #2 is located just past the hallway laundry closet. A full bath shares access to the main living area and the second bedroom. Each Bedroom has a large ultra high definition wall mounted TV with Roku streaming service.

Spectacular sunrises can be viewed from the screened or open deck each morning while you enjoy coffee. Actually there are great views from just about every window and location on site. Our house is very private and joins a twenty acre nature preserve abundant with wildlife.

The home is like living in a "tree house" as many of our guests have described it.

The Bay is thirty feet in front of our house and great for watersports, fishing, and boating. We have a small sand beach there, great for children or to tie up your boat if you bring one (fishing is great here too). The Gulf main beach is a block away with beautiful white sand beaches, great for surf fishing or just relaxing and taking in the sun and view.
On the main level we have a large sun deck and a screened porch.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with a table for four and a bar for two. The family room has a large leather sectional, stressless leather recliner and a flat screen TV. And for sleeping there is a master bedroom with queen sleep number bed and a loft bedroom with one queen, one double and a single twin beds. Down below on the lower covered patio you will find a outdoor sink, outdoor shower, half bath/toilet, picnic tables and a comfortable swing where you can continue to view the beautiful Bay. There is also a Weber gas and charcoal grill and a fire pit.

Bring your boat or Kayak, have fun exploring the bay and waterways, tie them up on our private sand beach. Or use our Kayak's, we have a small child and regular adult size with paddles.

Our house sits directly on the beach facing the east. It has a great deck for you to sit on and enjoy the view! There are two stair cases that lead up to the house, one from the beach and the other from the parking area under the house.

The house is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom plus loft. King bed in master bedroom with attached full bathroom with shower and tub. Queen bed in second bedroom. Second bathroom is also complete with shower and tub. The loft area has 4 twin beds that are great for kids! The best part of the house is the wall of windows overlooking the beach, in the open living room/dining room. There is a large table that seats 8 people with a smaller breakfast bar with three stools.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the necessities.
There is a washer and dryer downstairs with some beach chairs and toys.
There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off, and a grill.
*The floors and paint in the main area have been recently been updated as some of the pictures depict. .
*The area is called the forgotten coast for a reason. (Which is why we love it!!!). There are pros and cons to this. The pros are that there are never crowds, and the beach is usually your private beach. The cons are supplies are limited in town. There is a dollar general 15 minutes away with basics, but the nearest grocery store is in Crawfordville which is 30 minutes away. We usually bring our groceries with us so we don’t have to leave because we love it so much!

Right on the water with plenty of parking. There's a little bar/ food spot right across the way with a very chill vibe. The owners were very quick to respond to any questions and even checked in with us on occasion. Our bed was SO comfortable and the sheets were soft & clean! They had everything in the kitchen we needed. Plenty of Pots and pans of all sizes- with lids, measuring cups/ spoons, openers etc. The water from the fridge tasted pure/ clean- not the normal ocean side tap taste. Plenty of toys for the kids and instructions for the AC usage/ lights/ TV's etc was clearly labeled and explained. We did not try the elevator, but would have been good to know about prior- my sister had a broken leg. She made it up the stairs and hung out in the nicely cooled house for the trip to keep water and sand out of her cast. So may be a good thing to know if you have family with disabilities etc. I would ABSOLUTELY book this property again. This trip was what my daughter wanted for her birthday and it was A+ amazing. Very thankful!"

- "We loved our trip! Home was very cozy and the huge screened in porch was amazing! Highly recommend!" - "Enjoyed our stay. The porch is the best part, my husband loved fishing in the Bay. This is our second stay and they corrected any concerns we expressed last time. " - "Pros: If the weather is warm, the porch would be a great living space. However, it faces north so there is very little sun in the winter. The Internet, TV, heat are all good. Although right on Alligator Drive, there was a vacant lot on each side which made it reasonably private. The 3 beds that we used were comfortable and there were good reading lights for them. There are only 2 steps to enter the house. The realtors were easy to contact and responded quickly. There were fans in all the main rooms which helped for warm nights since not all the windows opened, or there were no screens in them. The beach access is a 2 minute drive or an 8 minute walk.Cons: Even though it is purported to sleep 8, the space is only comfortable for 2 adults (plus children). The only indoors sitting space are 2 small couches (no reading lamps) and 8 kitchen chairs. There's very little space for personal belongings. The bathroom light over the sink didn't work and there was no grab bar in the shower. The kitchen wasn't particularly well equipped if you plan on cooking at home.Several of these things were brought to the realtor's attention so maybe there have been some improvements. We might consider staying here again."
