This cozy space is across the driveway from our house. Has a wood stove in the living room and a nice open floor plan with two bedrooms and one bath makes for a nice time with family or friends. We are close to several fun activities such as skiing and sledding at 7 oaks, hiking at the ledges state park, canoeing and tubing down the river, train rides in town or go to the race track just a mile away.

Cabin sits on almost 2 acres right across from the Des Moines river , boat ramp just 1/4 mile away . Home has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing get away in the woods . Cabin is log and knotty pine inside . This cabin was built by my father in 2003 as his retirement home . We welcome well trained dogs , there is no fenced yard and lots of timber all around so we recommend keeping on leash as there are lots of deer crossing thru property daily . Boone is just a 10 min drive , Ogden 15 min . Don Williams recreation is also just 5 min drive . Come relax , rewind and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the country .

The Historic Goeppinger Building has been around since 1915. Built by the Goeppinger family to house the offices of their farming and saddlery businesses, they provided offices for doctors, lawyers, realtors, dentists and teachers on first and second floors over the years. The third floor was once a beautiful lodge with a dance floor, kitchen, bathrooms, a smoking room for the men and a cloakroom for the women. It was converted to six upscale apartments in 1935. The apartments were leased out as rentals to private tenants from 1935 to 2019. We bought the building in 2007 and continued to operate the building as it had been operated since 1935. In 2019, we decided to restore the apartments and signed with VRBO as hosts. It is our hope to someday become a boutique hotel.

The original marble staircase leads to the lobby area on 2nd floor. Several office suites are occupied on this floor, as well as, the home of the Resident Manager. Another flight of stairs completes the journey to the third floor where you will find your relaxing apartment-suite complete with charming mid-century decor. The suite has a sleeping area with a queen size bed, a relaxation area, a dressing room with a wardrobe, a full bathroom with shower and tub and a fully furnished kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, coffee pot, toaster and of course a stove and refrigerator. Dishes, pots and pans and utensils are all provided so guests can prepare their own meals and eat "in". Fortunately, there is a grocery store just one block East of the building.

This old building is built like a fortress with 13" of concrete between the basement and the first floor, the first and second floors and the second and third floors. The brick walls are at least 18" thick. The second floor is somewhat of a showplace with lots or original wood, terrazzo floors and Florentine art glass windows in the doors. Don't be afraid to turn on some lights and go exploring while you are here and feel free to ask us if you can view whichever suites are unoccupied. We love showing off the restorations we have done over the years.

For instance, you may walk on squeaky old hardwood floors, the radiators may let you know when they are warming up your suite and, it may take some time for the hot water to climb up to third floor. The building is across the street from the UP railroad so you may be lulled to sleep by the sound of trains passing through town during the night. Most guest comment that they enjoy the sounds of the trains but we do have a "WHITE NOISE" machine for guest use if you don't find the sounds of trains pleasant.

This, the Victorian Suite, is one of our more luxurious suites in Historic Goeppinger Building located in Boone, IA. It is the perfect setting for honeymooners, anniversaries or just a special weekend retreat. The suite has a queen sized canopy bed made up with fine linens. Our guests comment that the bed was the most comfortable bed they ever slept on. The mattress is the kind that allows two people to sleep comfortably but when one sleeper moves during the night, the other isn’t supposed to feel the movement. Apparently it works!

A dressing room with a desk/make up table is next to a full bath with a sink, stool and a tub and shower combination. The shower has a waterfall head. Guests comment on our big white organic towels and mention that they are so fluffy.

The spacious kitchen has the original cabinets from 1935 and the original inlaid linoleum. It is fully equipped with a full sized stove, full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee pot.dishes. The kitchen has cookware, an assortment of dinnerware, from casual to bone china, flatware utensils and a supply of coffee. There is a cute little table for two for romantic dinners.

Our building is old, circa 1915, and it is lovingly restored. Antiques and historic information are displayed in the building with a Wall of Fame, giving credence to the original owners of the building. Located right in our building is Kelly's Salon 908, a men's vintage clothing store, the Haberdashery, and Belluci's Pizza House. Kelly has been in our building for 20 years, The Haberdashery for 7 years and Belluci's Pizza House has called our building home since 1965.

Boone has something for everyone. Just down the street are the Boone Theater, several antique stores, a variety of restaurants, a women's clothing store, some consignment shops, the bakery and a local brewery. There is a grocery store one block away.

A most enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon in downtown Boone is a visit to the wonderful history museum on Story Street. It is filled with interesting relics from the past.

If you enjoy downhill skiing, snow tubing and snowboarding in the winter, Seven Oaks is just a couple of miles southwest of town. They also offer summer recreation including canoeing, kayaking and river tubing.

We partner with Rail Explorers, an exciting way to view the Des Moines River Valley. If you tell them you are staying with us, you will receive a complementary Rail Explorer's travel mug.

Other area attractions are the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad and their fabulous dinner train, hiking at Ledges State Park just South of Boone or going to a race at Boone Speedway, You can check out Mamie Doud Eisenhower's Birthplace, another museum near our building, There is also a lot of rich history in Boone County and there are endless possibilities.

Ames is just 12 miles away so if you are planning to attend an ISU game or visit your children in college and want a reasonable place to stay, join us for the weekend.

Enter this historic 115 year old building in downtown and make your way through the semi-secured door to the elevator and ride it to the top of the building. This unit is a good sized one bedroom apartment with upgraded finishes, furnishings and a view of the entire downtown area.

While you can park on the street in front of our building, overnight parking on downtown streets is prohibited by the city. There are two free, well-lit municipal lots each about a block from our building.

The Historic Goeppinger Building has been around since 1915. Built by the Goeppinger family to house the offices of their farming and saddlery businesses, they provided offices through the years for doctors, lawyers, realtors, dentists and teachers on first and second floors. The third floor, once a beautiful lodge with a dance floor, kitchen, bathrooms, a smoking room for the men and a cloakroom for the women, was converted to six upscale apartments in 1935. The apartments were leased out as rentals to private tenants from 1935 to 2019. We bought the building in 2007 and continued to operate the building as it had been operated since 1935. In 2019, we decided to restore the apartments and signed with VRBO as short term and long term hosts. It is our hope to someday become a boutique hotel.

The original marble staircase leads to the lobby area on 2nd floor. Several office suites are occupied on this floor and it is also the home of our Resident Manager. Another flight of stairs completes the journey to the third floor where you will find your charming apartment suite complete with RETRO decor. On display are televisions from the late 1950's complete with antenna's, old radios, an old Bell telephone, an old manual typewriter, a chrome kitchen table and lots of coca cola memorabilia.
The suite has a sleeping area, a relaxation area, a dressing room, a full bathroom with shower and tub and a fully furnished kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, coffee pot, toaster and of course a stove and refrigerator. Dishes, pots and pans and utensils are all provided so guests can prepare their own meals and eat "in". Fortunately, there is a grocery store just one block East of the building.

The building and it is built like a fortress with 13" of concrete between the basement and the first floor, the first and second floors and the second and third floor. The brick walls are at least 18" thick. The second floor is somewhat of a showplace with lots or original wood, terrazzo floors and Florentine art glass windows. Don't be afraid to turn on some lights and go exploring while you are here and feel free to ask us if you can view whichever suites are unoccupied. We love showing off the restorations we have done over the years.

Yes, this is an amazing old building but it does not come without its quirks, due to its age. We think these quirks just add to the charm of the building. For instance, you may walk on squeaky old hardwood floors, the radiators may let you know when they are warming up your suite and, it may take some time for hot water to climb up to third floor. The building is across the street from the UP railroad so you may be lulled to sleep by the sound of trains passing through town during the night. Most guest comment that they enjoy the sounds of the trains but we do have a "WHITE NOISE" machine for guest use who don't find the sounds of trains pleasant.

Recently restored, the Rock and Roll Suite is filled with rock and roll memorabilia. Sleep like a rock star in a luxury king bed with fine linens. Cook up a "rockin" meal in a kitchen with microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator, stove, cookware, dishes, flatware and utensils. The BEATLES dining area also provides a nice sized work area. A relaxation area includes a VIZEO smart TV with and comfortable seating. Sing in the shower in the three-piece bluetooth equipped bathroom with dressing room.

About this space
Kick back and relax in our cozy cabin surrounded by the beautiful Iowa landscape of grain fields and timberland. Look for deer passing through or listen for the howl of a coyote at night. Enjoy the evening sunsets on the patio at end of day.
This makes for a great weekend getaway located just 7 minutes from the High Trestle Bike Trail. Enjoy the scenic hiking trails at the Ledges State Park 10 miles away. Or take in events at Iowa State University which is only a 30 minute drive.
The space
This is a cozy one room cabin with a log wall separating the kitchenette from the sleeping area. For now we are TV free but there is plenty of sightseeing, activities to take in or just enjoy the peace and quiet.
The cabin was built on the property of a Century Farm and was used for family and friends that came to visit prior to becoming an listing.
Guest access
There is a patio with a fire pit that guest are welcome to use. The gravel roads that surround the property are excellent places for a walk. Feel free to have your meals on the picnic table surrounded by a babbling creek that was constructed into the landscape.
Other things to note
Located a mile off of the main pavement, you’ll drive a short distance on a country gravel road.

In the heart of downtown Boone and close to Ames there is a lot to do in this little town. You will absolutely love the apartment. It is cozy - safe and beautiful. You can spend your time visiting Ledges State Park - going to the movies three doors away - riding on the Rail Explorers, or going to a Cyclone game in Ames.

There are two bedrooms - both have TV's and your own control of the heat or AC. Living room also has a TV and it's own control. Full bathroom - full kitchen - washer and dryer. Everything you need is right here.
