Welcome to The Woodridge Retreat! A spacious, pet-free family home...residing on over an acre of wooded land...in a peaceful, friendly community on Woodridge Lake.
The house has an inviting, open floor plan, and is both elegant and cozy. It can accommodate up to eight people. The master bedroom and bath are on the main floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, and a loft/common area with a comfortable queen sofa bed, if needed. I have a two-night minimum stay requirement.
The screened porch and adjoining deck are wonderful for relaxing and dining during the warmer months. During autumn, leaf-peepers can enjoy the spectacular leaves and covered bridges, as well as a fire pit on the patio. In the winter, you may enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace, and when the snow begins to fall, skiers are just minutes away from Mohawk Ski Area!
There is a two-week minimum stay between June 1st and September 30th. If you rent for two weeks, or more, you will have access to the lake and its amenities...less than a ten-minute walk...and a two-minute drive or bike ride! As a temporary member, you must register with the office, pay parking and associated fees, and follow the rules and regulations of the WLPOA.
Amenities for renters who stay two weeks, or more, include a beautiful lakefront clubhouse, marina, four beaches, eight tennis courts (4 clay and 4 hard courts), a pool, gym, basketball court, and playground. You will also have access to my two kayaks (paddles and PFDs), at your own risk.
Children can join the summer camp, be on the swim team, and take tennis lessons. Activities may include yoga, pilates, aqua exercises, birding, and biking. You can picnic and play corn hole or volleyball. There's a band playing every week and weekend, throughout the summer. You can dance on the beach under the moonlight!
There are two bikes (with helmets) and a set of golf clubs in the basement, available to all renters, at your own risk. There are plenty of board and lawn games, books, and music for both children and adults to enjoy. There is a gas barbecue with tools, and beach equipment for the beach (chairs, umbrella, totes, picnic supplies, toys, floats, towels, cooler, etc).
Woodridge Lake offers a vibrant, year-round social calendar (for renters staying at least two weeks), and the community is filled with warm and friendly people. In the summertime, there could be a Cardboard Box Boat Race during the day, and a Hawaiian Luau Party at night.
In the winter months, there is skating and ice fishing on the lake. There might be workshops in printmaking, drawing, and stained glass for adults...and fossil casting for children. There may be a concert in the clubhouse, as well as, Trivia Night, and an Ugly Sweater Party!
Goshen, in Litchfield County, resides in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, world-renowned for their natural beauty. You will appreciate having a car for plenty of scenic drives through this rural and quaint, small-town area. The Village Market & Gas is close by, but if you should need some major shopping (Stop and Shop, Target, CVS, etc.), you will find it all in Torrington, less than ten miles away. The towns of Litchfield and Bantam are around six or seven miles away, and are also great places to shop.
Throughout the area, you will find great restaurants, live theatre and music, ballet, movie houses, antique stores, and unique shops. Just a few miles away, there is a ski area, golf course, and race track, as well as, great hiking, birding, river rafting, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, and covered bridges.
NOTES:
- Please respect that I host a smoke- and pet-free home. Smoking is permitted on the screened porch, deck, and front stoop, only.
- You must have permission...and there will be surcharges...for an early arrival, delayed departure, and extra guests beyond my maximum capacity of eight people.
- No access to the lake or its amenities, unless your stay is for two, or more, weeks.
- Guests may be charged an extra cleaning fee for mishaps, and unusual circumstances, including failing to turn off utilities (AC and/or heat) upon leaving, which may require a house check.
- Unfortunately, it is not possible (nor allowed) to charge your electric vehicle(s) at this time.
- No cancellation policy after March 31st for reservations made beginning Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend. There is a two-week minimum stay requirement during this peak season.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hosting you at The Woodridge Retreat! :)

Prana Residence-Spa is a holistically designed residence provides total relaxation and the transformation of vital life (Prana).
It is located on five and half acres atop the forested hills of Cornwall Bridge in Litchfield County, Connecticut, less than two hours from Manhattan.
Prana Residence-Spa accommodates 7 guests and features a spacious living/dining room with a dramatic 20-foot high dome ceiling and a signature wood burning fireplace. A fully equipped open kitchen with its stone countered bar looks out into the large yet cozy living room. The residence has three attractive bedrooms, a loft, and three baths. The master bedroom is on the ground floor. A spiral staircase connects the living room to the library/meditation area and the guest bedrooms.
Prana Residence-Spa features a large indoor pool, sauna, deep, cold plunge tub, indoor Jacuzzi, hot tub and solarium, which can be also used as a massage therapy room. The Spa facilities are for exclusive use of Prana Residence--Spa guests. Its unique and inspiring structure has made a significant impact in the building industry and has been frequently written about in national and international publications, such as the New York Times. Additionally, its environmentally LEED chosen materials keep the building cool in the summer (without need for air-conditioning) and toasty warm in the winter (with minimum heating). However for exceptionally hot days, we have installed an air conditioning unit in the living room.
The area is known for its diversity of birds, including wild turkeys, which one can often view while sitting in the lounge. Its natural landscaping and large boulders, as well as old trees, attract different wildlife including friendly deer.
The place is available with advance reservation, with a minimum stay of three days. The rate is $750 a night plus a $300 cleaning fee, which covers the disinfection of the spa facilities after each guest. We are pet friendly, however, we charge $50.00 per night, per pet and an additional $100.00 refundable security deposit for each pet. This payment has to be given to the owner directly and not through VRBO.
After you booked this property the host will send you a Booking Information form requesting the names and approximate ages of each person in your group as well as the license plate of the cars that you will bring to the property. Your booking also confirm your agreement to the rules and regulations of this property which is attached.

Charming, Rustic, Casual Summer Home set in the middle of a nature preserve.
This cottage is not fancy, but fully furnished, with 4 small bedrooms (2 queens, 1 dbl, 2 twins plus a extra twin in the upstairs open hall), full kitchen with D/W, and washer/dryer in basement. One bedroom on main floor (queen), 3 bedrooms (queen, double, two twins) upstairs. Main bath upstairs, with small powder room on main floor. Stone patio with table and chairs and BBQ, and a big grass yard that is mowed regularly in the summer. The house was built ~1830, around a great stone fireplace with hand-hewn chestnut beams, and is great for families. Floors aren't completely flat, but it's a perfect, peaceful retreat for a couple or two. The main bathroom is on the second floor, with a shallow bathtub/shower combo. Water is from a well, that produces the best drinking water on the east coast! You can walk to a swimming pond and walk the local trails, incl the Appalachian. Or you can drive anywhere in the foothills of the Berkshires, you're 2 miles from the closest small deli/grocery in Cornwall Bridge, and 7 miles from Kent, CT, or 10 miles to Bantam / Litchfield.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. This house is in a rural country location. You are surrounded by a deciduous forest, there are lots of animals: deer, racoon, porcupines, foxes, occasional black bear! There are mice and chipmunks, and sometimes these tiny critters come inside. We de-mice regularly, but if you are afraid of mice, nature, or forests, this is NOT the place for you.
2. The Beehive is part of an ASSOCIATION, where the land is owned in common. The ASSOCIATION WILL NOT RENT to convicted sex offenders. Dogs must be in control, and excessive barking or aggressive behavior is not allowed.
Lots of fabulous side trips in the area.
Loads of hiking trails, inc the Appallachian.
Take the train into NYC if you need a big city hit, closest station is Harlem Valley/Wingdale on the Metro line.
Drive up to Mass Moca in western MA, it's about 2.5 hours to North Adams. Boston is 4 hours, and Vermont and Maine are a days drive.
Kent, Bantam, New Preston, Litchfield and Torrington have good restaurants, and great shops.
The Beehive is well-loved by it's owners, and the walls are adorned with lovely paintings and antique furniture mixed with vacation necessities. We have Optimum internet service. There is no TV service, but there is a TV, and a Roku. There is a stereo you can cast your tunes through. A place to relax, unwind, and be close to nature.
- "We spent a fantastic 5 weeks at the Beehive. The house is well stocked with dishes and beds. The perfect getaway with friends and family. We cooked, relaxed, swam in the pond, painted, and enjoyed. Easy drive to a ton of farm stands, markets, and other essentials. Our daughter went to camp. It is a great location. We would definitely come again. Gwen was excellent with communication and we felt well taken care of." - "This house is a perfect match for me and my active family. Surrounding rustic area excellent for trail walking."

- "Great place. Easy directions to check in/out" - "Very nice 3 BD, 1 1/2 bath in quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to the Housatonic River and West Cornwall Covered Bridge." - "Absolutely beautiful cottage exactly as pictured inside and out. " - "The house was cozy with all amenities available. Loved the surroundings and trees. " - "The property was beautiful. It did look as if it had not fully been picked up before us, the yard furniture was on the hill of the yard and there was a glass on the table outside from the people before. Not a big deal but seemed maybe not enough time between guests. I am a decent size dude; I am 6’4 280. The downstairs furniture is not big people-friendly, so if you want to sit comfortably downstairs, it's not happening. However, the upstairs sectional is very comfortable. The beds were super comfortable. Overall, a good experience; the home's devote was gorgeous."

- "My family rented the house for the weekend. Was just as advertised in pictures/details. Lots of space, comfortable bedrooms and fully equipped kitchen made for a great weekend! Only issue (not complaint) was the showers were sensitive and I highly recommend only using one faucet, toilet or shower at a time and you will be fine, but for an older house it was to be expected. We skied at Mohawk (8 min) and Butternut (40 min) both easy, scenic drives. Would absolutly go back! Thank you! "

Stylish, newly renovated 900 sq. ft. one-room cottage overlooking pond and Housatonic River in scenic fly fishing estate. Sleeps three (1 queen bed and pull out sofa for 1) with 1 bath (shower only). Has a Kitchenette (Mini-Fridge, mini-sink, Microwave, coffee maker, paninni maker, dedicated weber outdoor gas grill), nice front porch, sun room, WIFI, large screen TV, fire place, fire pit, bocce court. Fishing on 800 ft. of riverfront on famous "Doctor's Hole" (one of the best fishing holes on the river) with fly fishing lessons and guide services available from the host, who has fished the Housatonic for over 30 years. We live on the property in the main house and the Cottage is very private and secluded. The cottage is a 900 sq. ft. one-room, one bath cabin with a front porch and a sun room. It was recently gut renovated so is in like-new condition. The bathroom has a shower (no tub). The property is very private, with 5 acres at the end of Kirk Road, with sweeping views of the river and the surrounding river valley. The cottage has beautiful views overlooking the pond and the river. The front porch is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee. Aside from fishing, there are opportunities for kayaking, rafting, biking and hiking and there are many local cultural and other attractions along with many good local restaurants.
- "Relaxing stay at the cottage with beautiful views of the river and pond. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, listening to the sounds of nature and taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. The host were attentive yet respectful of our privacy. We look forward to coming back and making this our annual nature retreat."

Warren is located in historic, rural Litchfield County, within a scenic 2-hour drive from NYC. The County is exceptional for its excellent restaurants, spas, antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, farms, historic homes, gardens, vineyards, distilleries, and orchards. The Gilmore Girls creator modeled Stars Hollow, the perfect Connecticut town, after neighboring Washington and the Independence Inn after the Mayflower Inn. Warren is the current or former home to many artists, writers, actors and Wall Street executives – referred to as "more Vermont, than Vermont" and "the un-Hamptons". Nature preserves and Lake Waramaug, offer extensive hiking, biking, and water activities. Mohawk and Sundown Ski Areas , Lime Rock Raceway, and Quassy Amusement Park are all a short drive. - "We had a wonderful time on the property. Loved the house - and the quiet surroundings. The property owner, Steve, was terrific as well." - "Property is spacious and in a lovely setting. Unfortunately, the fifth bedroom is not a bedroom but a loft area containing a single mattress on a dirty boxspring that overlooks a lower level bedroom with exposed ductwork and insulation. The loft area railings are quite open and would be dangerous for children. Electrical chords on the floor are also not child friendly. The kitchen oven appeared to be about 75 degrees cooler than the temperature settings and the pots and pans had to be cleaned before they were usable. Upon arrival there was an infestation of ladybugs and flies which the owner advised were easiest disposed of with the vacuum. We located the vacuum in a downstairs closet with a mousetrap. That night we heard some scurrying behind the wall near that closet and discovered a dead mouse in the trap the following morning. On day three our other family members arrived. The scampering of mice was heard in the walls and a couple of days later a family member discovered 2 more dead mice behind the refrigerator. One was already bloated and was beginning to smell. I contacted the property owner who assured me that all country houses in CT had mice after the first freeze. He did send someone to remove traps and clean rodent droppings from the upstairs bedroom. My husband immediately disposed of the dead mice before the smell became worse. AS I INFORMED THE OWNER, IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THE MICE I WOULD NEVER HAVE RENTED THIS HOME AND EXPOSED MY GRANDSON AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS TO STAYING IN A PLACE WITH LIVE RODENTS. On Thanksgiving morning my husband located and disposed of mouse number 4. Although we had a wonderful time getting together as a family for the first time in over 2 years, it was extremely disappointing that our "luxury" rental was not luxurious at all."

Nestled at the edge of the Sharon Wildlife Area this 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home has an indoor pool and outdoor firepit. The natural landscaping provides an enchanting outdoor space to explore with a seasonal brook that winds through the property on its way to the Housatonic River. The location feels rural while remaining close to destinations like Lime Rock Race Track, Mohawk Ski Mountain, Metro North Wassaic Station and the Hotchkiss School.
- "Our family had a wonderful stay at the beautiful, clean, peaceful Hoyt House. There was plenty of space to gather together as well as spread out. The daffodils were beginning to bloom and there is the sight and sound of a running stream behind the home. We were close to fun things to explore like the Audubon, covered bridge, and Kent waterfalls. Great bakery, restaurants, grocery a short drive away. The heated indoor swimming pool was the biggest hit. We hope to have the opportunity to return to enjoy this beautiful home with responsive hosts and area again."
