I'm 63 and in decent shape, my wife, daughter and I had been traveling in Italy for a month. With luggage close to 70lbs. each, I can assure you that it is quite a task to get everything up to the unit. After struggling to carry the first bag up myself, I hired a 20 year old nearby, young man to carry the 2nd and 3rd bags and he had to stop 3 times to catch his breath. Coming down is no bargain, either. I'll tell you that gravity and this stairwell will win virtually every battle vs humans trying to get heavy luggage to and from the 3rd floor! Now, this would not stop me from staying at this apartment again, like I said, it's in a great location. Just be sure to find and pay a strong, young guy to do the heavy lifting if you should have heavy luggage. I promise, these steps will not be a picnic for this young guy, either. "

The house is on the third floor on a building without an elevator; upon entering we find a small lobby, topped on the left by a staircase leading to the upper floor with two single beds and a small window with a partial view of the village. Also on the left of the second floor, we find a large bathroom with bathtub and shower stall, next to the laundry room with washing machine and toilet, and finally a bedroom with a queen-size bed with a view of Portofino, closet and ensuite bathroom complete with shower stall and toilet.

Dividing the two areas of the house is an open kitchen complete with appliances, microwave and dining table. - "Before leaving our accommodation to head to this apartment, while still using wifi, I checked us in and the last communication was that someone would meet us at location for 330pm. The emails warned of penalties for a late check in time. When we arrived no one was there so we sat and waited...and waited..and waited some more. Eventually, we tried to phone the number that was provided. It didnt go through to anyone. The "free wifi" zone in Portofino was extremely dodgy. We ended up having to take the shuttle bus back into Santa Margherita and finding a cafe with wifi. Through the helpful service on Expedia we were able to find out that the owner had TEXT us with instructions to let ourselves in. Of course, my phone was not receiving text messages while visiting Europe. We took the shuttle back to Portofino and were able to get inside. The suite is advertised as having a washer and dryer. There is NO DRYER. Our bedding had no fitted sheet. Extremely bare bones accommodation. The couch was filthy and stained. The hot water tank allowed for 10 MINUTES of HOT WATER in a tiny gringy bathroom. Portofino is beautiful but do not there! Make a day trip(s) in and stay in Santa Margherita. Prices and amenities are far better. Its also a beautiful walk..or a shuttle away! This accommodation was the absolute worst of our visit to Italy. "

The apartment is located on the second floor of a building without an elevator; upon entering we find a small atrium. To the left of the latter is the living room furnished with a table, chairs, sofas and an open kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, oven and kettle. Continuing down the hallway, from left to right, are the two bedrooms with one queen-size bed each, one with an en suite bathroom complete with toilet and shower stall. Next to the entrance is the second bathroom with shower stall, sanitary ware and washing machine.

Recently renovated apartment located in Portofino in the square in front of the Town Hall. Excellent location 50mt walk from the small square, above the bus stop and in front of the village's only parking lot.

The house is on the third floor on a building without an elevator; upon entering we find a small lobby, topped on the left by a staircase leading to the upper floor with two single beds and a small window with a partial view of the village. Also on the left of the second floor, we find a large bathroom with bathtub and shower stall, next to the laundry room with washing machine and toilet, and finally a bedroom with a queen-size bed with a view of Portofino, closet and ensuite bathroom complete with shower stall and toilet.
Dividing the two areas of the house is an open kitchen complete with appliances, microwave and dining table. To the right of the kitchen is a third bedroom with a queen-size bed with closet, while returning toward the entrance leads to the living room with a comfortable sofa bed, closet and television.

The villa sits in a stunning position on the Portofino peninsula with just a few other properties sharing this majestic protected natural area. Sweeping sea views and direct access to the sea via a private swimming platform add to the sense of being totally away from it all.

If arriving by car, please note that parking is available in a public car park (charges apply) at the start of Portofino, around 1-1.5km away from the villa. From the car park you must walk through Portofino centre as far as a tunnel and lift (around 500m away) which will then take you up to the promontory, then it is a further 700m to the villa. If arriving with luggage, the house porter can meet you at the lift to assist you for the final 700m (this should be arranged in advance and for an extra cost).

Castello Brown, the imposing 16th-century fortress and museum is just a few minutes' walk from Villa Basilico, with Portofino's famous lighthouse less than 10 minutes away. And in around 15 minutes you can walk to the centre of Portofino, with its iconic harbour and pastel-coloured buildings. You can also take advantage of the lift (700m away) that brings you to the pathway that leads right into town.

The picturesque piazza is the main hub of the town, with yachts moored in the harbour and a great choice of restaurants and designer shops. You can be as active or relaxed as you want in Portofino. Enjoy hiking through unspoilt landscapes and swims in the sea - or simply pass leisurely afternoons with coffee in the piazza. The nearest sandy beach is found at Paraggi (3km).

Take the bus from Portofino to the nearby town of Santa Margherita Ligure (5km) in around 15 minutes, or enjoy a ferry ride there in about the same time. In Santa Margherita Ligure you can catch the train to the gorgeous coastal Cinque Terre villages, with the sandy beach at Monterosso al Mare just under an hour away.

The port city of Genoa (35km) is around 40 minutes away by train from Santa Margherita Ligure. It's full of historic architecture, with Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and the Renaissance-era street Via Garibaldi being particularly impressive highlights.

Looking out from the windows, you will experience the sensation of being on a boat. The spectacular view of the port as well as the church of San Giorgio and of the historical Castello Brown is unique.

A parking area is located along the road between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino in front of the Covo Nord Est nightclub.
From here you can reach the town center with the bus service active in the summer months, every twenty minutes until 8:00 p.m., tickets can be purchased at the vending machine in the parking lot.

Santa Margherita Ligure Station
From Santa Margherita you can continue:
•On foot: about 1 hour and 20 minutes
• By taxi (outside the station)
•By bus: from the Santa Margherita Ligure Railway Station, regular bus service that arrives in Piazza Martiri della Libertà in Portofino in about 15 minutes (intermediate stops Covo di Nord Est and Paraggi)
Runs every 20 minutes from 6:15 am to 10:00 pm (until 12:45 am in the summer).

Scheduled ferries ensure a constant connection from the Paradise Gulf to the Gulf of Tigullio

Other things to note
Portofino has two distinct seasons, in winter it is very quiet, peaceful, very suitable for rest and relaxation, in summer it comes alive, during the day there are many tourists who come to visit the village and in the evening it becomes a relaxing place to dine and drink by the sea.
If you can, stay at least 3 nights to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the village

Charming apartment with shared garden in the bay of Paraggi, between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino.

The space
The apartment, located on the ground floor, can be reached by going up about 25 steps and crossing the shared garden furnished with some seats, where guests can relax. The entrance opens onto the dining room with a crystal table, characterized by a beautiful ceiling with exposed beams and brick columns. From here a corridor leads to all the rooms of the house, first to the two bedrooms, both equipped with closets, then to the living area. The living room, furnished with a sofa, a fireplace, a desk and a TV, is directly connected to the fully-equipped kitchen with a small counter, stools, an oven, a dishwasher and a kettle. From here guests can enjoy a glimpse of the sea of the beautiful bay of Paraggi.
The first bedroom features a queen-size bed, a small desk and and ensuite bathroom with a shower, the second one has a single bed and a bunk bed. A bathroom with a shower completes the layout.

At guests' disposal amenities such as free wifi, washing machine, iron and air conditioning.
