Welcome to The Woodridge Retreat! A spacious, pet-free family home...residing on over an acre of wooded land...in a peaceful, friendly community on Woodridge Lake.

The house has an inviting, open floor plan, and is both elegant and cozy. It can accommodate up to eight people. The master bedroom and bath are on the main floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, and a loft/common area with a comfortable queen sofa bed, if needed. I have a two-night minimum stay requirement.

The screened porch and adjoining deck are wonderful for relaxing and dining during the warmer months. During autumn, leaf-peepers can enjoy the spectacular leaves and covered bridges, as well as a fire pit on the patio. In the winter, you may enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace, and when the snow begins to fall, skiers are just minutes away from Mohawk Ski Area!

There is a two-week minimum stay between June 1st and September 30th. If you rent for two weeks, or more, you will have access to the lake and its amenities...less than a ten-minute walk...and a two-minute drive or bike ride! As a temporary member, you must register with the office, pay parking and associated fees, and follow the rules and regulations of the WLPOA.

Amenities for renters who stay two weeks, or more, include a beautiful lakefront clubhouse, marina, four beaches, eight tennis courts (4 clay and 4 hard courts), a pool, gym, basketball court, and playground. You will also have access to my two kayaks (paddles and PFDs), at your own risk.

Children can join the summer camp, be on the swim team, and take tennis lessons. Activities may include yoga, pilates, aqua exercises, birding, and biking. You can picnic and play corn hole or volleyball. There's a band playing every week and weekend, throughout the summer. You can dance on the beach under the moonlight!

There are two bikes (with helmets) and a set of golf clubs in the basement, available to all renters, at your own risk. There are plenty of board and lawn games, books, and music for both children and adults to enjoy. There is a gas barbecue with tools, and beach equipment for the beach (chairs, umbrella, totes, picnic supplies, toys, floats, towels, cooler, etc).

Woodridge Lake offers a vibrant, year-round social calendar (for renters staying at least two weeks), and the community is filled with warm and friendly people. In the summertime, there could be a Cardboard Box Boat Race during the day, and a Hawaiian Luau Party at night.

In the winter months, there is skating and ice fishing on the lake. There might be workshops in printmaking, drawing, and stained glass for adults...and fossil casting for children. There may be a concert in the clubhouse, as well as, Trivia Night, and an Ugly Sweater Party!

Goshen, in Litchfield County, resides in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, world-renowned for their natural beauty. You will appreciate having a car for plenty of scenic drives through this rural and quaint, small-town area. The Village Market & Gas is close by, but if you should need some major shopping (Stop and Shop, Target, CVS, etc.), you will find it all in Torrington, less than ten miles away. The towns of Litchfield and Bantam are around six or seven miles away, and are also great places to shop.

Throughout the area, you will find great restaurants, live theatre and music, ballet, movie houses, antique stores, and unique shops. Just a few miles away, there is a ski area, golf course, and race track, as well as, great hiking, birding, river rafting, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, and covered bridges.

NOTES:

- Please respect that I host a smoke- and pet-free home. Smoking is permitted on the screened porch, deck, and front stoop, only.

- You must have permission...and there will be surcharges...for an early arrival, delayed departure, and extra guests beyond my maximum capacity of eight people.

- No access to the lake or its amenities, unless your stay is for two, or more, weeks.

- Guests may be charged an extra cleaning fee for mishaps, and unusual circumstances, including failing to turn off utilities (AC and/or heat) upon leaving, which may require a house check.

- Unfortunately, it is not possible (nor allowed) to charge your electric vehicle(s) at this time.

- No cancellation policy after March 31st for reservations made beginning Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend. There is a two-week minimum stay requirement during this peak season.

Light and airy, freshly remodeled cottage. Just two minutes from historical Litchfield which boasts shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Across the street is a working dairy farm where you can get fresh milk, maple syrup, and veggies. You can go up the street just a short distance and grab a bottle of wine at Sunset Vineyard and some chocolate at Thorncrest Farm. Arethusa Dairy is also close by where you can enjoy their famous ice cream and cheese. This is a foodies dream vacation.
You can cook in the new kitchen or grill on the deck while enjoying the sounds of nature.
There are many lakes and hiking trails nearby where you can kayak, or mountain bike.

We are flexible as we go back and forth between Litchfield County and Vero Beach Florida. Located i lovely Woodridge Lake, a private community, this contemporary lake home is a short walk to the private sandy beach, 10 minutes from the Litchfield Green, and 20 minutes from Mohawk Mountain. Northern Farm and Flowers, Goshen's premier year-round provisions market, nursery and U-pick flower farm (the dahlias are amazing) is nearby, as is the Connecticut Wine Trail and Sunset Meadow Vineyards, New England's premier Vineyard. The area is known for its parks, hiking trails, restaurants, boutique shopping and antique stores. It's even convenient to Bradley Airport in Hartford at 41 miles (about an hour) away.

The pictures show the lovely open floor plan with large living room with roaring fireplace with plenty of room for family and friends, along with a spacious dining area and kitchen. This sun-drenched area opens directly onto the spacious deck with gas firepit bringing the outdoors in and adding a cozy outdoor space for gathering for cocktails or to make smores. There is a screened porch with dining table to eat al fresco on beautiful nights.

The first floor master bedroom suite includes the bedroom, bathroom and office/4th bedroom with desk and office setup, including high-speed internet and the option for a murphy bed.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs, downstairs a great rec room for the kids and their friends.There is also a ‘secret room” playroom for children with book cases and beanbags chairs. The new lower level includes a family room with sofas, chairs, smart TV, games and bunk beds for visiting family and friends.Available for the long weekend or the whole season!

Guests staying more than 2 weeks have access to the Woodridge Lake clubhouse with its lakefront deck and swimming pool, tennis, private beaches and all amenities including the private gym and more.

From the practical - dishwasher, washer dryer, cable, plenty of parking and high-speed internet, to the indulgent - the Connecticut Wine Trail, U-pick flowers, kayaking and paddle-boarding, private club with tennis, pickle, gorgeous pool, there is everything here you will need for a wonderful famiy ski vacation or even the whole season.! There's even a snack bar for family dining with the kids overlooking the lake in summer.
But during the winter the draw is skiing, sledding, skating and tuning. Mohawk, Butternut and other ski areas are close and make for a fun family day of skiing- much less expensive than the Stattins of the world. These mountains are perfect for children and families to learn and ski together.
And when it's time for a romantic evening for two The Litchfield Inn, Marketplace. Winvian and so much more is an easy ride down the road (about 10 minutes.)

Our lovingly cared for lakefront home invites you for rest and relaxation. Jump off the dock for a swim or paddleboard / kayak the length of the lake. Our home is a 1790s Federal Colonial located in the heart of Litchfield County. Vineyards, Mohawk ski resort, a covered bridge, lakes, antique shops, art galleries and wonderful restaurants are nearby. A bison farm is across the street, and we provide WiFi, board games and streaming TVs. Litchfield town is a short drive and has grocery stores, pharmacies and other necessities. Since this is our home, WiFi/cable/linens/cookware/other necessities come with this rental.

Although the house has 6 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, we try to contain wear and tear, so please see the occupant limit below. As reflected in the pictures, there is an eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, study, library, upstairs social room and outdoor screened patio. Every visitor marvels at the amount of space and the way in which the layout enables privacy if two separate adult couples will be using the home.

This is the ideal, inexpensive weekend get-away for someone who loves rustic charm, values space and is looking for relaxation. Although we do our best to well-maintain our home, it was built centuries ago so unexpected snafus may occur (and our rental is priced accordingly). If you are looking for a modern home with dishwasher, A/C, stainless steel appliances, etc, this is not the place for you.

The Wassaic MetroNorth train station is about 40 minutes away, and it takes less than two hours to reach our home from NYC (1.5 hours from Greenwich).
