The Shearers Lodge is set in a wonderful location fronting the Wellingrove Creek. Sitting on the front verandah, the quaint Matheson Uniting Church is in full view with the backdrop looking down the Matheson Valley between the Waterloo Range. The accommodation was originally the shearers quarters for the working shearing teams on Waterloo Station property. The building is now fully restored, with of course, much more luxury!

The space

The Shearers Lodge is set in its own private surrounding, and close to the old historic shearing shed. The accommodation is perfect for couples or family and group bookings. A group minimum of 4 rooms (8 guests in 4 rooms) is required for exclusive use of the Shearer's Lodge. With the perfect combination of classical style and contemporary comforts, there is access to a fully equipped modern kitchen and lodge room with an amazing stone fireplace. Relax and enjoy what this historic rural property has to offer. Waterloo Station is a great place to explore, with plenty of short walks or for the more energetic, hiking around the hills and ranges wildlife spotting or perhaps you would like to try your hand at fossicking, fishing or enjoying the beautiful Wellingrove Creek flowing through the property. Plenty of lovely swimming holes with turtles, platypus and various fish species in abundance. Fantastic for keen photographers or artists, yoga, well-being groups as well as cycling, car or any other special interest groups. The property is wonderful for couples, families and larger group bookings. For group bookings, the shearers lodgings has 7 bedrooms all with ensuited bathrooms. The lodge room has seating for up to 60 people for group functions.

The yard is big enough for the children to play and fully fenced so it was a no worries mate situation , just like the old days. Exploring the shearers shed and surrounds is a must do. But the highlight of the whole experience was the sapphire fossicking , everybody got so into it that the next day the 2 year old said , are we going digging . Our petite cottage sits on a hobby farm of 60 acres, 10 km from the town of Inverell in the village of Gum Flat. If you are a keen fisherman, boater or skier, then Copeton Dam Foreshores is only 20km past our driveway.

The view from the kitchenette looks out over landscaped gardens and the paddocks beyond. The accommodation offers a queen bed for two and space to relax both in and outdoors. The property is easily accessed with plenty of room to park multiple cars, a caravan, truck or horse float. On request, we can even organise a paddock for your horse for the night.

The cottage sits at the end of a gravel driveway, close to the main house but separated by a privacy fence. Guests will have access to the adjoining garden and lawn and are welcome to walk in the paddock that can be seen from the kitchen window.

Whilst our cottage is secluded, quiet and extremely relaxing, we also live on site. We work in town and have three dogs locked at the back of the premises. This is also a farm so don't be surprised if a sheep or cow pops their head over the fence to say hello!

It's a relaxed place with a relaxed approach to most things. All we ask is that you close any gates you open, and be prepared for a morning kookaburra or cockatoo.

The Old School House is spacious, clean and comfortable. The large yard is fully fenced, plenty of room for pets to run around though we do request they are secured at night time as we are a working farm. Please note BYO linen and towels. No need to nag the kids to get off devices, there's no TV or WiFi - how refreshing! Guest will enjoy the entire house and yard to themselves. They also have access to the nearby shed, useful for storing wet gear or fishing rods etc. Kayaks and a Yabby net are available for use. A custom made fire pit can be installed in windy weather and outdoor tables and chairs are provided to sit and relax under a shady tree.
Lots of local sites and attractions to explore around Inverell and nearby Glen Innes including fossicking opportunities in Frasers Creek and Nullamunna. Please note , access to Glenmore is via 2 unsealed roads which are fine for 2WD however this may change in wet weather where 4WD may be recommended.
