Copake Lake is a motor boat lake and there is room to dock one boat there during your stay if you bring one. There is a wood burning smokeless fire pit on the ground off the rear porch with Adirondack chairs over looking the lake. Home is designed to work well for large or small groups, all bedrooms are about the same size and all bath rooms are off hallways. Lot is almost an acre of land, and there is room to park many cars. Dinning table holds 10 people , kitchen island has 4 seats. House has cable TV and Internet and A printer. The house is across the street for the Copake Country Club and the golf course is open to the public and there is also the Greens Restaurant if you want to dine out one night.

We absolutely love being right on the lake and spent so much of our time on the upper deck watching the boats go by. The master bedroom was very spacious with lots of windows facing the woods for privacy and a really comfortable king bed. We enjoyed sitting by the dock in the Adirondack chairs as well as sitting at night around the fire pit at the house. The furniture in the house was well maintained and the kitchen was well equipped. Welcome to our family-focused home. The chef's kitchen, dining room, and living room combine for one large open family area. The kitchen is fully equipped with maple cabinets, granite countertops, a huge granite dining center island, and a beautiful large mission style bench seat. There is a half bathroom off the kitchen.

The living room has a sofa and love seat, gas fireplace, and desk/chair. The dining room has a farm table that seats 8 and wrap-around windows and doors to two decks. One deck has a table that seats up to 8 and the other deck has a gas BBQ and chairs overlooking the pool.

The Den has a twin bed, sofa, and two beautiful barrel chairs. There is a TV with Chromecast and a DVD player with plenty of children's videos and games.

The large Main BR has a queen size bed, two closets, TV with Chromecast, and a private bathroom with double sink and walk-in tiled shower.

Upstairs has two huge BRs and a shared full bathroom with tub. One BR has a bunk bed plus a separate full size bed. The second BR has one queen and one single bed.

The house has window A/C throughout.

The basement has a ping pong table, two-player basketball arcade game, foosball table, nock hockey, TV area with a sofa, love seat, and exercise bike.

The front yard is set far back far from the road with open views of the large pond across the street in the winter (no access).

The private back yard has a fenced-in, up to 8' deep in-ground heated saltwater (no chlorine) pool and connected screened-in gazebo with furniture, radio, and ceiling fan. Ample pool furniture, 4-person dining table, patio umbrellas, and beach towels are provided.

The driveway leads to an outdoor asphalt parking area with a basketball hoop, as well as a large unattached garage for one car. In the garage, we offer some gym equipment (BowFlex), access to several bicycles and helmets, golf clubs, tennis rackets/balls, RipStiks/Waveboards, pogo stick, hula hoop, and other items.

There is hi-speed wifi throughout the house which can easily support work, gaming, and streaming movies (our family had five people working remotely at the same time during the pandemic). Utilities include hot water baseboard heat, gas appliances and fireplace, water softener, whole-house water filter, and instant-on hot water. Separate heating zones for each floor. The house has a burglar alarm system, smoke and carbon dioxide alarms, fire extinguisher, and security cameras (on the outside only). The house has a coded door lock, so no need to carry around a key.

The Neighborhood

The house is a 2-hour drive from NYC and 2-1/2 hours from Boston in rural southern Columbia County, NY (just north of Dutchess County, NY and east of Berkshire County, MA).

Birch Hill Road is one of the nicest streets in the area. The house sits across from a large pond (no access). You can walk to Copake Lake, the area's largest lake which has a marina to rent boats, a seasonal café, and a beautiful 18-hole public golf course and scenic restaurant. Catamount Ski (winter) and Adventure Park and Zip Line (spring/summer/fall) is only a 10 minute drive away. Catamount has a weekly adventure camp (M-F) for ages 3-13 during July and August. There is a nearby 9-hole public golf course. The hamlets of Hillsdale and Copake are five minutes away, as is their joint weekly farmers' market (May-November) and large public library with children's reading/play area. The area also includes many great hiking trails and a popular rail trail with bike rentals. The larger cities of Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA (many restaurants, chain and local stores, antiquing, theater, movies, bowling, music, etc.) are both less than a half hour away.

Within an hour are Butternut, Jiminy Peak, Windham, and Hunter Mountain ski areas, Tanglewood, Albany, and Saratoga Racetrack. Southern Vermont ski resorts are two hours away, so accessible for a day trip.

Getting Around

Closest public transportation is Amtrak station in Hudson (25 minutes by car) and Metro North station in Wassaic (35 minutes).

We thoroughly enjoyed the salt water pool and well appointed kitchen and game room in the basement. The house is ideally located between Great Barrington, MA and Hudson, NY. It is close to Catamount mountain which offers a fun aerial adventure park. There’s a brewery nearby called Roe Jan which I highly recommend. The immediate surroundings offer a wealth of wildlife to enjoy: depending on the season you will see deer, rabbits, wild turkeys and, of course, all sorts of beautiful birds.
We would like to add a note that stairs leading to the second floor are pretty steep since it’s an old house structure. Please be caution when climbing.

Copake Lake is known for being crystal clear--great for swimming, boating and fishing or ski/snow board winter months! When it's very cold the lake freezes and it's a ice fishing delight- or bring your ice skates! In the summer months use our kayaks or rent a larger power boat at the nearby marinas. . This 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage has a large deck, a screen porch with big teak dining table, and a patio with a Webers gas grill. Relax by the lake or take a short drive to the great towns of Hudson or Great Barrington. The Hudson Valley is known for great natural beauty as well as world class restaurants, shops, cultural spaces --performances, art galleries, etc. 40 minutes to Tanglewood. 15 minutes to Great Barrington or Hudson!

There's a world class golf course nearby--with a fabulous restaurant to match--the newly renovated The Greens at Copake Country Club. We are also near the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, Bash Bish Falls, and the Berkshires--Tanglewood is a 40 minute drive. Woodstock NY is about an hour away . The rural countryside is beautiful in all directions! And Catamount ski lodge is 10 minutes away!

Copake Lake is a little hidden gem!! We loved walking down the street to the beautiful water and beach area with the kids. It worked perfect for us because if the kids needed something we could just run back up to the house! The Copake Lake Boat + Ski Marina down the street is amazing and so convenient as it is a very short walk down the street. It has everything you would need- food, coffee, ice cream, beer and wine. The kids loved dancing to the guitarist playing on Saturday night, floating and swimming in the lake. We also did the Bash Bish falls hike. So beautiful! There is lots to do in the area- we will certainly be back!!!"

It’s even roomier than the pictures show - a family of 8 was able to spread out during the day and come together comfortably for dinner. It's a truly exceptional home and, on a number scale, we'd give it a firm 10 out of 10. We only had one caveat that people should be made aware: Understand that this is an old house. As such, there are small stairs / threshold bumps at many of the rooms and all bedrooms are on the second floor. For the very elderly or those with mobility issues, this might present a problem. It did nothing to alter our stay--in fact, it was part of the charm of house for us. But we felt it might be helpful to note."

Getting Around:
Olive Pit is about 2.5 hours from New York City, and you'll definitely want a car to get there and around the area.
In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.

Magical 3 acre property in Copake Lake with indoor pool. Perfect property for a relaxing and fun getaway with the family, friends, or professional retreats. The property has all the amenities you'll need. Very centrally located to hiking, skiing, farms, lake beaches, parks, towns (Hudson, Millerton, Catskill, Hillsdale, Great Barrington, and Red Hook etc. are all 10-30 minutes away). There is magic to experience in every season at the Copake Lake Chalet.

The space:
This beautiful chalet in Copake Lake has everything you need for a fun and relaxing getaway. The home is a 3 minute walk to Copake Lake. Rainy day? No problem... because there is an indoor lap pool, where you can lounge or do some laps against the generated current.

The Home:
When you walk into the house, you enter the great room, which has soaring ceilings and stunning wood beams. The great room has huge windows overlooking the garden in the front yard. It also has sliding doors that lead to the wrap-around deck. The kitchen and dining areas are an extension of the great room, with an open concept design that will allow you and your guests to spend time together regardless of whether you are cooking, eating, or cozying up by the gas fire place which lights up with the push of a button. The great room also leads into a screened-in porch, which allows you to enjoy lounging or dining outdoors in any weather. The screened-in porch includes a lounging area and dining area, and opens up to sections of the open deck.

There are 4 bedrooms. The primary bedroom is very large and includes a king size bed, work station, sitting area, and en suite bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi hot tub. The primary bedroom is upstairs, just past the loft living space. Guest room #1 is on the main floor and includes a queen size bed, work station, and pool view with sliding doors that lead to the pool area. Guest room #2 is on the main floor and includes a queen size bed, a standard size toddler bed, baby changing table, and a pool view with sliding doors that lead to the pool area. Guest rooms #1 and #2 share a full bathroom on the main floor with a standard tub/shower.

On the top floor, before entering the primary bedroom, there is a loft area, which has a sleeper sofa that can be turned into a full size bed. If not being used as additional sleeping space, the loft area is a TV/game room where you can watch movies on the smart TV or play board games with the family from our game collection.

Downstairs, there is a newly renovated walkout basement with an additional sleeping nook that has a queen size bed, a living room with a sectional sofa and a smart TV, a work station, an exercise/meditation area with yoga mats, weights, meditation cushions, and other equipment, and a children's area with toys. The renovated walkout basement has a full bathroom with a standing shower, and large windows/sliding doors that look out into the front yard. The home easily sleeps 8 adults (or 10 with the option of using the pull out couch in the loft). We also have two twin air mattresses upon request and a Pack 'n Play.

Outdoor space:
The property is 3 acres. The front of the property is a garden with grass. The back of the property is all woods. There is a wrap-around deck with multiple sitting and dining areas, and a screened-in porch to enjoy lounging and dining outside in any weather. There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs (extra camping chairs available) in the backyard woods. There are hammocks throughout the property on the deck and in the garden.

Family accessibility:
This home is well-equipped for infants and toddlers with the following: baby gates for main stair case (available upon request), Pack 'n Play, baby monitor, a standard toddler bed and changing table in guest room #2, toys, books, a standard highchair, and booster seat. We have a toddler and remember how difficult it was to travel with her as a baby, so we want to make this as convenient as possible for you! Safety note for children: the doors to the pool area from the bedrooms should always be locked when there are children in the home and it is not in use.

Lake Access:
The house has communal access to Copake Lake. There is a shared swimming dock and you will also be able to use two kayaks and one paddle board. The lake is down the street and the communal area is a 3 min walk from the house.

Activities for every season:
Summers are a dream at the lake. In the Fall you can visit farms for apple picking and endless nearby hiking trails for foliage viewing. Winters are perfect for snow activities such as sledding and Skiing (Catamount Ski Resort is 15 minutes away) or for being cozy by the fire (indoor & outdoor) with a hot drink and book. In every season, you’ll have the option of swimming in the indoor pool. Some of our favorite parks and trails include: Roeliff Jansen Park in Hillsdale (10 minutes), Bash Bish Falls in Copake Falls (12 minutes), and Taconic State Park (10 minutes). There is a massive lake beach 15 minutes away for beach days at Lake Taghkanic. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the Copake/Hillsdale Farmers Market is on Saturday mornings and you don't want to miss that! There are convenient stores located 5 minutes away in Craryville and other places to grab some quick groceries within 10 minutes (Random Harvest, and Hillsdale IGA). Copake Lake Country club is just a few minutes away, where you could enjoy an amazing meal or drink on their terrace, golf, or rent a boat for the day to enjoy on the lake.
