The cross-country and snowshoe trails were an excellent, unexpected surprise—better than we had expected. The only negative was that there was no sit-down breakfast option." - "Beautiful and conveniently located. Unique, picturesque rooms. No utilities close by so make sure you have what you need. - "Amazing location, with a small trail that led to a cafe and a bar so we could stumble back to our room at the end of the night. It is also right off of Going to the Sun Road. This is a very small gripe and I still rate them as excellent, but I wish they had bigger towels or robes and a bigger TV. I wasn't going for the robes or TV though so all and all this was a great stay. " - "Considering the cabins are in a large RV park, it was pretty quiet. And made our stay in the Glacier NP park wonderful! I would recommend to all! "

The staff were very helpful and we loved being able to fish right outside our door!" - "We stayed at a different location every night. Paddle Ridge was hands down the best accommodations of the week. We had a party of 13 and all of us were sad that we were only staying there one night. We booked 3 cabins and all were superb. We had a late check in and staff called us to give us check in instructions and it was exactly like they said. Our cabin was so nice we thought there had been a mistake on what they had given us. I may make another trip to Glacier JUST to stay there again. "

Turnkey vacation! If you've ever wanted to explore Glacier National Park (GNP) our vacation rental is for you! An exquisite location & a remarkable property. Whether by car, train or plane, traveling can be fatiguing, stressful & downright complicated. One of the last details of concern you should fret about is how close the park is. Relax. Within walking distance to West Glacier Village & just above the iconic Belton Chalet, you will find this location extraordinarily convenient. Nestled in a pine forest, on a ridge overlooking the west entrance, you will find privacy, seclusion & serenity. Upon your arrival kick off your shoes for a respite or lace up your hiking boots for an adventure in the park. Either way just knowing your a step away from restaurants, a general store, ice cream parlor, putt-putt golf, bar, souvenir shop, Glacier Raft Co Lake McDonald & Apgar Village provides a pleasant level of accommodation & enjoyment. You will find our home for 4 guests is spacious, private, charming & full of all the amenities we could think of, including but not limited to, comfortable beds with linens, dishes, kitchenware, utensils, kitchen & bath towels, washer & dryer, A/C, gas fireplace, gas grill, open floor plan with large picture windows, campfire pit & a deck accessible off the great room/kitchen & too many other items to list. Pack your hiking boots, expedition gear, backpack, day pack, fly rods, camera, shades, sunscreen, hat, different layers of clothing, hydration bottles, maps & itinerary. We'll furnish the bear spray! Cozy, close & convenient. Can you hear that? Sounds like the perfect vacation is calling you.
Powder Days!
In Montana, frosty temps and falling snow usher in an action-packed season of wintery fun and adventure. You can ski or snowboard at one of the areas 2 ski resorts. Not a downhill skier? No problem! With snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and more, there's something for everyone who wants to play in the snow. The snow can arrive as early as October and can linger through May. Montana offers one of the longest winter season in the lower 48 states to skate, schuss, glide and soar.
Glacier Ridge Resort provides snow shoes and poles in various sizes for adults and children. We also have maps, books and trail suggestions available for our guests.
Travelers should bring sturdy winter boots and dress in layers for a variety of winter conditions.
Traveling by train? Please note: West Glacier Train station is located at the bottom of the mountain from the property. This working railroad line runs parallel to Highway 2 in West Glacier. A slight rumbling can be felt in the house when a train passes by. The trains do not blow a horn when they pass through the area since West Glacier does not have an intersecting road with the trains. The history of Glacier is based on these rail lines and is an interictal part of the location.
Ring Security camera with motion lights is located on the porch next to the front door.
Timed entry vehicle reservations are required for entrance at some GNP Entrances.

- "This place is absolutely beautiful! Comfortable and packed with amenities! Fully stocked kitchen. Everything was very organized and efficient! The power went out for a bit due to substation issues. We were notified right away and kept up to date on the expected time for return of power. Our stay could not have been more perfect! Thank you Jeff and Kelly for the use of your home!" - "This is one of best vacation rentals we have ever stayed in. Location is great for spending time in GNP. Owners are most communicative I have ever seen. House is stocked with just about everything you need for visiting the park including ice chests, hiking poles, bear spray, maps etc. Lots of books for planning your trip in the house plus games etc. Kitchen is well stocked including spices and basics like flour and vegetable spray. Worked out great for our family of four adults. If you go, check out the Glacier Highland restaurant. Its a short walk down the hill and really good (but pricey). Not what you would expect in a small tourist area."

This new 1110 sq foot log cabin sits in a perfect location. Out the back door is the Glacier View Golf Course and out the front door the Middle Fork of the Flathead River which offers excellent trout fishing. We are in West Glacier which provides the best access to all of the corners of Glacier National Park; including the famous "Going to the Sun Highway", the Alaska-like North Fork Road, and the backcountry roads into the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
After a busy day hiking, rafting, fishing, or exploring the Park you will love coming back to this cozy home. The cabin is constructed with solid blue pine logs and post and beam craftsmanship. In the great room, there is a cathedral ceiling and wood stove. A loft adds space for kids to play or watch television on the flat-screen TV. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and cherry cabinets in the kitchen provide a great setting for baking a huckleberry pie!
The elegant yet rustic interior has hardwood floors and reclaimed wood stairway. There is a Queen bedroom upstairs with half bath and a loft area with a full futon to sleep two more. Downstairs is a Queen bedroom with a full bathroom. There are a washer and dryer on the main floor, as well.
Relax on the timber frame covered front porch with a beverage after a long day of hiking or barbecue in the back yard.
There are a ukulele and a classical guitar (if the strings are still intact :))
There are MANY different activities in this area and as parents, hikers, bikers, fishermen and river runners we are happy to share our knowledge! Don't hesitate to contact us if the calendar is booked--we may have blocked dates for ourselves or friends.
Note: please feel free to ask questions or give us suggestions!
- "Literally minutes from the entrance to going to the sun road. This rental was spotless and absolutely beautiful. Better then we could have even imaged and at an extremely reasonable rate. My only complaint was the Wi-Fi was extremely slow/ I wasn’t able to do some work items. But the cafe around the corner had strong Wi-Fi so I was able to complete urgent work items like that." - "WE LOVED THIS PLACE! It is cozy and comfortable and a great place to come back to after an exhausting day in GNP. It is literally the best location you could ask for as far as proximity to GNP but also the little town of West Glacier for mini golf, rafting outfitter and grocery. The gas station is also a camp/gift shop and all this is 3 minutes away, but you don't know it because you feel like you are in the country. Also, this cabin has every amenity you need as well as a well stocked kitchen. We had a glitch in our trip, that was completely our fault and Mona was so communicative and offered our crazy family a little grace as well. I cannot recommend this place enough. We are 100% coming back--maybe next time without the kids! Thank you Mona for your part in making this our favorite vacation yet!"

All of the bedrooms have great views that provide a peaceful end to your day and brighten the start of the next one. Upstairs you will find a full bath with laundry facilities while the downstairs has a bathroom with shower and sauna.
Sit in the cedar and brick living room with your morning coffee and view Lubeck Ridge, Calf Robe Mountain, Firebrand Pass and the occasional deer, moose, coyotes, elk and bear that make the area their home. - "Everything was as advertised and we loved our stay. Great communication by hosts and loved the spacious property and proximity to the river." - "This cabin is fabulous. If you ever want to live in a log cabin in the woods this place is a must. It is log cabin kitted out for the 23rd Century. It is very understated. A beautiful book on the creation of the going to the sun road is in the living room. Thank you Ellen Blankenship." - "We loved staying in this cabin on our trip to Montana. If you're looking to go to Glacier National Park most days, the access to the park from here is great. The cabin was comfortable and had a fairly well stocked kitchen. I was nervous about the warm summer days and the lack of AC, but it was honestly not an issue. The access to the river is very easy and our daughter loved the visits from the dogs and visiting the horses in the evening. Thanks for letting us make great memories here :)"

**PLEASE NOTE: Due to increasing visitation, Glacier National Park has implemented a Ticketed Reservation system for some of the roads in the Park, including the Going to the Sun Road. These reservations are IN ADDITION to the regular Park Pass required to get into the Park. Please visit the Park's official website and familiarize yourself with the most up-to-date information so you can secure tickets as soon as possible for the dates you desire; details/regulations may change, year-to-year, as the Park fine-tunes the system, so make sure to check back regularly. - "We had a great stay in Apgar House! The house is in a wonderful location. It’s a VERY short walk to Eddie’s, gift shops, Glacier Outfitters, the nature center, and most importantly Lake McDonald! We loved the convenience of walking down to the lake to enjoy the water and views after a day of hiking. The house is comfortable and clean. The stairs going into the property need to be taken with care, but other than that, the property is great. The manager at Eddie’s was awesome with any questions or needs we had. We would stay again."

We have a wonderful base-camp for your Glacier Park and Montana wilderness adventures!
**Our cabin is within close proximity of the eastern entrance to Glacier Park (the Saint Mary entrance) where there is NO VEHICLE RESERVATION REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE on the Going to the Sun Road.**
For more information on Glacier and the vehicle reservation system visit: https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/vehicle-reservations.htm
Our cabin is located in Essex, MT; a small community sandwiched between Glacier National Park and the Great Bear Wilderness. Essex is a quaint rail-road town with a hand-full of year-round residents. We are nestled between the tracks and the creek and guests can expect to hear passing trains as well as the muddled sounds of Essex creek.
We are minutes away from the Walton Ranger Station (a quieter entrance entrance into the park), 30.9 miles from West Glacier, 29.7 miles from East Glacier, MT and right across the railroad tracks from hiking trails into the Great Bear Wilderness. The cabin has two covered porches and a lovely patio area that includes a fire pit.
The cabin is small but cozy. It has an open-floor plan that includes a king-sized bed in a loft, a full bathroom, a small but complete kitchen, and a sofa. There is no television but guests are welcome to use the WIFI to stream and entertainment they desire.
We are both people who live and love in the outdoors. Our goal is to create a space that brings the outside in and inspires folks to get out on their next adventure. Fishing, hiking, rafting, backpacking, horse riding and nature-walking are all easy and convenient from our location!
- "What a beautiful cabin. So cute and cozy. Enjoyed sitting by the fire, on the upper and lower deck and going for a walk around the neighborhood. It was a great place to stay. The place has everything set up so nicely you feel right at home and welcome. We totally recommend." - "Our family visited glacier national park and loved coming back to the cabin. There is so much to explore in glacier and this cabin is not that far away. It is quiet and away from everything, although there are trains that go by once in a while. This is a very nice cabin and would definitely stay again."

This newly remodeled year round home looks directly into the Glacier Park. Its always a great place to stay when visiting Glacier. Early season when the Going to the Sun Road may not be open over Logan’s Pass the cabins location is perfectly situated to access both sides of the Park! It is two stories with two bedrooms up stairs, a king room and a queen room. Downstairs there is another queen room, the kitchen/dining area, bathroom & living room.
It’s uniquely decorated in Montana decor inside and out. There is a BBQ area on one side of the house and a fire pit area on the other with plenty of seating.
All towels, linens, comforters, blankets, kitchenware, pots & pans, utensils, refrigerator and microwave are new.
The location looks into Glacier Park from the front and goes into the National Forest Service in the back.
The house stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The house is a great spot to enjoy the park, but not the crowds. You can do a full circle tour of the park from this location. Two Medicine is very convenient as is the east side of the park from here. There are hiking trails located close to the house, rather inside or outside the park.
West Glacier, East Glacier and surrounding areas can be very hectic, this location is not. In the winter it’s considered very remote. In the summer it’s located conveniently next to Glacier Park. In the spring it’s a unique location to access both the east and west sides of the park especially if the Going to the Sun Road hasn’t opened yet!
A new game room with a pool table and a foosball table has recently been added.
If you have any questions please call me or text 406 260 6576.
Thank, Bill Caron

- "This cabin was the perfect location for us to land after our many miles hiking and exploring GNP. Because we were centrally located, we were able to visit the south, the east, many glacier and west entrances. If you are not able to stay inside of the park, it’s important to succumb to the reality of driving. The cabin is situated right on the highway which allowed for easy access. We were able to get to trailheads before 8am no problem. The cabin was also very clean, beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was stocked for all our cooking needs. We loved the cabin vibe and the kids loved the game room. The cabin stays cool, no worries in summer months. Also, while the cabin is close to the hiway and that is communicated, I would tell you not to worry about noise. The windows can be shut and it’s hardly noticeable. Bill was also an excellent host. Responses were immediate and kind. He even stocked water for us, which was a bonus. I would recommend this place for sure and would absolutely return!!!"

In the winter months, cook and bake in the kitchen, do puzzles, take naps in the extremely comfy beds, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing on the nearby trails, backcountry ski, head over to Whitefish for resort skiing, and enjoy the aurora borealis and star gazing. **For travels during October-April, please be mindful that you are booking for a time when the weather can be seasonally unpredictable. We love this area for the great cross-country/backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and aurora borealis viewing. Please be aware that the temperature can drop below 0 and there can be very strong wind gusts in the area. The roads are plowed and maintained, however, if there is weather in the forecast, you are encouraged to have proper snow tires/chains/4WD to ensure safe travels.
Notes on seasonal animals/insects:
Bears are frequent visitors to the property. They are most active in early spring and late summer/fall, but they are seen on the property throughout the summer. Please be alert, keep all food and food containers/coolers inside, and carry bear spray. There are also wolf, moose, coyote, cow, and other wild animals that roam.
As far as insects go, spring is a popular time for mosquitos. Bring layers and bug spray. They mostly choose to hang out around dusk/dawn, so we try to stay inside during those times. August-September is prime moth season around here. Bears can eat up to ~20,000 per day, so we try to live with them rather than against them. They can sneak into the cabin occasionally, but they are harmless. September-October is black fly season.
If you have any questions, you are always welcome to reach out!
PARK INFO: A reminder that the ticketed entry system affecting the West Glacier entrance to the Going to the Sun Road and the North Fork area begins to release tickets 120 days in advance, beginning 02/13/25. This first release of tickets is valid for 06/13/25. The Two Medicine Valley and the St. Mary entrance to the Going to the Sun Road do not require a special vehicle pass. There will also be a small number of tickets released again, 24 hours prior.
The Many Glacier Valley will be under serious construction, and access will be limited in a different way than the rest of the park.

- "We absolutely loved staying here. Location was unbeatable! Clean, secure, and accommodating. Highly recommend staying here for your Glacier trips." - "Just outside of the park entrance this was an amazing base camp for all Glacier activities. We were lucky enough to snag a going to the sun road pass however without one you might be in for added inconvenience going thru the park and have to rely on shuttle service." - ""Steps Away" is the perfect name for this cabin. It was the perfect location and a VERY short walk to the stores in West Glacier Village. The house was clean and a great set up for those with kids as there is a separate game room and a sitting area that gives them their own space to watch TV, play games, and just have fun, while the adults play cards/relax after after a long day of hiking. My son, who just days before was worried about this trip limiting his video game time, was begging to stay and move in to this cabin as our new home. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for the perfect spot to stay for their trip to Glacier."

This cozy cabin is truly wonderful year round. In the warmer months, hike in Glacier National Park or the Badger, bike the iconic Going-to-the-Sun road and more, kayak in Two Medicine or other nearby lakes, or sip a glass of wine and watch the sunset over the mountains. Come use our speedy Starlink wifi to work remotely for the week in a beautiful wonderland.

All sorts of wildlife have been seen from the windows, wildflowers abound in spring, and serviceberries can be picked right outside the door in late summer. Bears (we provide bear spray!), deer, coyotes, moose, fox and a diverse array of birds are abundant, making this a hiking and wildlife lover's paradise. The cabin is only 2 miles from the park as a crow flies, and just 3 from the nearest trailhead, and one of our favorite hikes. We are about 1 mile from East Glacier Park and its shops, restaurants, Amtrak station, and lodge, the gateway to the gorgeous and quiet Two Medicine region of the park. Take a 45 minute drive to Saint Mary to check out the east entrance of the renowned Going-To-The-Sun road. Or continue on another 30 minutes to the Many Glacier Hotel. There is no TV in our cabin, we have found that our guests love to unplug and have an adventure! Fishing in the local area is tremendous, access to Glacier, the Lewis and Clark National Forest, and tribal lands is unparalleled from here- it is our ideal location.
We also have two other cabins for rent on the property with terrific mountain views in case you have a larger party or event and are looking for a bit more space- ask us about booking both!

Notes on seasonal animals/insects:
Bears are frequent visitors to the property. They are most active in early spring and late summer/fall, but they are seen on the property throughout the summer. Please be alert, keep all food and food containers inside, and carry bear spray.

- "My family LOVED our stay in this cute & cozy cabin! Everything was so clean and well-thought-out. We just showed up with a few groceries, and everything else we needed was on-hand. It's super convenient to the Two Medicine entrance of Glacier NP, and not a bad drive up to the St. Mary and Many Clacier entrances. Our one regret is that we were having so much fun in the park that we didn't get to relax in this cabin quite as much as we wanted to!"

- "Rising Wolf Ranch is not your average vacation destination. It is even better for those of us who like to stay off the beaten track yet close to a national Park and Montana wilderness. The property is exactly as billed . It is very simple as is the wonderful home-cooked food. We liked it so much that we rebooked in two years. It was a great family adventure. The hosts were very accommodating and opened their beautiful ranch and hearts to our family."

Step into a luxury barn-wood and turquoise-aspen paneled caboose named for James Jerome Hill, the empire builder behind the Great Northern Railway. These luxury accommodations echo the theme of Great Northern's sleeping cars while taking your comfort to another level. Sleeps up to 4 with queen size beds in the master bedroom and cupola. Appointed kitchen with lotus granite countertop, 4 burner gas stove, oven, refrigerator and microwave. Private bathroom with shower and heated floor.
The JJ caboose creatively blends wood, leather and stone to reflect Montana’s rich flora, fauna and landscape. Walls of turquoise aspen and rustic barn wood, accented with recycled chocolate leather, warmly envelope the soothing leather furnishings.
The bedroom is walled in spalted birch and barn wood, accented with recycled leather. The queen size bed has a denim duvet adorned with a Glacier Park Pendleton and Hudson Bay pillow shams, echoing the theme of Great Northern’s sleeping cars.
The kitchen boasts a full refrigerator, gas range, microwave and copper sink. Lotus granite countertops, glazed hickory cabinetry, and the blue pine eating bar compliment the rich wood interior.
The bathroom and shower are framed by walls of travertine stone accented with green rainforest marble tiles.
J.J.’s cupola has been converted to an upper bunk with a "full" bed, complete with a view of the railroad mainline. It's accessible by a built-in ladder with handrails. It’s finished in blue pine with the same walnut flooring as the rest of the caboose. A Pendleton blanket tops the full size bed. The kids will love sleeping on top of the world!
The barn wood throughout J.J. displays 12 different pieces of antique barbed wire from the late 1800s, when Montana became a state.
- "The caboose was very charming and clean. Too bad construction was still going on for the main Inn. " - "We very much enjoyed our stay in this cool and unique lodging. We were not aware until we arrived that this is part of a new resort—Loge—that is currently being renovated. This place will be even better once that is complete. The trains run close by, which is fun and romantic, but not overly noisy. The west entrance to Glacier is about 30 minutes from here, with it also being a good place to stay if you also want to visit the east side of Glacier. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the kitchen was adequately set up for the basics. The host went above and beyond to help us with getting a memory card for our camera after we realized we forgot it, allowing us to still enjoy our day in the park instead of running errands."
