- "The Oak Leaf lodge was great. The kids loved it. It was very clean and well maintained. The property was beautiful. We had fun swimming and using the paddle boats." - "Charming place to stay, it wad the perfect place for a little get away…so quiet and peaceful, great place to connect with nature!" - "We chose this cabin because of the light coming from all the windows and the skylight. It felt like being in a treehouse looking out at all the green trees around us. The downstairs room with four beds would be great for a family with kids but we chose to enjoy the two upstairs rooms. The stairs are a little steep but my 88-year-old mother made it up and down just fine. The cabin is a half mile from the lake so sometimes we chose to drive instead of walking down to the lake. There is whimsical art along the road and the trails which just make you smile. We took a canoe and paddled to the marsh and listened to a loud chorus of frogs and watched some loons. If the weather was warmer we would have tried out some of the other watercraft that's available. We lucked out and got to go on a nature walk with a scientist to some vernal pools. I wish I had had a place like this to go to when my kids lived at home. Even though we are older, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

- "My husband and I spent the week at the lake our 2 boys (10 and 13), my parents, my brother, his wife, and their 1 year old daughter. We all had a fantastic time. The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. There was lots of space for everyone to have their own area and to do what they wanted (watch tv, play pool, read on a couch with a beautiful view of the water). It was really helpful to have 2 fridges. The outdoor space was wonderful with the large dining table on the deck with the retractable awning. There were lots of lawn chairs and other seating near the water including the gazebo and picnic table. It was great to have so many floats and kayaks available. The area was secluded and peaceful but there were some nice restaurants just a short drive away. We took a ride to Weir's beach one day which was about 40 minutes away. Check in and check out were seamless. Our relaxing week came to an end way too soon!"

- "What a lovely spot. Maggie's place was a wonderful place for me, my husband, and another couple to decompress from our busy schedules. The cottage is cozy and provided every simple creature comfort we needed including a new gas grill that we loved to cook on! Our very favorite thing was to make a nightly fire in the fire pit and watch the sunset - thanks for the firewood too! Hearing the loons day & night was magical. My dog "nephew" loved the dock and taking a swim any time he liked. Thanks for your hospitality and we hope to come back! CB & SW / AR & TD & Smokey New York City"

- "We loved staying at Anna-Lisa’s property in Barnstead NH. First of all, Anna-Lisa is so nice and amazing about communicating with her renters. The little beach area that the house is on is perfect. It had soft sand and the water was like bath water! Plus we could see little fish swimming in the pond. It was really cool! We loved using the fire pit at night. There were plenty of chairs /seating outside too. The inside is great and the three bedrooms had AC units in them which was key. There were linens and towels provided along with some giant games like Jenga and Connect 4, so cute! The house was on a dirt road which is perfect for taking a little walk when you need a break. There was also a Dunks less than 10 minutes away which made my day. Anyway, I totally recommend this property and I hope to rent there again soon!"

- "There were seven of us in town for a graduation and this spot worked out well for us. The property had everything we needed for a five day stay. It’s on a lake which we really didn’t get to enjoy but it’s a great setting and much outdoors to do. " - "This property was amazing! I would recommend this to anyone. We loved the place and atmosphere. Plus the owners were very responsive and amazing." - "What a gem! We loved our time here. Access to the water and use of the kayaks and paddle boards were great. Nice to not be competing with powered boats on the water. The house was fantastic - loved the fire pit, outdoor grill (we only used the electric one, but there's also a charcoal one), and everything was perfectly clean when we got there.Communication was spot on - any questions were quickly answered. And some nice relaxing (and successful - thrown back) fishing off the dock (bring your own poles and get a license - 15 for 24 hours). We loved that we could bring our dog and he had a great time also! We'll be back!"

Leave everyday life behind - visit Graylag to relax in a comfortable rustic environment with family and friends. Our 6 family-style cottages share the lakefront so you can enjoy swimming, fishing, sailing and boating, or explore the miles of trails within our 300-acre woodland preserve. Spend evenings cooking over the fire and roasting marshmallows while listening to the calls of owls and loons.
Graylag is perfect for family reunions and group retreats -- rent one cabin or the entire property. However, we are not a good choice for bachelor parties due to the quiet, family atmosphere.
Birches Family Lodge is built for families. There is one bedroom with a king sized bed, another with a queen, and a 3rd bedroom with 4 beds (1 full and 3 twins- it's great for kids). There is a large open kitchen and dining area, 2 1/2 baths, a living room and a large screened porch with another dining table. There is a small front porch, a charcoal grill and a unique fort 20 feet from the front door that serves as a play house. The fully equipped kitchen includes a coffee maker, blender, toaster and microwave. Linens, bath towels, shampoo and a large selection of puzzles, games and books are also provided. Birches Family Lodge is about 300 meters from the waterfront.
Please note, no smoking and no pets.
- "Our family ended a busy vacation week visiting colleges with two nights at this cabin in the Graylag preserve. It could not have been more peaceful and perfect for our family of 6. We went on a few nature walks, kayaked/canoed, swam in the lake, and worked on a puzzle together - no wifi & no tv. We all wish we had been able to stay longer & hope to return soon. Thank you for a wonderful finish to our family’s summer vacation!" - "If you want to unplug (no TV and minimal service - wifi in the office is available) and spend time with family and friends, this is the place. We stayed in Birches and couldn't have been happier. Comfortable, clean beds and everything you need to cook for a group. We loved sitting on the screened in porch and playing cards at night. Having a charcoal grill meant slowing down and taking our time preparing meals together. The .25 mile walk to the waterfront was a joy and swimming was perfect the hot weekend we were there. Anne and Nik were very responsive and so pleasant, we couldn't have asked for a better spot for our little group. We will most certainly stay here again while in the area!"

The house is very clean, well supplied, nicely located in quiet neighborhood, and great views of nearby hills." - "Elena was the most understanding, sweet and accommodating host. I booked this home to stay in with dear friends for my wedding weekend. Like most weddings, we had many plan changes and needs. She was just so sweet about it all. The house is even more stunning in person! There is something very special about the land. It’s so relaxing and peaceful. She personalized our visit by putting fresh flowers out in almost every room, left us a card, champagne and sweet little gifts. She made us feel so special. This home and this host are both OUTSTANDING! I will never forget our experience and we’re so very grateful for that❤️"

- "Gorgeous, quiet house on the lake. Wonderful place to spend some time outdoors with nature." - "Accommodations were absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Rustic camp feel with a lot of privacy and room. Host communicated well and in a timely manner. I recommend trying to get there in daylight, however. At night it could be more challenging to find. Cell phone coverage in the house was very limited. You can get cell coverage if you step outside or on the front deck.If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this would be a great spot!"

Cousy Cabin is a charming old-fashioned cottage, perched on a hill over the water. Its quaint layout is perfect for a small family. It is tucked on a 300-acre nature preserve, nestled amid a wildflower garden. A short walk from the waterfront (just 1,000 feet or so), Cousy feels removed from the bustle of the world. A secluded deck offers a view of the lake from high atop its hill and provides a private spot to enjoy dinner or a book. The cabin has 1 bedroom with a queen sized bed and 1 bedroom with a full sized bed. Walking through the full bedroom brings you to a sun porch with a twin sized daybed. Guests have full access to the lake, canoes, kayaks, firepit, and 300 acres of woods and trails.
- "Greylag has to be one of the most serene nature spots I could imagine. The Cabin is Cozy with room to spare. The Wild Goose Pond did not disappoint with its gorgeous views and sounds of Loons echoing across the water. If you get a chance and can bear it, as you walk through the soft ground of the surrounding woods, I suggest taking your shoes off for some NH grounding! Thank You Greylag for the first of many stays in your pristine nature dream. Thank You, Anne, for your great hospitality."

The cabin is 11x14 post and beam with a loft and a newly added outdoor kitchen and dining area.
The newly designed summer kitchen addition has a 3 burner propane cooktop and sink. We added sliding barn doors on both sides so you can have it as open or closed as you want!
The cabin has a queen size platform bed on the first floor. All linens are provided and the sheets are from Red Land Cotton, 100% Cotton grown in American and Made in the USA. All lighting is solar!
Outdoors you have a large sized fireplace and plenty of firewood to burn with tree stump seating. We provide plenty of cast iron cookware for a real backwoods country meal. There is a picnic table and up to 10 gallons of potable water. The east side of the cabin has a solar shower (bring your own towels)
Tucked into the woods is the outhouse with solar lighting.
The cabin was built by hand with windfall pine trees from our farm. Each board and beam was cut right here on site on our bandsaw mill and hand notched for superior construction and look.
The cabin does not have electricity or running water. We did install plenty of bright solar lighting for you though!
You must hike in to the cabin. It’s about a 1/4 mile hike on foot. Its down hill on the way to the cabin so pack light. Whatever you bring back to your car will be up hill.
1 night here is ok, 2 nights and you really get to settle in... 3 nights you won't want to leave!
The farm animals are not part of this rental or experience. They should not be approached during your stay here. This is not a petting zoo.
There may be fragrances like candles in the cabin. The sheets are washed in laundry detergent. There is also taxidermy as decor and bugs and animals live in the woods. If you’re sensitive to these things please reconsider. Dogs are not allowed.

- "An harmonious and authentic stay that will leave you with fantastic memories. Peaceful and calming!" - "Jean Pierre's lakefront home is a gem -- it's cozy and well-appointed, with so many interesting books and pieces of art to look at. However, I hardly had time as I was sitting on the dock and blissfully staring at beautiful Huntress Pond, when I was not paddling my kayak in it! This was my second stay, and wouldn't hesitate to come back again!"
