The property is like none other, surrounded by thousands of acres of farmland. It’s quiet, relaxing and one gets a sense of bring “away from it all” and yet there are miles of walking and biking trails along the ocean as well as through the farming areas. There is a wonderful breakfast buffet from 0830-1200 hours. The ever present hotel manager, Luis and his able assistant, Tatiana were wonderful to us during our check in and throughout our stay. Our waiter, Diogo, at dinner each night was fantastic. And of course the place would not function without the resident donkey named Violeta who, along with her sheep and goat friends, provided endless entertainment. If travel plans bring you anywhere near Zambujeira Do Mar, you will not regret choosing Herdade Do Touril to relax and enjoy all it has to offer."

The hotel is surrounded by colorful sand dunes and it is just a short walk to a crescent shaped beach with amazingly striped and patterned smooth rocks. From that beach it is just another short walk to a large beach on the river. We liked Duna Parque so much that we plan to spend a week there when we come back to Portugal in 2017.. "

There was no restaurant, once breakfast was finished you couldn’t even get a drink or ice cream until after 2pm - the drinks that were on offer were very limited, coke, sparkling water with lemon or water & on one day there was only a water the same for the ice cream, only 3 choice. You could have a toasted sandwich at lunch but choices were limited and only after 2pm. The pool and bbq needed a lot of work.The bbq had a giant hole in the base so the coals fell through, no Umbrellas for shade & the beds where old and tatty, tiles missing and no life saves rings.The outside shower was dirty. The room was basic with 3 beds in one room and a couch but it was all we needed to enjoy this unique property with peacock males dancing and showing their plumage and the mothers exhibiting their babies. It is beautiful and you can make your own orange juice! This was our favorite experience out of 9 lodgings on this trip. You have to check in about 15 minutes away. He went above and beyond with his suggestions not just for my stay at Villa Eira but also for subsequent parts of my trip. The food he recommended was so good and he was the captain of a really generous and lovely breakfast. Truly a great stay. "

- "Not what I was expecting for the price. First, I couldn’t find the hotel as there’s no sign. Google couldn’t find it. It turns out to be above a Pasteleria. Your cashier at the Pasteleria checks you in😂😂. Not close to beach at all and choice of eateries are a bit limited." - "We can not recommend this place where there were a lot af noise through the night from some kind of machine in the building. Furthermore it was rather hard to find - and there was no reception and no staff after 7 pm."
