Otherwise we didn't know a housekeeper lived on property and helped with breakfast, laundry, and anything we asked. Portofino is beautiful. Only thing we should have done differently is to make dinner reservations in town. The only thing I want to add is that getting to the third floor apartment, up extraordinarily steep and very narrow stairs can be a daunting task. I'm 63 and in decent shape, my wife, daughter and I had been traveling in Italy for a month. With luggage close to 70lbs. each, I can assure you that it is quite a task to get everything up to the unit. After struggling to carry the first bag up myself, I hired a 20 year old nearby, young man to carry the 2nd and 3rd bags and he had to stop 3 times to catch his breath. Coming down is no bargain, either. I'll tell you that gravity and this stairwell will win virtually every battle vs humans trying to get heavy luggage to and from the 3rd floor! Now, this would not stop me from staying at this apartment again, like I said, it's in a great location. Just be sure to find and pay a strong, young guy to do the heavy lifting if you should have heavy luggage. I promise, these steps will not be a picnic for this young guy, either. "
