It might seem a tad strange to the reader but I hardly ever listen to music when I visit the Pool House. The stillness and smells of the soil make all man-made devices and sounds seem out of place; alien incursions unsettling my natural habitat. Before your eyes and at the edge of the pool unfolds a limitless horizon of barren Cycladic land, seawater, and bluish sky. All right, maybe I have a thing for the hyperbole, and I do play around with my smart phone while resting on the chaise longue just before dinner is served under the reed straw pergola.

The pictures describe the house much better than a three hundred words summary – especially if written by a non-native English speaker and a father of two – I guess, what I am trying to convey to the reader and potential guest is the ambiance, the feeling, the soothing energy which the house and its surroundings imbues to your body rhythm. If on a day we decide not to go to the nearby beach – a mere fifteen minutes hassle free drive – the kids will dive their hearts out in the pool while I, and my wife will catch up in our reading, work on our Med cooking, or simply vegetate in a linen hammock.

Two bedrooms, an attic with a double bed, and two separate bathrooms can accommodate up to seven guests. A fully equipped kitchen and the adjacent living area with its fireplace, make the unit suitable for an early Spring, or late Fall getaway. The two bedrooms open up to a stone tiled porch and a lush lower garden ideal for kids to roam around or for a parent to get some much needed sun.

I and my family, will be more than eager to host you at the Pool House and give you tips and recommendations on how to have a time full of joy and laughter on my ancestral land.

The island is absolutely charming and unspoilt (almost untouched by tourism compared to other Greek islands), quite barren in places, but with many wild herbs and flowers growing in profusion. Locals were very welcoming, and we enjoyed great meals in local restaurants. The surrounding houses alongside the Pool House are quite close together, but we were fortunate not to have any problematic noise disturbance from neighbouring properties. We managed to navigate the local country lanes (with quite typical Greek island road surfaces) on a 125cc motorbike but some beaches are easier accessed in a four wheel drive. We loved Kea, an exceptionally beautiful island, and The Pool House was for us (a middle aged couple who know what we want from a Greek island holiday) a totally idyllic retreat. "

Psili Ammos Beach House is part of a complex of six traditional stone built villas in a secluded part of Kea island offering the advantages of swimming in one of the most private and fine sandy beaches of the island. This small villa complex is part of a cluster of a number of villas which will be built on land touching the sea and at an elevation providing wonderful views of the open Aegean and Eastern Cyclades.

Small enough to require little upkeep yet large enough to cater to the needs of a six person family, the villas are a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of Athens reached in 30 minutes from Kea's port.

We were a group of family and friends, all adults, and the layout of the villa with two separate guesthouses offered the most relaxing and private spaces for everyone. The outdoor areas were our favourite, with a choice of dining spaces, but everywhere took in the breathtaking views. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was brilliantly equipped as was the Barbecue. It was a short drive to several lovely beaches and seaside tavernas , having been to a great many Greek Islands, the food in Kea was the best we have had in Greece. Chris was full of information about where to eat, how many minutes walk to each location, and even wind details for the best beach depending on the wind that day. Their house is: tasteful, warm, welcoming and friendly, equipped with everything you need, stylish with understatement, and full of pictures, music, books and great views of the surroundings. There are many beautiful homes. This one is beautiful and has soul. The sunsets there are just wow, better than any movie. Spectacular colors in a wide panorama and later the moon comes by and reflects in the night sea and many stars can be seen. What a great gig in the sky... ;-) Xyla Beach, about 1km down the road, is also beautiful. Not crowded, crystal clear water. A car is necessary and 4WD is definitely recommended, both for getting to the house and around the island. A 4x4 Panda is definitely sufficient, like the "little mountain goat" we rented in the port of Korrisia. Our conclusion: recommendable. Definitely! Jámas. Less well known among the Greek islands of the Aegean archipelago the island of Kea is a sleepy little gem of 3,000 inhabitants full of ancient ruins, chapels, coves, tavernas and quaint harbours. In Kea's crystal blue waters lies the wreck of the Britannic, sister ship of the Titanic. It's a preferred favourite destination for diving enthusiasts. Kea is also home to a variety of hiking trails, oak tree forests and secluded beaches. The capital, Ioulida is not on the coast - a precaution against marauding pirates in less lawful times. The lower level houses the master bedroom with its own dressing room adjacent to the en suite bathroom and a further 2 bedrooms and a bathroom are also located downstairs. All 3 lower level bedrooms have French windows allowing access to the lower garden area where a trampoline is located near by.

While they do stay on the property, they do not bother you and are just lovely people. They are also very helpful in recommending beaches and restaurants for their guests. If you decide to stay here, please note that you should consider renting a small SUV or 4-wheel drive as the road is not paved and very very bumpy/rocky. The first trip feels a bit treacherous but after you do it a couple of times it gets much easier to navigate to the point that by the end of the week, you won't even notice it anymore. This house is on the beach front in the area of Kampi, very close to Koundouros (2 to 3 minutes by car), which has 4 restaurants, 2 beach bars, water sports, a mini market and several sandy beaches. If guests do not want to go to Koundouros for a meal out, there is a taverna 80 meters from the house.

The "Stone Beach House" is ideal for those that just want to relax by the sea, soak up up the sun and enjoy the amazing sea and sunset views. The house has a large shaded veranda with various seating and dining areas as well as a BBQ. Maria was a helpful host and organised the logistics of getting to and from the mainland as well as ensuring we received the right local knowledge on what to buy where. The property is on the waterfront, with access to the sea, in the area of Akrtotiri - Otzia, 10 minutes from the port of the island and one and a half hours from the airport. The villa is on 8,000 sq meters plot of land with the sea surrounding it on two sides, in a very quite and private location, but with easy access to restaurants and shops. Surrounding the villa are large terraces, all offering fantastic sea views, as well as a very large terrace with a sea water swimming pool to the side of the villa, where one can relax on one of the sunbeds with a glass of wine while enjoying the sea view as well as the amazing sunsets. Near the swimming pool is a large shaded area with a seating and dining area, which leads directly into the villa.

The villa has been tastefully and elegantly decorated, giving one a feeling of peace and harmony. There is a large living room with high ceilings and wooden beams, a seating area with comfortable sofas, from where there is a view of the sea, a dining area and a large fully equipped open-plan kitchen. The living room leads on to the entrance hall, the guest w.c and the three bedrooms of the main house. The master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a fantastic sea view leads onto a private terrace. The second and third bedrooms, both with an en-suite bathrooms again lead on to a terrace with a sea view. - "We spent a week in August 2022 at this property and given we have rented in Europe many times this was the best spot so far. Our party included us, our two grown up kids and their girlfriends, and two other adult couples. The property is exactly as described in the pictures with lots of sprawling space, well designed bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and a fabulous kitchen. The outdoor space is spectacular with plenty of seating areas in the sun and shade. There are two dining areas outside and a lovely outdoor shower. The pool was very clean and in fact was cleaned mid week, there is a short pathway to a little cove leading to the sea where we were able to snorkel and swim in calm waters.. Keep an eye out for jelly fish though! Access to the villa is a bit tough and I would recommend an SUV but it’s only a ten minute drive into town which has many grocery stores, a tiny fish store and a butcher. We also were able to buy fish straight off the harbor from a fisherman. The harbor also has many lovely restaurants overlooking the water, and one spectacular one at the top of the mountain near the Lion of Kea. There is also a tiny little bakery in town where the baklava and breadsticks are not to be missed. We loved the restaurants with amazing seafood but what we also enjoyed was cooking fresh sea bream and prawns on the grill by the pool in the villa and eating while looking out at the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen. What made our stay extra special and perfect was our hostess Maria. All the way from receiving us at the ferry to all aspects of our stay, Maria was the most impeccable hostess. She did so many things to make our stay delightful, and I will try to list most of them. Maria was waiting for us at the ferry port when we got to kea, had worked with the car rental agency and her son personally accompanied us to the villa. (There are no addresses or road signs on the island). Every restaurant meal we had, maria helped make reservations, gave solid recommendations. She appears to know everyone on the island and uses her connections to make the stay pleasant for her guests. She was incredibly responsive, to us and to our son who got several recommendations and restaurant reservations throughout our stay. She was always available and saw us off at the end of our stay at the ferry port and arranged transportation back to Athens for all of our different travelers. Highly recommend this property and Maria Lemos. We will go back !,"

Ioulis is a willage with endless streets and steps creating a huge maze. To this house you walk up thrue the main streat past butcher, grocery, bakery and restaurants, where the main street ends the stairs take over, it's ONLY 40 steps up to Marios and Aretis hous and it is so worth it. The locals are very helpful. To go to Kea in September whas perfect, wonderful sunny wether and the sea is warm. We recommend to rent some type of transport, car or moped when the bus is restricted. There are so many places and beatches you can't get to by bus. The roads can be interesting, a specially the road to orkou beach. It's a lovely house, lovely island and well worth staying here, Marios and Areti is the perfect hoasts. "
