We stayed in cabin 6 and the A/C just wasn't cutting it. It would run all through the day but only really got cold for an hour in the morning. The separate rooms were nice and beds were comfy. The appeal here is the pool. To note the pool is covered for majority of the day by a few large trees which means you swim in the shade. Although sme chairs and parts of the deck were in need of some repairs the kids were able to enjoy the water. You share it with whomever else is there which could be a good or bad thing depending on how many people are staying. You can see the water from the back of the property, but it is just a marina. You cannot touch the lake. There is another small park down past the cottages that you can get onto a beach and touch water. There are not many places to hang beach clothes to dry other than outside over a picnic table. There is one hook in bathroom and a shower bar. Location was good. Few minutes from the state park and Kelley's Island Ferry. A 20ish minute drive to Put-In-Bays ferry. Again it was just okay. "

We have loved Lakeside for 40 years and we are happy to offer our place for you to use responsibly. The price listed is for up to six people. For eight people and an up charge, the Great Room can be opened up where there are two twin beds. Also in the Great Room there are 2 reclining sofas, a fieldstone fireplace with gas logs, and a large screen TV. Price for the added Great Room is $1660 Weekly. (The pictures showing the fireplace, twin beds and red sofas are shown here but, again, that room is for extra rental, not basic rental.)

Without the Great Room there are three bedrooms, two with queen size beds and one with a full size bed. The Master BR has an en suite and there is an additional bath that serves the other two bedrooms. There are room air conditioners that are able to manage the square footage. There is a relaxing sun room, a dining area, well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer and gas grill.

Rock of Ages has been sitting on the shores of Lake Erie since 1861. It is built of native, local limestone, and is listed on the National Historic Register. There simply is not another comparable home on Lake Erie. It is wonderfully unique and fun to explore. It is very solid (like a 'Rock') and in great shape, but we have renovated the first floor, creating a Great Room and state of the art kitchen with everything needed to cook for and dine 30+ guests. We accept bookings year round. In the summer we book "weeks" Mon-Sun. We do not accept less than this 6 night "week" in the summer. From Labor Day to Memorial Day we accept less than 6 nights.

Rock of Ages overlooks the Lake Erie islands and is in the quaint village of Marblehead and is only a hop, skip, and a jump from the east gate of Lakeside (The Chautauqua of Lake Erie) in one direction and the historic Marblehead lighthouse in the other. The lighthouse is a spot of natural beauty and the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes.

We have traveled around the world and this is our favorite place on earth! Friendly, down-home people, great entertainment (at Lakeside and the islands), wonderful local history, great boating and fishing, Cedar Point, and the waves and the winds of Lake Erie, are constantly there. What a place! From Rock of Ages's tower room is one of the best views of Lake Erie in the area. Come and see!

Rock of Ages has a 120-foot spacious lakefront patio and three other patios with plenty of furniture for sunbathing, eating and gazing at the lake and watching the boats and ferry to Kelley's island. Of course, you can swim off the flat glacial rocks right in front of the house. A large sandy beach is a short drive away. We still have the original limestone fossil walkways from when 'The Rock' was first built. There is a large hot tub overlooking the lake.

We have plenty of room for the whole family (8000 sq. ft.) and lots of bed and bath options. There is a first-floor suite with a king bed and its' own bath for those who do not do stairs. On the second floor each of the five bedrooms has a king-size bed and a private bath. The third floor is great for kids. Six bedrooms surround a large common area with a large-screen TV.

There is one king bed, one queen bed, 5 full-size beds, 3 twins and 4 rollaways up there. The third floor bedrooms share a full size bath and two half baths. You have already heard about the view from the tower room! It has a kingsize bed, its' own bath, and a roof-top patio. Folks will fight over who gets to sleep there!

On the first floor as well as the kitchen and dining/great room, there is a living room with TV. The first floor also has two half baths. The lower level - not really a basement (it was the old summer kitchen) is a large game room area with a pool table, ping pong table, TV, half bath, and tables and chairs. There is a backyard patio with two large grills. Rock of Ages has a large parking area to accommodate big groups.

Although it is wonderful in the summer with the windows open and the lake breezes, we do have air conditioning. Rock of Ages can be used year round and the lake in all its glory in the winter with ice and snow is something else!! It is a great place for business or church groups or special interest retreats and seminars, for example birders or artists.

Our rates are for the entire property, not per person as in an inn or bed and breakfast. NOV- APRIL (With the exception of the holidays). I offer up to half off the regular rate, depending on the size of the group. Please send an inquiry for more details and a quote. This is a brand new cottage, 2022. It is ready for year round rentals. Everything in the cottage is brand new.
This cottage has central heat and a/c for year round comfort.
There are three bedrooms. One is on the first floor. The additional two are upstairs. They are large bedrooms.
There are 3.5 bathrooms. One and and a half on the first floor. Two full bathrooms on the second floor.
Appliances we have them all; kitchen disposal, drawer dishwashers, amazing fridge / freezer with interior drinking water dispenser, front loading washer and dryer, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, dual fuel stove/oven, drawer microwave, beverage fridge and a tankless hot water system. There is a Weber circular charcoal grill. You need to bring your own charcoal and matches. Did I mention large 4k tv over the fireplace. The fireplace is for looking at only. It is not to be used. This cottage is built top notch. The appliances are Bosch brand. Everything is brand new, including the golf cart.

The kitchen table seats 8 and the kitchen island seats 5. There are stools to be used around the dining table corners to seat another four people for dining and / or games, 12 people.

Outside on the front porch there is a couch with two chairs and ottomans. There are also three Adirondack chairs.

Lakeside is celebrating its 150th anniversary - summer 2023.

Lakeside Chautauqua is an amazing community. There is daily programming so be sure to check out the Lakeside Ohio web site. Lakeside helps to allow you to experience a slower time. The community includes Lake Erie pier, downtown shopping, restaurants, ice cream shops, movie theater, parks, splash pad, pool, wellness center, playgrounds, basketball, sand volleyball, walking trails, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, mini golf, art classes, worship, exhibits, and classes. Don't forget to walk along Ohio's Most Beautiful Mile, along the shores of Lake Erie.

Outside the gates there is a lot to do in the surrounding communities; Cedar Point, wineries, animal safari, waterparks, island hopping, and restaurants galore.

At no additional cost, an electric four person golf cart is included for use during the week. The golf cart is available end of May until the middle of October. You have to have a valid drivers license to operate the golf cart. You must be 21 years old to operate the golf cart. The golf cart is only to be used inside the gates/ fences of Lakeside. The golf cart is for four people. Each night the golf cart needs to be in the driveway charging, it is battery operated.

The internet is available year round. There is no cable tv. There is high speed WiFi throughout the cottage.
The tvs are smart tvs - if you have a subscription to a service that will work on the tv.

Did I mention there is also a half bath on the first floor for guests ?

The sheets are Molecule which is a performance sheet brand. They are comfortable and very breathable for any time of year.

Bedroom First Floor:
First floor primary bedroom: King bed with a bunk bed, twin over twin. This bedroom has an en-suite, with an amazing shower.

Bedrooms Upstairs:
Front Bedroom : King bed and twin bunk beds and a day bed. The daybed can be used as a bed or as a couch to get away. This bedroom has an en-suite, with an amazing shower with a rain shower head and a hand-held.
Rear Bedroom: This is a bunk room. Two sets of twin bunk beds. Third bunk is a twin over a queen. There is extra headroom for the queen bed under the twin. The bathroom is off the hall. It has a tub/ shower combo.

There are enough beds to sleep 16 - which gives you options for sleeping arrangements.

Linens are provided. As a convenience, all beds are premade with sheets prior to your arrival.
The sheets are being washed on the hottest cycle. Also, Lysol Detergent sanitizer is being added.
All sheets & towels will be cleaned upon departure by the cleaners. Please put all used towels and used bed sheets in the laundry room. You need to take the sheets off of the beds used and place into the laundry room.

There are some pool/beach towels.

This new cottage is top notch !!

Upon departure, guests must clean and put away all kitchenware.
Dishwasher detergent is under the sink.

There is a large grass space up on 6th street next to the wellness center. A great space to play in the yard. There are yard activities in the white storage chest along the left side of the cottage.

You must bring your own charcoal and matches.

Cancellation Policy:
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before the arrival date. You must contact the owner directly to talk about a cancellation. If I can re-rent the cottage I will return your money minus Vrbo.com fees. I don’t have control of that.

We are close to Cedar Point, Port Clinton, Catawba Island, East Harbor State Park, the Marblehead Lighthouse and historic Johnson Island. The Kelley’s Island ferry is a 10-minute walk and the Put-in-Bay and Jet Express ferries are a short drive away. We are minutes away from numerous beaches, marinas, public boat and fishing accesses and fish cleaning stations. It is hard to count all of the restaurants, ice cream shops, wineries and breweries the peninsula has to offer! Many offer indoor and outdoor dining and local entertainment daily. Our cottage has a fully outfitted kitchen, living room with a comfortable fold-out queen-sized sofa, two private bedrooms featuring a queen-sized bed and a full-sized bed, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. As long-time vacation home renters, we always wished that we didn’t need to buy a bottle of ketchup to have fries one time, or a bottle of shampoo to wash our hair twice. So, we supply all of the staples, spices, condiments, and coffee that you will need, as well as toiletries for your convenience. In addition to your private deck, you are welcome to use our outside area with a fire-pit, shaded lounge area with comfortable seating and a sunny area with chaise lounges. You can cook out using our gas grill or charcoal grill. We are happy to provide you with lawn games, beach chairs, a picnic basket and beach towels for your days in the sun. For quieter days, our cottage is stocked with games, books and tvs for family fun. We even have an outdoor projector and screen if you want to do a movie night with the fireflies! It includes a fully equipped kitchen (full size fridge, oven, and stove, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, all necessary utensils, dishes, pots and pans, ect...). Outside there is a gas grill, fire ring, wooden deck with table and chairs, with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. The cottage is approximately 150 yards from the dock where you can catch bass, bluegill, catfish, perch, and crappie or just sit back and watch the day float by and catch beautiful sunsets. The rental includes a free dock space that can accommodate up to a 22 ft boat.

The space
We may be new to Airbnb but we are not new to providing vacation rentals for travelers. We have 5 rentals on this property and our family has been renting here at Rock Harbor Cottages since the 1960's. We have 100's of great reviews just none on here, so please give us a chance. Along with rentals we offer fishing (walleye, perch, smallmouth bass) and pleasure charters aboard our 28 foot boat that leaves right from the property. We invite you to come and 'get-away' for a week (or two) at this cozy home located on a 1/2 acre of lakefront property and situated at the end of a quiet residential street. Our summer cottage is family owned and operated and we believe in greeting all of our guests and making you feel right at home.

'Little House on the Lake' is the perfect retreat for a small family or adults vacationing together. A beautiful view of Lake Erie can be seen just out the front door and the large open yard is perfect for various summertime activities. Docks are also available to rent for our boat owning guests. They are located within walking distance from the home as well as a free public boat ramp less than 2 minutes away. Not a boat owner? Don't worry, we are also conveniently located between the many boat ferries if you choose others to navigate the sea for you.

A better location for summertime fun cannot be found! Our 'Little House on the Lake' is only a few miles from the famous Marblehead Lighthouse. We are also close to area beaches, restaurants and 'Monsoon Lagoon' the most cost effective outdoor waterpark around. It takes approximately 30 minutes for our guests to get to Cedar Point & Soak City by car and the Erie Islands; Kelley's, Middle Bass, South Bass (Put-in-Bay) and Pelee by boat.

If you need a break from the Lake, why not go shopping? Local businesses offer some other great catches as well. We are 5 minutes from the quaint downtown city of Marblehead which features numerous little specialty shoppes. Shop while you walk along side a beautiful view of the Lake. The quiet and relaxing Lakeside community is also within an arm's reach of our place. Hours can be spent enjoying the countless activities going on inside their gates.

Fishermen: check out the 'Western Basin' known for the most productive fishing on the Great Lakes. Walleye, Perch and Bass can be caught in large numbers throughout the year. Many of our guests have caught their fill of fish without even leaving the front yard! Sunbathers or swimmers: if you are brave, jump into the water & sandy area right in the front yard or visit the nearby beach if you prefer for plenty of fun in the sun.

Activity seeking visitors: play a game of volleyball or golf, hike, run, boat or just site see and take in the many beautiful sights of this region. Tastetesting folks: fill your bellies with a different kind of food every night - Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, vegetarian or visit the steak houses, sports bars, fish and chips spots, wineries, mom and pops homemade food joints or even the beloved chili dog and ice cream quick stop. For the rest of you: just kick back, relax and enjoy a good book by the water's edge.

We must note - if you are looking for fancy, we are not the place for you. If, however, you want something clean, quiet, cozy and relaxing... we are just that. We also realize that during hard economic times most folks do not have money to throw around. Instead of charging some outrageous price for the week like many others do, we offer our home at a very reasonable rate. We encourage you to go ahead and compare... we bet you will not find another house on the water with so much to do at such a low price. This is why we believe many of our guests return again and again.

Please note that while our cottage is on Lakeside Chautauqua property, it just outside the fence. This allows you to easily visit Lakeside to take advantage of all of the amenities and programming when you desire, but not have to pay the seasonal gate fees for the times you are not entering. We are close to Cedar Point, Port Clinton, Catawba Island, East Harbor State Park, the Marblehead Lighthouse and historic Johnson Island. The Kelley’s Island ferry is a 10-minute walk and the Put-in-Bay and Jet Express ferries are a short drive away. We are minutes away from numerous beaches, marinas, fishing charters, public boat and fishing accesses and fish cleaning stations. It is hard to count all of the restaurants, ice cream shops, wineries and breweries the peninsula has to offer! Many offer indoor and outdoor dining and local entertainment daily. When you add myriad of shopping opportunities from fine art to souvenirs, you will find something for everyone in your group!

We want you to feel at home during your stay. Our cottage has a fully outfitted kitchen, dining room, living room with a comfortable fold-out queen-sized sofa, and a twin-sized fold-out chair, sunroom, bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and large bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a washer and dryer for your needs. We furnish you with all of the staples, spices, condiments, and coffee that you will need, as well as linens and toiletries for your convenience. The outside area offers a fire-pit, shaded lounge area with comfortable seating, a sunny area with chaise loungers. We have a gas grill and charcoal grill available for your use. We are happy to provide you with lawn games, beach chairs, a picnic basket and beach towels for your days in the sun. For quieter days, our cottage is stocked with games, books and tvs for family fun. We even have an outdoor projector and screen if you want to do a movie night with the fireflies! There are two parking spots for your convenience and a bike rack.

The host was accommodating when we needed a late check out, and even provided some refreshments and a little gift after they found out it was for my wedding. There is laundry on site, plenty of sheets, towels, and blankets, and the bathroom is massive. The bar space outside is nice, even though we couldn't use it much since we rented in October. I'd highly recommend this property and any other place that this owner has. You will not be disappointed."

I was thrilled when I found this bed-and-breakfast and I can’t say enough good things about it. The room was exactly as described and was wonderful. Fully Recommend! The bed was heavenly, room was so spacious! We were glad that we brought a heap filter as the noise from the road was noticeable but with the hepa filter we slept like babies! As this was our first weekend away in over a year, we slept through breakfast 😉! We were so pleasantly surprised to have been offered a beautiful fruit and yogurt tray, delivered right to our door! Finally made it down to breakfast on checkout day and loved the “dippy eggs” and toast. Perfect!
