This beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated 4BR 2BA home is located just 60 miles from NYC on idyllic Candlewood Lake. Three large bedrooms and one small twin bedroom provide comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to 8 guests. The updated eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to prepare meals. A spacious family room with sectional sofa, large farm table for 8-12, flat-screen with cable and two walls of windows opens to the expansive and furnished deck, complete with a new Weber grill, fire table, and an 8 person hot tub overlooking the lake. This fully remodeled, light filled, 1900 sqft home includes two working fireplaces, a large Great room, spacious living, dining, and sleeping areas, a dedicated office space, a laundry room, a patio, and a back deck. Its lay-out is convenient, with two bedrooms 2 steps up from the main floor. The bedrooms feature fresh, European style bedding. The twin beds downstairs have new green tea-infused mattresses, the sheets are manufactured by women-owned businesses, and the guest toiletries are all natural and infused with essential oils. This New England Cape sits on what was once a sheep farm. The family who owned the land 200 years ago held Dorset sheep, hence the property's name, and as you explore the area, you will see street names that reflect the history of the property. The barn of the main house still has the troughs where they would feed the animals. At one point, the guest house was a local bakery, and an oven in the basement is witness to that venture. The entire property is surrounded by a wooded Land Reserve, ensuring privacy. We have deer, wild turkeys, and hawks that regularly visit our grounds, and from time to time a red fox will cross the property.

The Center of Brookfield and neighboring towns with their restaurants are between a 5- and 15-minute drive away. Kent Falls, the towns of Kent and Litchfield, at the foot of the Berkshire mountains, are a scenic 40-50 minutes away. Other charming towns close to us (within a 15-mile radius) include Newtown, Bridgewater, Roxbury, and New Milford. There are many restaurants, shops, and art galleries around. The Elephant's Trunk, the famous flea market held on Sundays in New Milford from May to October, is a 10-minute drive away.

We live in the main house on the property, and we will leave you as much privacy as you desire. We are always happy to guide you to our favorite local eateries, the hiking trails, access to the lake, and other local activities.

We do have neighbors however our home's location on the perimeter offers considerable privacy away from them. Also, you will not hear road noise (garbage trucks) from this home. You will hear lake noise -sounds of nature part of the time, lake activity the rest of the time.

Roadside Private Parking Area/Lot: Flat (Not Steep) paved & wide enough for 2 cars & 1 trailer; or if no trailer then 4 cars. No street parking. EV charger conveniently located. (Do mention the need for an EV charger upon booking.)

PET POLICY:
1. Pets under 20 lbs can be allowed with a $250 charge & with written request of owner approval.

2. Our landscaping and lawn is not dog friendly. If you are looking for a place to have your pets unleashed to roam free, this is property will not suit your habits/needs.

3. Pets must be walked on the asphalt. Pets must be kept on a leash when walked and cleaned up after. No pets allowed on the lawn/landscaping to keep the lawn greenery green year round.

4. The community is in a walkable community. It is a great place for a long walk with your leashed dog.

5. If you are looking to have your pet roam free, there are dog parks outside of our community, a short drive away called New Fairfield Dog Park & New Milford (Candlewoof) Dog Park.

- "I’m going to be honest! I was initially worried about going due to an update receive by the owner the day of check in. We showed up and what seemed like a mountain, became a molehill. He mentioned a few things needed repair, on check in day which I was not happy about, but they were so insignificant due to all the other amenities, and the location, the views, the beautiful kitchen, the comfortable bed, the privacy, the water actives, and getting to fish off the dock ect, ect, ect! Those are the things that made are stay one of the absolute BEST mini vacations ever! I will say the outdoor grill was either clogged or not working properly and needs repairing or to be replaced. That’s pretty common with grills, not surprising though. We were able to use the gas stove/oven which cooked quickly, and efficiently, and sufficed our personal needs. Overall our stay was a 5. Too many good things to worry about the small. Thank you Vico ! We enjoyed the vacation thoroughly and would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a peaceful stay, connect with nature and a comfortable and large enough space to enjoy your family and friends."

We spent a fantastic, fun filled weekend with friends and their 2 children doing all the lakeside activities you'd hope for - swimming, canoeing, barbecuing, s'mores around the firepit and generally relaxing. Michael, the host, couldn't have been more helpful. Just one other thing to share - the garden is pretty steep (as the photos clearly show, so no complaints) which is a minor work out for people such as myself to get back up to the house from the lake - all in all, not a bad thing, it helped to justify that extra beer!"

Our precious home is a direct waterfront, 5 bedroom property with expansive, western views of Candlewood Lake. Candlewood Lake is Connecticut's largest lake, spanning 11 miles and covering 5420 acres. Only 70 miles to NYC, there is no better large lake this close to the tri-state area. Large backyard with boat dock and at least 25 yards of your own sandy beach. Private large boat dock- bring your own boat or rent one. The boat ramp is 10 minutes away. New beds, furnishing and floors. Furnished screen house. 3 full baths. Outdoor fire pit in summer (indoor wood-burning fireplace in winter). Garage and parking up to 6 cars. Top-of-the-line Oled TVs with Sonos system. Highly rated Casper and Avocado Green mattresses and pillows!

There is a gentle, indiscernible slope to lake from the downstairs level. The backyard is near-level, as opposed to the vast majority of rentals on this lake that require multiple stairs to get to the lake. The flat grade is perfect for both the very young and older guests, as well as the ability for outdoor games/activities.

We have updated our home in the spring of 2022, and we have updated the backyard landscaping in 2024.

Three-night rentals will be considered only on a case by case basis and not in the high seasons.

There is one flight of stairs in the home.

Getting here is best by car. However, Uber/taxi from Danbury MetroNorth station (18minute drive) costs about 20 dollars. Brewster and Southeast are the closest MetroNorth stops on the Harlem line, about 20 minutes away and about 20 dollars. The Harlem line is always a direct train out of grand central station in Manhattan. The Danbury line is either direct (during return rush hour, for example) or requires one transfer, in South Norfolk.

The house uses a septic tank system, so significant water usage and long showers are discouraged.

Please note that although we no longer accept instant booking, and you would have to fill out a template questionnaire regarding out house rules before we accept the reservation. For example, we need to know the exact number and ages of the guests, strict enforcement of noise rules, absolutely no parties or events, limited water usage due to septic capacity concerns, and clear communication about number of day guests, which have to be limited. We have the right to cancel if we are not satisfied with any of your answers.

Please be aware that the home is protected externally by the Ring camera system.

A separate contract, stressing the house rules, must be signed before entering the premises.

After renting four times on Candlewood Lake, we finally found a house that checks all the boxes for us and our two adult children and their partners (and our priciest to date): 3 comfortable King/Queen beds (and more for guests), 3 full bathrooms, spacious kitchen and common areas. Screened in porch was delightful as was the comfy waterfront furniture under the shaded tree, dock, kayaks and small sandy beach water access. The flat yard is rare on Candlewood and a plus for our elderly parents who came to visit. Central location on the lake was helpful despite the heavy boat traffic on the weekends. Location is ideal for shopping and dining. Only drawback was the septic, a minor annoyance in an otherwise finally appointed home."

- "Great property and location" - "stayed here for a week with my wife. plenty of places to relax, dock for swimming (or rafting/floating) close to restaurants and grocery stores. the lake can be a bit busy with boats, more so than i expected so the water can be a bit choppy at times. otherwise the physical location can’t be beat. the house itself was fantastic very clean well stocked, plenty of places to sit and relax. the questions we had were promptly answered by the property manager Lisa. definitely would recommend for adults or older kids; it’s a lot of steps down to the dock but luckily plenty of places to catch your breath if needed on the way back up."

This is an incredible property with a huge lake front, deck and side yards. There is a large open floor plan on the main level: Kitchen, living room and dining room. The MBR / bath is on the main level with 3 additional bedrooms on tbe ground floor. Two of the bedrooms have sliders to the pool / gardens with on-suite bathrooms. The other bedroom has a secret panel door to enter the bedroom. It is one of the coolest features in the house!!! This house is great for large and small families. House is 100% private with a long driveway and lots of parking. Beautifully landscaped gardens with more outdoor seating than you would ever need. Spectacular views during and day and as the sunsets!

There is space at the dock for you to rent one boat (sorry, no jet ski rentals) and dock it at the house. The existing boats and jet skies are not part of the rental.

There is a caretaker on the property. They have completely separated room and entrance but will be around taking care of the property.

A NEW KITCHEN with Butler’s pantry. Stunning. We ask that you do not bring your own grills, trailers, etc. the driveway is large and can accommodate cars so we ask that you not park on the grass. The property is only rented for 2 weeks in the summer so don’t wait to book it!

The lower level bottoms out to the pool and backyard with an uncommonly flat walk down to the water.
Indoors, there is an arcade with two driving games, skeeball, air hockey and a pool table.
There is a gym with a bicycle, treadmill, full wall mirror, and weights.
Upstairs in the loft there is a brand new state of the art theater with 2 rows of stadium seating for 8 plus window seats on either side and even an old fashioned popcorn machine and concession stand area.
Two of the bedrooms, including the master which has deck access, have stunning lake views, the loft bedroom has a view of the pool and partial lake view and the front bedrooms look out onto the trees, which are particularly colorful in the fall.
Located on the quiet cove of Lake Lillinonah, we are in a no-wake area which also freezes in the winter to allow for ice skating and ice fishing. The house and the surroundings are stunning year round.

Please be advised: For the safety and security of our property, our neighbors and our guests, we have installed the Ring video doorbell system to monitor the driveway and the front door. There is absolutely no monitoring of the inside of the home, nor the outside dock or patio areas.

Please note: The owner and family keep a boat at the dock during the summer months and may be on property to take them out on the lake. There is one space on the dock for guests boats.

Our home was designed with relaxation in mind. The decor is a mix of Scandinavian and Bohemian with touches of Mid-Century Modern accents. The lake house is walking distance to the private beach and only a 3 minute drive to Echo Bay Marina, where guests can rent a boat, jet ski, or go water skiing!

Outside features include a fire pit, patio with outside dining table/chairs, gas BBQ, and a fenced in backyard on 3 sides for added privacy. We also have outdoor games in our shed for the whole family to enjoy: corn hole & badminton. The outdoor space is great for a daytime BBQ with friends/family or a quiet night around the fire pit making s'mores.

Inside, our home has a ton of beautiful natural light in all rooms, and is very peaceful and quiet. In the living room, you'll find a comfortable vegan leather sofa and 50" smart TV - equipped with Netflix, Peacock and Disney + subscriptions. We also have a few books and games for guests to enjoy - Chess/Checkers, Jenga, Uno, a deck of cards, puzzles, and kids toys!

Our kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, electric stove, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer, pots/pans, and all the necessary essentials for making a delicious meal.

Our sitting room has 4 comfortable Scandinavian chairs situated around our easy-to-use pellet stove - perfect for a cozy night in! We also have a finished basement with an additional pellet stove, TV, and sliding glass door to the backyard. This space can be used to sleep a 5th guest, as we have an air mattress in the basement closet.

Upstairs you will find the beautiful primary bedroom with a queen bed, comfortable bedding, sitting chair, and workstation. Across the hall is our stylish secondary bedroom with a full size bed and another workstation! We've got you covered if you work from "home." Both rooms have double closets with tons of space. In between the bedrooms is our updated full bathroom equipped with a tub/shower combo and removable hand held shower head. You can also find luxury bath towels, hand towels and wash-clothes in the bathroom closet.

The lake house is super family friendly with a pack n play, high chair, kids toys/books and night lights. About this space
Candlewood Lake House. Close to everything but in its own private Candlewood Shores community, where you can enjoy the private beach, playground, basketball court, baseball diamond, and fields. The house has two kayaks with paddles and vests, which are yours to use during your stay. Enjoy the lake, take a drive to the beautiful northwest corner of Connecticut or take a ride about an hour and a half to New York City. Close proximity to Metro North railway.
The space
The house has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Everything freshly painted brand new fresh linens. You’ll enjoy a new bathroom in the primary bedroom, an updated kitchen with new appliances. There’s a piano here if you like to play. Central air during the warmer months, and the gas fireplace on cooler days. The house has an open floor plan. There is a washer and dryer in the basement. There’s a fully fenced yard with deck through the back slider. You can enjoy a nice meal out there in the warmer months. Lots of lighting and plantings. There is also a deck off the front of the house to watch beautiful sunrises, so you can lounge with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy. Roku TV and you can use your subscription for Netflix or Hulu or whatever you have. Nice furnishings. There is also parking for one to two cars in the driveway but it’s narrow. So you’ll have to park in front and back of one another. There is also offstreet parking in front of the house during certain months.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire main floor, the backyard and the front deck. There is a washer and dryer in the basement. The garage will be locked and is off-limits.
Other things to note
This is a quiet neighborhood. No parties or loud music. But you’re certainly welcome to entertain your family and friends. I hope you will enjoy my home while I am away. It has certainly brought me a lot of joy!

THE SPACE

The Skytopia Lakeside Oasis is a NEWLY RENOVATED private home with incredible sunset lake views of Candlewood Lake. 1 mile from the The Candlewood Inn wedding venue and across from a waterfront restaurant/bar.

This home altogether is able to sleep up to 16 people. Bring your own boat and/or jet ski or rent from the marina’s nearby with our special guest discount! Enjoy your days on the lake paddle boarding, swimming, jumping off the dock, fishing, floating in “Floatopia” and grilling outside.

The Skytopia is directly across the street from Candlewood Lake (the largest lake in Connecticut) and is also across from a waterfront restaurant/bar. Across the street is the large private dock and lake access which is only shared with our one other sister property.

The Skytopia is less than a mile away from the wedding venue, The Candlewood Inn. This house is a perfect location for a groomsmen or bridal party to get ready at or have the option for family/ friends to stay all together. Also a great spot for multiple families or groups of friends to enjoy spending time together.

OUTDOOR

There is private parking in the driveway which can fit up to 6-7 cars, so plan accordingly. As
you exit your vehicle, you walk up a set of stairs to a large oversized deck in the front of the house with beautiful lake views of Candlewood Lake. A few more steps up and you will be on another level of deck, perfect for grilling and dinning outside which is right off the kitchen.

The entire deck is private for you and your guests. You can also walk directly across the street to the waterfront restaurant/bar and enjoy food and drinks by the water.

THE LAKE

You'll have shared access to the dock at the lake which is directly across the street. This area includes an area to swim, float, paddle board and even a place to bring your boat or jet ski! There are 3 paddle boards, one Lily pad and multiple tubes down by the dock to be shared with the one other rental.

You can launch your own boat from Latin's Cove (public launch). You will receive coordinates to the dock, once you book your stay! Latin's Cove is free of charge, but get there early to avoid waiting in line.

Easy to bring some floats and blow them up down by the dock to float in "Floatopia"
The dock is located on the east side of the lake and you'll get sun all day long!

THE HOUSE

When you walk up to the home and sit on the adirondack chairs overlooking the lake you will feel instantly relaxed!

You’ll walk into the kitchen area which is perfect for inside/outside dinning. You’ll find rattan light fixtures that give relaxed boho vibes, an oversized round table which seats 8, the peninsula island seats 3 and there are also extra folding tables and chairs in a closet if you want to host a larger sit down dinner. There is also patio furniture outside to dine at. Kitchen is fully stocked and has a refrigerator, electric stove top with oven and microwave.

Off the kitchen is a living room with 2 story high ceilings with incredible lake views. The living room has a large oversized sleeper sofa, Smart TV and large oversized coffee table to sit around and play games at.

BEDROOM 1

Off the living room is a bedroom with 2 queen beds, 65’ Smart TV, makeup desk with chair, balcony with lake views and en suite. The en suite also has dual purpose and has a washer and dryer, new tile throughout and rain shower. This bathroom is also connected to the back hallway.

BEDROOM 2

As you go up the stairs you come to the upstairs hallway which overlooks the living and the views of the lake. The second bedroom is a “Sky” theme with floor to ceiling cloud wallpaper. You’ll feel like you’re sleeping up in the clouds. The Sky room has 2 queen size beds, a 65’ Smart TV, makeup desk with chair, private balcony with lake views and its own en suite. The en suite is all brand new including, vanity, new tile throughout and rain shower.

BEDROOM 3

The last bedroom upstairs has a “Water” theme. The Water room has a floor to ceiling water wallpaper, 2 queen size beds, a bunk bed with 2 twin size beds, a 65’ Smart TV, makeup desk with chair, private balcony with lake views and its own en suite. The en suite is all brand new including, vanity, new tile throughout and rain shower.

We have blackout curtains in every room to ensure your peaceful sleep. All rooms are completely renovated, have brand new furniture and mattresses, mirror and makeup desk, and hooks for your towels.

The home is stocked with everything you'll need during your stay; dishes, cookware, glasses, towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, shower essentials, cleaning products, laundry and dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels and pack and play.

Bring your own boat/ jet ski or you can rent from a nearby marina. Lakeside Watersports out of Echo Bay Marina will captain a boat for you, pick you up at the dock and teach you any water activity on the lake!

- "This was a nonrefundable booking for family tome help me celebrate the end of my 3-year residency as an Internal Medicine physician so I did everything the owner wanted but still ended up not receiving the additional $300 deposit he asked for the day prior to our stay. The booking required $119 insurance to cover the homeowner which is understandable. On the first day, I received a video indicating the home was cleaned and ready for me however on arrival quickly realized the video did not match the condition of the home, the home had a weird smell, and the floor and bedding were not cleaned however I was expected to wash all bedding and towels prior to vacating the residence. No problem I did that. Only to receive an email from the insurance carrier that the homeowner had filed a claim saying we left a sofa cushion dirty/stained. However, it wasn't until reached out about my deposit that he mentioned this, and has kept my deposit hostage until he "hears back from the insurance"."
