Located north of Leakey in Rancho Real, this cabin is ideal for a romantic getaway vacation. The cabin overlooks Bluff Creek which feeds into the west prong of the Frio River.
Enjoy listening to the water flowing from the private dam spillway. The deck is perfect just for hanging out, watching the fish and birds below, or entertaining and cooking on the grill.

The location is far enough away to be away from everything and close enough to Leakey to quickly get to town for your dining and activities! Upon arrival at the cabin, we found it secluded even though it’s next door to the host. You can tell she took great effort to provide privacy for her guests. Walking into the cabin we found a personal note and a bottle of wine which was such a nice touch! Chris provided drinking water and gave us a run down of the cabin and it’s amenities. If you’re looking to relax, this cabin is quiet except for the sound of running water from the creek below the bluff. We saw deer, turkeys, foxes and tons of birds including Cardinals everywhere and hummingbirds who came right up to the palapa while we lounged around and watched! Chris had great recommendations for the local eateries and activities and check in on us several times during our stay! Great experience, would definitely stay again!"

Our house has been in business since the spring of 2010 with five star ratings! We are a very secluded house tucked away in the hill country ON the West fork of the Frio River. During the recent 2022 summer drought, our river never went dry at property or surrounding area. Thankful for the fresh springs feeding our river, which keeps the river clean & flowing down to our property! We are North of Leakey in a private area with no neighbors, on approximately 5.5 acres. The Frio River gets its name for its cool and consistent flow and is a popular summertime destination for those wishing to enjoy the beauty of the Frio Canyon and Texas Hill Country or a peaceful, fall getaway with a campfire! You will feel like one with nature, yet you are only a short drive away from the growing town of Leakey, Garner State Park, Concan and Lost Maples. It's a great spot for a retreat or just a weekend. Come relax with your family and friends! Our house is about 200 yards from the river but you can drive down to our PRIVATE RIVER ENTRANCE and park there, to unload your things.

We found most of our time was spent at the deeper area so the kids could swim. There was even a nice rock ledge in that area for them to jump off of. Made for a fun day on the river. Plenty of shade found too in that spot that canopies weren’t needed. (Just chairs) The drive to this spot was only a minute or two up the road. Not far and easy to access. We spent most of our time outside at the house while we grilled dinners and just hung out enjoying the peace and quiet under the trees. And quiet it is…if you’re looking for a secluded river vacation home, this is it! Might even catch a falling star or two & a couple deer roaming as well, which was fun to see. A great home on a quiet & peaceful property. Will definitely be back again to stay."

The 337 River House is a great getaway on a 1.7 acre lot on the Frio River in the town of Leakey, Texas. The main house and a bunkhouse are set way back from the road, and behind the houses, there is a tall swing set among shade trees, a gated volleyball pool, and a large covered pavilion near the steps that lead down the riverbank to the river. Enjoy the large smoker grill, fire pit, and horseshoes near the private river entrance and no across the river neighbors!

*Guests are expected to leave the property as they found it. Additional costs for damage, excessive cleaning, or trash pickup will be charged to guests after departure.

*Both houses on the property are NON-SMOKING. If outside, please be mindful of your butts and ashes, keep them off the ground and dispose of all in metal trashcans.
*No pets allowed.
*No glass containers allowed near the river or in the river, or in the pool area. Do not take glass containers outside of the house area at the front of the property.
* The minimum age for the person making the booking is 25 years
* Guests under the age of 25 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 25 at all times. No high school or college aged guests permitted without their parents.
* No fires permitted outside the designated fire ring and BBQ pit. Absolutely no fires on the riverbank or any other location on the property. Observe Burn Bans.
* No BB guns, pellet guns, bow and arrows, slingshots, firearms or weapons allowed.
* ATV’s, UTV’s, golf carts, go-karts or mini-bikes are not allowed
* Any illegal activity such as drug use and underage drinking is not permitted
* Please observe quiet time from 10PM to 7AM. Please keep music at a reasonable volume at all times. Our neighbors live here, please be respectful of them.
* Fireworks, water balloons, piñatas, silly string, confetti eggs, glitter, or any other type of celebratory litter are not allowed due both to the sensitive nature of this clean river and the amount of time it takes to clean up. Please do not leave litter on the ground at any time.
* Take care not to trespass on the adjacent property or any other property on the river.
* Swim and use our property at your own risk. No lifeguard is on duty. Please take care and be aware and alert as to the use of this property by everyone in your group.
* Use of bunk beds in the bunkhouse is at your own risk. Please be careful
getting on and off of bunk beds and especially while on top bunk.
* The river entrance does have stairs with a hand rail leading down the steep embankment, but the bottom step is a large one. Also, the river bottom is VERY slippery. Please use caution. Water shoes are recommended.
* Guests are expected to leave the house and grounds in essentially the same condition as they found them. Please wash dishes, empty all trash cans and take bagged trash to the dumpster at the front of the property. Clean up big spills or messes.
* Vehicles may park anywhere in front of the houses in gravel area and on or beside the driveway. No parking in the field fronting 337, approximately the front ½ acre
* Absolutely no vehicles allowed behind the house.
* Please DO NOT cut or carve on any trees or vegetation. You may gather kindling from the ground anywhere on our property, but do not cut or break branches from the trees or shrubs. There is firewood available multiple places in Leakey.
* Be sure to return keys to the lock box and lock it upon departure. Lost keys are $5 each.

Downstairs has a new leather queen size sleeper with a comfortable blow up mattress.. The entire house has lots of unique features. You have to see it to believe it. Please note, this property is not suitable for small children.

The house opens up to a huge outside deck overlooking the spring fed lake. There are several seating areas for the utmost in outdoor living. From the deck, walk down a few stairs to a dock on a crystal clear spring fed private lake. Enjoy paddle boating and fishing. This lake always has cool crystal clear water. The water depth is at least 23' deep!

On the side of the house is a large rock patio boasting a great fire pit. Cool outdoor kitchen area with large grill , smoker pit, charcoal grill and sink. There is also an outdoor shower overlooking the lake.
On the other side of the house, is a vegetable garden...all organic.

Things to do include hiking, swimming, paddle boating, fishing, and much more. Only 15 minutes from the town of Leakey, where there are many restaurants, shopping for antiques or souvenirs. Of course there is tubing on the Frio too, if we get some rain!

Property also has a pool for those who want to relax and lounge with a large deck for outside enjoyment.
Will sleep 14 comfortably in 5 queen beds, 4 upstairs, also upstairs one twin, as well as a sofa sleeper and twin in the living area with linens and towels supplied. Solomon's Den offers a romantic escape in the Lost Maples Region - the heart of the Texas Hill Country. It is designed for couples who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and find time to reconnect and relax. Inside the cabin you will find a wood burning fireplace as well as central air/heat, living area, king size bed with a unique headboard made from reclaimed wood from the property, kitchenette, dining table and double whirlpool bathtub.

The "bedroom" is located up on a two step platform area which overlooks the living area and fireplace. A few feet to the right of the bed, the double whirlpool bathtub is sunken into the floor (no shower). The kitchenette offers a full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans and dishes. Coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, trash bags, paper towels and dish soap are provided.

We do provide linens and towels. The towels are for bathing only and should not be taken off of the property or used outside.

Solomon's Den, and four other cabins are located on 6 acres between Vanderpool and Leakey on RR 337, one of Texas' most scenic highways. This area is known for it's two lane country roads that meander between steep sided canyons. It has been referred to as the "Swiss Alps of Texas" and is popular with motorcyclists and bicyclists. The cabin is located on a county maintained road, The Lower Sabinal River Road, right off of 337. It is a perfect road for taking a leisurely walk and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and possible wildlife viewing.

A complimentary bottle of wine is included and guest robes are provided for use during your stay.

There is a camp fire ring available that can be used when the area is not under a county burn ban. Firewood for the outdoor fire pit can be purchased from the Lost Maples Country Store, 4 miles up the road. Also available on the grounds is a BBQ grill (bring your own charcoal), picnic table, outdoor chairs and a hammock.

Solomon's Den is conveniently located to Lost Maples State Natural Area, Garner State Park, the Frio River, as well as the cities of Vanderpool, Utopia, Leakey, Bandera and Kerrville.

Lost Maples State Natural Area is about 7 miles from the cabin. Garner State Park is about 18 miles, while Leakey is about 10 miles. There are many places to begin a floating trip along the Frio River, all of which would be within 45 miles of the cabin, some closer than others. Utopia is a small town where you will find a few shops, restaurants and a 9 hole golf course. The movie, "Seven Days in Utopia" was filmed there. It is about 15 miles from the cabin.

Bandera is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World and offers various rodeos and "cowboy activities" throughout the year, as well as shopping, restaurants and bars. It is about 45 miles from the cabin.

Kerrville is a little over 45 miles from the cabin and is the nearest city where you will find an HEB, Wal-Mart, Specs etc.

The cabin is located on the second story of a two story building, although it is still very private as the area below is not a rental space and only used for storage. Being on the second story affords excellent views of the mountains.

Once you make a reservation you will be provided with specific directions, check-in instructions and a list of things to do in the area. This Frio River Bank Log Cabin has 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths and sleeps up to 12 guests. The master bedroom has a king size bed and flat screen TV, the other corner bedroom has a queen bed and a bunk bed with a flat screen TV, the third bedroom has three single beds and the fourth bedroom has a queen and a single. The only thing missing was a colander, but we made do. We never turned on the TV, so can’t report on it. No hairdryer although listed as an amenity. The outdoor space was great with both a propane and wood grill, all the grilling utensils needed, and a fire pit complete with stainless sticks for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs. Couldn’t ask for a better location for riding the “Three Sisters” and hiking in Lost Maples Natural Area. Great stay overall!"

And when we initially arrived, we were a little wary. But it was totally fine because the setup allowed for us to determine how much we wanted to interact with the other guests without feeling/seeming antisocial, and we were all very friendly with each other."

The open floor plan accommodates up to 4 people and offers a king size bed in an alcove created by bunk beds that are built into the wall. If your group is more than four people ask us about other cabins that might be available. Inside the Red Rooster House you will also find a fully equipped kitchenette with a full size stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker and coffee/tea service. Central air/heat will ensure that you are comfortable no matter what the temperature is outside, and a wood burning fireplace will provide a cozy, romantic atmosphere in the cooler months. A television with a DVD player and a DVD library is provided although there is no television reception. The Lost Maples Region offers plenty of opportunity for bird watching with over 200 species being counted at nearby Lost Maples State Natural Area. The dark skies are perfect for star gazing and you'll experience firsthand why they say the stars at night are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas! Reconnect with what is important, yet still be in close proximity to area activities such as hiking, river tubing, kayaking, horseback riding, wine tastings and local cuisine.
