The log cabin, built in 2012 by the Amish, is located on the Root River Trail. The trail is great for biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, rollerblading, and walking. The cabin is 2.25 miles from Lanesboro via the trail. To access the trail, you just need to hop on your bike and ride down the road around the farmhouse.

The cabin is located on Hwy 250 3.75 miles by car north of Lanesboro with scenic bluff views. It is fully-furnished including two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with a queen bed. There also is a futon and bunk beds.

This is a complete house with everything you need, except food. Enjoy the scenic bluff views while sitting out on the covered porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. There is plenty of room to bring family or friends or just a loved one to enjoy a romantic get away.

Amish Valley Cabin in the heart of the Amish community is located 1.5 miles east of Canton, MN. This country cabin is completely furnished for your stay. The large kitchen will handle any family gathering size and has a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, crock-pot, coffee maker, and electric fry pan along with all the utensils. The open living room has a gas fireplace, leather couch and recliner with a 60” TV on the wall. This cabin has 3 private bedrooms, the master bedroom has its own master bath and a queen size bed. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and a full closet. Bedroom 3 can handle all the kids or multiple couples with 2 bunk beds with a full size bed on bottom and a twin on top and a closet. All the bedroom furniture, kitchen table and benches at the island are all handcrafted by the local Amish. There is an additional bathroom with shower located just off the living room. The kids can enjoy playing ping pong in our rec room along with watching satellite TV on the 50” TV on the wall or watching movies off Netflix.
The inside and outside of the cabin have a sound system with Bluetooth. Wi-Fi high speed internet and a cellphone booster.
Our cabin has a nice secluded setting ¼ mile off the paved black top road. There is a large fire pit area outside with permanent benches to seat 4-8 people along with a 4’ Charcoal grill to handle any gathering size.
On the front porch there is a swing to enjoy the scenic view of the wild flowers and all the bird houses. There is a 36’ x 48’ Barn with Blacktop base for motorcycles or cars to park during your stay. Behind the barn there is a shed to house your horses if you come down trail riding in the area.
We offer a 4 mile Private Amish Buggy Ride along with the winter months a Amish Sleigh Ride with a Free Will Donation.
If you like fishing we have a Private spring fed trout pond (catch and release only), no licensed required, poles and bait are provided and it is wheelchair accessible.
During the winter months SE Minnesota has some wonderful snowmobiling trails and they would be accessible from the cabin location.
The cabin is large enough to handle Class Reunions, Family Reunions, Weddings or Business Meetings and Catering food would be available.

Our guests frequently mention how well stocked the kitchen is for their cooking needs, including a large propane Weber grill. You just need to provide the food, everything else is there. Leave your bottled water behind. Our fresh well water may just be the best tasting water you have encountered. Several of our local restaurants serve our Schmidt Farm produce while in season. We are happy to recommend these great places to eat!

Hosts Paul & Karen live on the home farm which borders the property, a 10 minute scenic walk along the woods and across an organic hay field or short drive from the guest house.

Schmidt Farm is a honored to be recognized as a Century Farm having been continuously farmed by the Schmidt family since 1901, when the first immigrant generation of our Schmidt family moved here.

Miles of well maintained private hiking trails are available for your exploration on your access to 60 acres of woodland and native prairie & wildflower areas of Schmidt Farm. You will also have direct hike-in access to Forestville State Park.

The property is an excellent space for deepening your connection with nature through meditation or Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing). Small group retreats are encouraged.

Learn about organic vegetable growing with our large garlic and asparagus market gardens. Visit with Paul about our experience off-setting electrical usage through our solar panel arrays. Fossil hunting is a rewarding experience on the farm. Wildlife watching doesn't get any easier right out your window.

Karen is a fiber artist and loves to share this passion with guests. Our fiber flock includes Icelandic sheep, llama & alpaca. We do all of the fiber processing on farm from hand shearing our own animals to selling the final product.

Paul is a musician and you are often able to catch him playing at a local venue during your stay.

You choose your level of involvement with the hosts. Animal care always takes priority in our schedule. We will introduce you to the animals that share our farms and teach you about proper animal interaction and appropriate behavior expectations with them. You must provide proper supervision of children. Mistreatment of animals or property will not be tolerated.

We will provide guided tours of the home farm. No two stays at Schmidt Farm will look the same. Experience opportunities vary day to day.

We have a small farm store featuring products we produce here on the farm and also some additional necessities you may find a need for during your stay.

Some of our private trails may be shared with tent campers during the months of May, September and October.

Fall is a great time to enjoy the farm. Experience the beautiful fall colors, watch the harvest activity and sheep shearing, enjoy cool evenings by the campfire & explore the openness of the forest in the fall.

As we move into the fall season, the farm animals will start to move to our home farm as the pasture slows down for the year. All animals are moved to the home farm for winter shelter.

Newly renovated five bedroom, 3 bathroom located on a private farm site less than one mile from beautiful Lanesboro on paved county road 8. Wonderful for a romantic getaway for couples to family vacations, reunions, girls or craft weekends, or hunters, the 3,400 square feet of living space features an open concept, large great room/kitchen/dining area as well as a basement family room and a basement pool room.

**The nightly rate for this house is based on 6 occupants. There is an additional $30 charge per night per person up to 15 people. (12 in beds, 2 on air mattress and one on sofa). We price it this way so we can accommodate smaller groups. There is a $125 cleaning fee per stay, tax and Home Away fees also added.

The house is about a mile outside of town on the highway so riding bikes to town is not realistic but the trailhead with tons of parking is very close."

★ Lower-Unit: Jake, the homeowner, has turned the basement of this property into a secure and separate lower-unit, and lives there. You will not have access to that space or the backyard/patio during your stay. Jake may be out of town for work occasionally and will quietly come and go through his private door inside the garage. Jake is very friendly and may also access his desk in the corner of the garage on occasion.

★ Lower-Unit Tenant: A long-term tenant is currently renting a room of the lower-unit from Jake and living with him until January 20th, 2024. He has his own private parking space and accesses his apartment by the private backyard patio entrance through the back of the home. He does not have any contact with guests and does not have access to the garage like Jake does.

SLOW, SPOTTY INTERNET
✔ Due to the location, we are unable to get high-speed internet to the home yet. We are always checking to see if anything has been updated in the area and when they do, we will make sure wifi is faster. If you're coming to stream movies, you may experience many pauses and loading sessions.

STREAMING

BIKES & BELONGING STORAGE

LOWER-UNIT APARTMENT
(ALSO AT THE TOP OF DESCRIPTION)
✔ Your Private Space: You have private access to all the spaces pictured, which includes the entire main & upstairs levels, the driveway & whole front yard with covered deck, the patio with seating, and the grills & fire pit. The garage game room is also apart of your rental to use, but be aware when Jake is coming or going, as noted above.

✔ Lower-Unit: Jake, the homeowner, has turned the basement of this property into a secure and separate lower-unit, and lives there. You will not have access to that space or the backyard/patio during your stay. Jake may be out of town for work occasionally and will quietly come and go through his private door inside the garage. Jake is very friendly and may also access his desk in the corner of the garage on occasion.

✔ Lower-Unit Tenant: A long-term tenant is currently renting a room of the lower-unit from Jake and living with him. He has his own private parking space and accesses his apartment by the private backyard patio entrance through the back of the home. He does not have any contact with guests and does not have access to the garage like Jake does.

✔ All three doors leading to the Lower-Unit Apartment are labeled with “No Guest Access” signs and are locked. One is on the door in the garage, one on the door in the kitchen, and one on the basement patio door in the back.



GUEST ACCESS
The front door has an electronic lock, so all people need to do to get checked into the home is the 4 digit code to that lock. That code will be given to you with the check-in instructions prior to your arrival.

- "The Harmony Lighthouse is exactly what you see and more! It is a gorgeous home accented with Amish furniture and charm. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and is just comfortable to visit in. We have experienced staying in many VRBO's over the last 10 yrs and the Harmony Lighthouse is one of the best. It has everything you need from cooking to a variety of things to do in the garage(game room). The bedrooms are spacious with enough closets and dresser space for all groups and beds are comfortable. The furniture is again Amish made and beautiful. This home is immaculate and clean! The outside of the home is exactly as you see it. Beautiful front yard were you can relax and enjoy coffee in the morning or campfire in the evening. Our hosts, Drew & Rachel are very attentive and check in to make sure everything is going well and there are no issues. We will be back to visit Harmony and stay at this beautiful home!"

4 bedroom 2 bath, accomodates 8 guests (maximum 10) We are across the street from both the Root River and Root River bike trail. Walking distance to all the City of Lanesboro has to offer! Ride your bicycles right in and out of our street level secure basement entry. This area has dedicated outlets for ebike charging, washer and dryer, extra refrigerator/freezer and storage. First level has a living area with balcony that looks over Elmwood Street and Parkway Ave. Beautiful kitchen, dining room, bathroom with walk in shower and queen bedroom. Access to beautiful courtyard with outdoor dining and grill. Top floor has living room with direct access to landscaped backyard, office and full bath with deep soaker tub/shower. 1 private queen bedroom and one king bedroom (semi-private, converted 3rd living room) with balcony overlooking the city with an adjacent kids bedroom room with two standard twin beds. 3 night minimum.

Step away from the crowds in this quiet, quaint town of Preston located in Fillmore County. This VRBO is only blocks away from the Town Center with a nice Grocery store. It is also walking distance to the Bowling Alley with a bar and grill. You will feel safe in this small town living and there are no traffic lights in the town. It is located 3 blocks from the Root River and Bike Trails, that goes through other small towns. Preston is know as Minnesota’s Trout Capitol. It has a 9 - hole fishing course. It also has a Public Swimming pool costing $5.00 per person. Lanesboro is a 15 minute drive which has shopping, Live Theatre, and a Fish Hatchery. Harmony is about a 10 minute drive and known for its Amish tours.

“Root Haven” is family oriented. There are 3 bed rooms and a play room with a closet full of games for you and your children. This home is comfortable and ready for your visit.
