So Id go elsewhere for that. You’re basically on your own here which is great BUT at the end I needed some help getting a taxi early for my flight and nobody was around and nobody called me back. Cars can’t enter the area near the rooms so you’ll have to schlep your suitcases a little ways to a taxi stand. And hope there’s a taxi on Sunday morning! I found an Uber finally and managed. It was 160 euros for that vs a taxi which is cheaper. But I couldn’t chance not finding a taxi as I had a big suitcase and carry on to lug around. If you want hand holding this isn’t the place but it IS a great find and I’d definitely go back again but this time I’d be ready for it. I would highly recommend it if you want a clean comfortable place close to everything in Como!"

- "We staid at the wonderful penthouse apartment for a weekend. A family of 6 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The apartment is renovated in style with a complete kitchen (3 types of coffee makers :D) Gas stove, large refrigerator, dish-washer and so on. The apartment also has a washing machine, 2 high-chairs for the baby's, and toys for the children. Airconditioning is first class! The location is also superb. A few steps out the door and you are in the wonderful old town, full of restaurants and shops. The Lake is only a 3-5 minute walk away. For people with children the apartment comes fully equipped as stated before and there is a small supermarket about 100m from the apartment. This was our second time in Como, the first time we were at a hotel but next time this will be our top pick. The room was large and uniquely designed, made me feel relaxed. I was worried at first when I saw the construction going on across the street but the windows were soundproofed enough that you could barely hear it. BEST of all though is that they offer really early check-in -- 1:00 pm -- whereas almost all other lodging in Italy you have to wait until 3:00 pm. I so enjoyed arriving a little after 1:00 pm and going straight to sleep for awhile to deal with the jetlag. I would come again to stay here. "

- "I would recommend this apartment to our family and friends without any hesitation. This apartment in Como was perfect in everyway except one. The apartment is not airconditioned. Putting aside the lack of airconditioning, we could not have been happier. The host, Veronica, was generous with her time and knowledge of Como. She met us at the train station and walked us to the apartment - which was very close to the train station. Not that you could hear the trains going to and from the station from the apartment. The apartment is a two level apartment was located on the first floor in a very clean, tidy secured apartment complex. The apartment was perfect for up to 6 people with every modern convenience you could wish for including a washing machine. The beds in the apartment were all very comfortable. We were in Como in mid July 2023 and it got a bit hot some days. Whilst it would have been nice to have returned to an airconditioned apartment, we found that the apartment was able to be cooled enough with open windows and fans. Otherwise this property was a stand out on our trip through pretty much the whole of Italy. "

The bathroom is small, as you would expect in an inner-city apartment, but it has everything you need. The staff are fantastic to deal with - Elisabetta was always very responsive to our messages and the guy who came to check us out and refresh the apartment for the next guests did all he could to help us try to call a taxi to San Giovanni station. (FYI, in the end, we had to give up and run through town with all our bags to avoid missing our train. It’s usually only a 15-min walk across town, and a really nice walk, too, but we couldn’t get an Uber and there were no cabs at the nearby ‘office’. Como Lago station is really close to the apartment so consider taking a train to/from there if you have a lot to carry. Otherwise, try to book a cab in advance.) Overall, we had an amazing time in Como and loved staying at Le Stanze del Lago! We definitely recommend it."

The Silk House is located on the third floor of a house that also has other apartments. There is an elevator.
