Traffic is restricted so the house is very quiet with a great Lake View. It is "suspended" above the road, and it has a balcony and a large terrace. Under the bridge you can access the terraced garden, where an area is reserved to guests as a sundeck or to work or read, or where you can cook, BBQ and dine. The garden is occasionally shared wth other guests, but the roof top terrace and balcony are in exclusive use. House is ideal for who travels by public transportation. Menaggio is very well served by buses and boats and a main train line is just across the Lake, in Varenna, 15 minutes away by ferry.

The house for rent is located in Menaggio, on the western shore of Lake Como about mid lake, just 15 min. by ferry from Bellagio and Varenna. Menaggio is one of the most important towns on Lake Como and has been a tourist attraction for hundreds of years. From Menaggio central location, one can easily navigate the whole lake by public boats. Bellagio and Varenna are only a short boat ride away. Lugano, in Switzerland is only 15 miles away, well served by public transportation.

The owner is a US born of Italian Origin resident, with a thorough knowledge of the Lake and its surroundings. He is glad to spend all the time needed with guests to help them planning their hikes, boat trips, shopping trips or simple sightseeing. He also assists with full info on travel to reach Menaggio and picks up guests with no car at the bus or the ferry.

Only one dog of small size is allowed, no cats or other kind of pets. The dog, however, can only stay in the house or use the balcony and the large terrace, not the garden.

The living/dining room is open plan to the kitchen (but separated by an arc and two steps.). 2 comfortable armchairs make a perfect « aperitivo » space around a dining table.

The main church of Menaggio and a playing ground for children (used only during school time) are located 50 m from the house.
Free parking is often a bit a challenge, it is first come- first served. You can double-park when unloading the car, no problem. There are other free spots Piazza Rimembranze, via Armando Diaz or Via Roma near the Lido (about 400 meters), it is a 7 mn walk :).
Please note : white lines = free parking, blue lines = on payment, this applies everywhere in the village.

The best way to get around Menaggio is to use public transport: the nearest bus stop is 50 meters away and the ferry station is very close too (350 m). The nearby shops and restaurants are definitely a great advantage !
Leave your car for a while, enjoy Dolce Vita and the tastes of Italy.

- "Casa Angiolina is ideal for a short break in Menaggio. You're a few minutes away from the lakeside and accompanying bars and restaurants but close to food shops as well. Sylvie stayed in touch as our stay approached and the check in with Ketty was fine (bought some excellent prosciutto and cheese at her shop too...). We were lucky enough to get a parking space in front of the apartment and left the car there for whole of our stay... public transport is great round lago Como. We walked up to the rifugio Menaggio (bus to the start at Breglia), visited Bellagio for lunch, played mini golf, watched a terrific storm over the lake and got soaked walking along the lakeside the next day - all in all, a busy few days! We had dinner in the Pizzeria Lugano (300m along the way) which was good - best spaghetti aglio olio ever and Il Pozzo on our last night - neither disappointed. "

The apartment was very clean and comfortable and also has 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. There are dishes, pans, utensils, an electric water kettle, and an American-style coffee maker, but we had to buy coffee, dish soap and paper towels at the grocery store which we thought was a little strange since those are necessary kitchen staples. All in all, though, it was a wonderful place to stay!!!"

Communication and transportation to and from this apartment are not great. 1. You will need to go to their office in Como, trek 1.5 miles to their office or take an Uber (our estimate was $62 USD) to do this- which is a major downside for this unit. The company needs someone at the property to meet you or a better way to validate passport credentials. 2. This is a new EU regulation, that passed in November of 2024, the company communicated this to us one week before our cancelation period and NEVER answered any emails sent (all on Expedia account) about if we would need to drop keys off, etc. 3. The great news, is that because of this detour we got to take a $150 taxi ride from Como to Menaggio because the ferries were sold out. Why is this great news? Well, our taxi driver dropped us at the door! Otherwise, get ready for a very intense walk. You are walking 1.5 miles ALL UP HILL and 75% of it on cobblestone or rock walking paths (not great if you have any luggage and assuming you actually find the walking path as it is not something Google has yet to discover- we found it on our walk down). Take a taxi- even if you arrive at the ferry station! It will cost you $30 and you won't care! Book it for your return as well. My only other annoyance is that this place is in need of an exterminator. There are ants in the bathroom and kitchen."
