They are also going to tell you that the only beach access is to go to the beach club which costs $150 euros per day. Not the case there is a public beach right down the road by the Paradise bar. It’s also going to be a 15-25 min walk to get to Porto Verene. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and breakfast options is limited. They serve the same thing everyday. "

If you are lucky enough to find this place available don't hesitate (but just be warned about the steep walk up - but it is so worth it though). The property is at the very top of everything hence the incredible views it has, it is totally unique and while the photos are good you need to see it for yourself to appreciate it. Originally built in 1960 and completely redesigned in 1976, the apartment has been continuously updated to ensure comfort and spatial flexibility.

The well-organized open-plan space is designed for natural light and optimal air circulation, providing a naturally cool environment. It includes a fully equipped living and dining area, a large double sofa bed, and a lofted double bed accessible via a wooden staircase.

The kitchen is functional and fully equipped with a dishwasher, induction cooktop, microwave/grill oven, refrigerator, and freezer.

Adjacent to the open space is a separate bedroom featuring two navy-style beds and a spacious wardrobe. The bathroom, elegantly finished in natural slate stone, features WC, washbasin and shower box.

There are some additional things about staying here that I think are useful to know. The apartment is at the top of a long hill. The walk down to the town is very pleasant with lovely views down to the sea. The walk back, less so, particularly on a hot day. However, this can be avoided. There is an excellent bus service running every half hour from the town to La Spezia with a stop just beyond the apartment. So for 1.50 Euro you can avoid the sweat. - "My family of four (includes two middle school aged children) had an incredible time in Portovenere. The flat is within walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants but far enough away that you can appreciate the quiet and breathtaking views. The beach is literally across the street which was really convenient. We spent most of our day away from the apartment, but it had all the amenities you would need. The second shower is actually not in the flat but up on the second veranda (yes, there are two balconies) but we actually liked using it as it still felt private and was more spacious. The hosts were responsive to any questions and made check-in and out very easy. The flat is on the smaller side but if the weather is right, you will want to spend most of your time on the veranda taking in the amazing views or out and about enjoying the city. There are also a lot of steps to get up to the flat so depending on age of kids or and any issues with stairs, just know there are quite a few steps to manage. Great experience overall."
