On the quirky side: a building that has not seen upgrades since it was built in the 1950s (judging by the glossy mahogany doors and hardware). Consequently, no one has thought to install a toilet paper holder in proximity to the toilet. The toilet itself is barely accessible as it was placed right up against one of the exterior walls. Also, the shower curtains were installed well within an undersized tub, causing the curtain to "lick" every person trying to shower. Downright astonishing: this is the very first hotel we have ever stayed at where we have not been tempted to swipe the soap. My kids came up with several lurid olfactory descriptors that I will not repeat here. Location: a two minute walk from the beach. This hotel also captures ocean breezes, cooling our suite at night (a big plus if you're from a northern climate). Being so close to the beach, it is also on the circuit frequented by kids in cars with stereos going thumpa thumpa well into the morning hours. There's no escaping Ricky Martin... Great food and coffee in close proximity but there's not much else to do as Chipiona is a dedicated beach destination. It's a great place to work on a very deep tan (or burn). The beach itself is fabulous."

How is the area?
The quiet town of Chipiona, is located northwest of the coast of Cadiz, on the Costa de La Luz, just 52 km. Cadiz, the capital of the province is the oldest city in the West (3,000 years).
The origins of Chipiona goes back to Roman times. The most emblematic monument in Chipiona perhaps its lighthouse, which dates from 1867 and is built at Punta del Perro, in the same place where Quinto Servilio Cepión, the tower was built in 140 BC.
We can also see the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Regla, with its Moorish cloister of the XV century and the image of the Virgin (twelfth or thirteenth century). The Parish of Nuestra Señora de La O (XVI century), the Castle was probably built on another of Arab origin around the year 1295 and the Fisheries Corrales (believed to be Roman).
From Chipiona, you can visit the wineries, the School of Equestrian and the Racing Circuit (in Jerez), the horse racing on the beach (in Sanlúcar de Barrameda), or to the Route of the White Towns in the Sierra de Cadiz, north of the province. The route enters the Grazalema Natural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve, a must for those who enjoy active tourism and rural tourism.
And not far away, across the river, another natural park, the Doñana Natural Park.
Since Chipiona we can make excursions to Cadiz (52 km), to Seville (105 km), to Jerez de la Frontera (27 Km), to Ronda (150 km), to Malaga (260 km), to Gibraltar (145 km) toTarifa, the Windy City (150 km), to Portugal, Vila Real de Santo Antonio (250 Km), and even to Morocco. To go to Morocco, we will do by road to Algeciras (130 km), then board the ferry to Ceuta (1 hour of trip, 6 crossings daily) or to Tangier (1 hour trip, 40 trips per week). You can ship the car at the Ferry.

El Santuario de Regla, the Lighthouse and the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la O is the most important monuments.

As the house is in the center of town within walking distance to everywhere, shops, cafes, banks, town hall, tourist office, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and the market where you can buy all products of our land, fish, seafood, meat, mixed fruit and plants. Pepi explained everything on arrival and we had no problems at all. The aircon in the lounge was a real godsend on a couple of nights but in general the balcony, with view of the harbour, was more than comfortable for dining alfresco. The fountain in the pictures is of a Spanish superstar, Rocio Jurado and it was amazing watching so many people from our balcony who were taking pictures/selfies. Most entertaining! The location is great, 300m from a nice quiet beach (2 sunbeds 12eur/day!),and 500m or so from the main eating/shopping streets. There is a big tide so bathing only really good at high tide. We walked past the lighthouse and another vast beach opened up, much busier, looked much more accessible to bathe at all tide levels. There are small supermarkets in the town but we regularly drove to about 5km to Sanlucar de Barameda where there are much larger ones (Mercadona, Supersol and Lidl). They take Siesta very seriously here; it's not the usual tourist trap so don't expect to do anything between 2 and 5 except eat or drink! Recommend El Toro on the promenade for good staff and daily specials, Sin Bulli for amazing Tapas (worth finding it) and La Tasca where Pepi works, hidden in a beautiful little courtyard square. While there we never actually heard any other English speakers, about 4 Germans and a couple of French. Get here before everyone else finds it - it's very Spanish and all the better for it! Flew in to Seville, about 1hr 20mins easy drive with approx 7.30eur toll on motorway but I think it varies according to time of day. Get in touch with Pepi, you won't regret it."

- "We were met at the Jerez airport by Jolanda, an excellent service and much cheaper than the local Taxi's. The apartment is compact but has everything you require. There is air con ( needed when the temps hit the 40's), the bathroom and shower are excellent. We had a slight problem with the boiler ( our fault ) but Manuel was there straight away to show us where we had gone wrong. The kitchen has everything you need, except if you want to boil water you need to use a saucepan ( no kettle ). The apartment was lovely and clean and decoration superb. The position of the apartment is perfect, just a short walk into the centre, so you do not get any late night noises. Also it its across the road from the Beach and the Port/Marina. We can recommend the Marina for Food and Refreshment( the cheapest ) Also within 30 yards is the La Mar Bar, this is run my Mario and is well worth a visit ( we went most days ) the place is superb with Air Con inside and an outside seating area to watch the sun go down approx 22:00pm Food excellent ( no TV's ). - "Pros: Petra und Jürgen W. Wir waren im Januar 2019 für 3 Wochen in Chipiona und waren total begeistert von der Wohnung. Die Wohnung war gut ausgestattet und alles was dazu gehört, war sehr sehr sauber. Auch die dazugehörige große Terrasse ist mit allem, was man braucht, ausgestattet. Die Lage der Wohnung entspricht den von den Vermietern gemachten Angaben. Die Vermieter Mari und Antonio sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und stehen mit Rat und Tat zur Seite, wenn man es wünscht. Auch in der Nebensaison gibt es genügend Restaurants/Bodegas die geöffnet haben und die Stadt ist fußläufig gut zu erreichen. Dort gibt es alles was man für den täglichen Bedarf benötigt. Located about 300 meters from the beautiful beaches of Regla and Camarón is this magnificent apartment on the first floor of a villa built in a very quiet area of single-family homes.

To go up to the first floor must be done by stairs, since there is no elevator. The owner lives on the ground floor of the house; It is about two totally independent houses one of the other.
