There are bicycles you can ride for free through traditional farming villages. The staff are truly exceptional and conscientious, and the food delicious. - "Helpful Friendly . Beautiful sightseeing " - "I had some initial confusion about the address of the hotel. It was not listed on hotels.com and appeared as Lanshan Wangyue Homestay on Google maps. After communicating with staff via WeChat, the address was clarified for our DiDi driver. Despite this, our stay far exceeded expectations. The location sits among beautiful green mountains which you get to view through a wall to wall window from your room. The hotel is privately owned which I think is quite rare in China and has a boutique feel. Owner Mark Ma personally welcomes you and shows you to your room. The details to things like silk robes, choice teas, self flushing bidet, embroidered thick quality white towels made a big impact. My two boys loved asking “xiao du, xiao du” which is the Chinese version of Alexa to open and close the curtains. We watched Skyfall projected on a big screen from our comfy beds. At sunset, the views from the rooftop were amazing. There’s a rooftop pool, props like a moon, infinity mirror and stairway to heaven to get some Instagram worthy photos. The view by itself though was sublime. The hotel is far enough from the road but close enough to downtown to be peaceful and conveniently located. We enjoyed a varied breakfast. I liked the squash, sweet potato and teas. Boys enjoyed the fried meats, noodles and fried rice. I highly recommend this place. Can’t say enough. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. It really felt like a little paradise!"

- "This was a lovely surprise. It is on the quiet side of the river, meaning you have a 5 minute ferry and a buggy cart ride to get to/from the hotel, but what a blessing that is. The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are outstanding, so helpful, full of advice, and constant care. We went caving with the owner, we did hikes, we rode horses, we went to local shows, and spa making for an amazing three night say. I might suggest checking if the pool is open which it was not, but other than that the staff really make this hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, modern touches and a touch of cute. - "We could not have been happier! The hotel is beautiful - stunningly beautiful!!! The buffet is delicious with ample variety. The room was clean and ready for us upon our arrival. When we arrived at Grand Bravo Hotel from the train station, about 20 minutes taxi, we were very impressed with the massive and fancy lobby. After check-in, we went to the bar with our luggage and realized no one had asked if they could take it to the room. We went back to the desk and had to ask ourself. The room size and amenities were very ample, but whole hotel is smoking and the rooms smell bad, and the air conditioning in the rooms is mediocre at best. On day 2 we went to the travel agency inside the hotel to find no one that spoke English, and even when they brought someone from the front desk to translate they could not book anything for us. Luckily we met another westerner the previous night who was staying at the Sheraton, and told us his booking was easy and the travel agency spoke great English. We decided to go to the Sheraton and book some tours ourself and it was a breeze. I will say the one 5 star aspect of the grand bravo Guilin is the new Ding Xuan Music Bar. We actually came in one day before their grand opening and they gave us a free beer for being their first customers, and told us to come back tomorrow. Here the staff was fantastic and accomodating. We sang karaoke and hung out with them for hours. Lastly the hotel is a little off the beaten path, but a taxi to town is only a 10-20 yuan, so not a huge deal. Make sure to have a translation app on your phone!!"

It felt kind of like staying with friends. The hotel is in a great location for a lot of activities like bamboo river rafting, Ru’Yi Peak, caves, river walk etc. You can rent a bike or a moped in town, which will allow you to access a lot of activities easily. The hotel provides a helpful guidebook and it was really useful for finding things to do.
