Fern Hill Lodge is perfect for family & friend gatherings and retreats. Located in the country yet close to two towns, it offers a peaceful setting for connecting and making memories. Parking is limited to 12 or 13 cars so groups over 30 are not feasible. We are not set up for weddings or large parties. There is a minimum of 26 hours between reservations and all rooms are cleaned by a commercial company.
The themed rooms, rustic decor, gourmet kitchen and theater room offer something for everyone. There are 3 levels with beds for up to 24 people. For relaxation, take a walk down to the dock at the one acre fishing pond and catch large mouth bass, blue gill and crappie (be sure to release them, too!). Or take a stroll through the seven acre forest on the other side of the fishing pond. The trees will refresh your spirit and energize your body. It's also relaxing to watch the goldfish swimming around in the smaller pond in front of the house.
Or you might like to watch the sunrise on the 700 square foot covered slate deck along the southeast side of the house overlooking the fishing pond. Experience a surround sound movie in the theater room that will seat 18. Bring your favorite flicks or lots to choose from here.
Bedrooms: the Master Suite has 2 queen beds, walk-in closet, access to the deck outside and 46 inch flat screen TV with satellite service that can swivel to be viewed from the jetted tub. We call the big walk-in slate shower 'the Cave.' You'll love the massaging effect the smooth river rock floor has on your feet. The room has a heated slate floor and double granite vanity with raised copper sinks and waterfall faucets.
The Parlor bedroom is also on the main floor. It is the feminine counterpoint to the rest of the house with quilts, needlework & frillery. It has a king bed and uses the main floor guest bath with tub/shower combo, heated slate floor and raised copper sink with waterfall faucet.
The Loft sports a full size Murphy bed, reading nook with sofa, games, and foosball.
Through the Loft is the Nest, a large room with 4XL twin beds usable as 4 twins or 2 kings. It also has a couch and flat screen TV with satellite and Wii game console. There are some Wii games available but feel free to bring your own. Lots of board games, playing cards, coloring books, puzzles, dice, etc. in the cupboard in the office on the main level.
Downstairs is the Fishing Room with a king bed and its own private bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo. It has an outside door leading to the covered patio for early morning coffee or a soak in the hot tub.
Also downstairs are the Hunting and Cowboy rooms. The Hunting Room has a king bed and also opens out onto the hot tub patio. The Cowboy Room has a queen bed and a set of log bunk beds. It does not open to the outside, perfect for children. These two rooms share a bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo.
The theater room seats 14 in genuine theater chairs and another 4 on two couches. With its 10 foot screen, Blu-ray/DVD player, VHS player, satellite TV, HDMI hook-up for computers and 7.1 surround sound, it's the perfect setup for movie watching or presentations. Complete with popcorn machine & wet bar area with refrigerator and microwave. Sleeps 2 young adults or 4 children on two comfy foldout full-size couches.
The gourmet kitchen includes a six-burner Capital gas range with oven, an electric wall oven, warming drawer, dishwasher, TWO refrigerators, Advantium microwave oven, Keurig coffee maker (bring your K-cups) plus 2 regular coffee makers, cherry cabinets, granite counters, two copper farmhouse sinks, handmade copper hood, pantry, dishes and glassware for 30, two electric griddles, two waffle irons, a rice cooker and a full array of cooking utensils and small appliances.
You'll never want to leave the Great Room with its 25' ceiling, huge log trestle, rustic decor, comfortable leather couches with built-in recliners, and 60 inch flat screen Smart TV with satellite service and Blu-ray player. The room has three levels of lighting: ambient ceiling lights for TV viewing, fan lights for socializing, and reading lamps for, well, reading. It also has a massive real river rock gas fireplace for chilly evenings.
The garage is equipped for exercising with treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and weight machine. A ping pong table makes for fun tournaments! Frisbees, hula hoops, bocci ball, small corn hole set, croquet and horseshoe equipment also available.

Muttley's cottage is located in Independence. This cute little town has a beautiful downtown, local restaurants, movie theater, the Willamette River and Riverfront Park. During the summer we have music in the park with seating on the grass. Seasonally, the Farmers Market is where you can find fresh produce and local products (April- Oct.).

Independence, Oregon is located outside of Salem north of Corvallis. We are right in the center Monmouth and Independence. The Cottage is located 10 minutes from Western Oregon University (Monmouth), and 30 minutes from Oregon State University (Corvallis).

The outside patio is beautiful and we enjoyed our morning coffee out there. We really appreciated all the little extras like the fresh cut flowers all over the house. - "This quiet cottage out in an out-of-the way area not far from Dallas, OR, is comfortable and welcoming. The outside looks a little rustic, but the interior is state-of-the art and wonderful. The queen bed in the main room is very comfortable (and I'm a large person), and the master bathroom was amazing - spacious shower with adjustable head. The carpet in the bedrooms and the living room was an unexpected delight for my weary feet. The kitchen was clean and well equipped, easy to navigate. The wild turkeys - there were quite a few throughout the day - and the deer are fascinating to watch. And the TV has Roku. The owners were very communicative and helped with getting into the cottage. One thing to know: Your cell service may not work at the cottage, so make sure you connect to the wi-fi for phone calls and have downloaded all the information you need for check-in before getting there. I definitely recommend this property!"

You can even charge your EV (metered, Level 2 - J1772 and NACS plugs available). Parking space is available for up to two cars and secure storage space for your bikes or kayaks is available upon request.

Inside the cottage you will have a queen sized bed with luxury linens, a small seating area with two upholstered chairs, a smart TV with access to Premium DirecTV programming and streaming services, and a kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffee maker, tea kettle and all dishes, glassware, flatware and utensils). The kitchenette is also stocked on the day you check-in with complimentary bottled water, coffee, tea, half n’ half, bagels, cream cheese, local jam, butter, nut butters and oatmeal. The recently remodeled bathroom has a Toto Washlet bidet toilet with heated seat and a luxurious tiled shower. We provide a hairdryer, and quality soaps, shampoo and conditioner.

You can expect to experience a completely stocked and comfortable home. I've decorated the home with family heirlooms, antique and vintage items, nick-nacks, and interesting finds from my travels. To boot, I recently refinished the original hardwood floors and baseboards throughout which brings extra charm and life into the space, I'm sure you'll love it!!

I have 9 wonderful chickens. They live in their own sectioned off portion of the backyard, their run. You will certainly see them and hear them from time to time - sometimes Miss Etta James just needs to sing! Myself, or my caretaker, tend to the chickens regularly and do so by accessing the garage - we do not enter the main home for this.

Outside my guests will have access to three off-street parking spaces with ample free street parking, the front yard complete with a super stellar, maintained veggie garden (you're totally welcome to pick), and access to the private, fully fenced backyard and covered patio - however I ask that you don't enter the garden shed.

Inside my guests will have access to all spaces: living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, both full bathrooms, office/bedroom, two full bedrooms. The only spaces without guest access are the garage and garden shed.

Come hike, shop, dine, and explore Willamette Valley Wine Country, with relaxation as the cherry on top!

The main home is custom-built with vaulted ceilings and a stunning river rock fireplace. Throw a log on the wood stove and kick your feet up on the soft seating in the living room. In the adjacent full kitchen, the chef of your family will have no issues whipping up delicious dishes. The bedrooms in the main home are equally spacious and cozy with their soft linens, homey fixtures, and easy bathroom access.

The guest home is just as special as the main home! The open-concept living room features a grand piano, comfortable seating, and a large TV. The full kitchen in this home is just as well-equipped as the main home's kitchen. And the bedrooms are places of pure peace with their inviting color palettes and high-quality linens.

Additionally, both homes have a private washer/dryer and designated work desks.

-The barn and the outbuildings are off-limits to guests.
-The wood-burning stove is not available.
-The main house is equipped with central AC. The cottage is equipped with a standing AC unit in the master bedroom.
