- "Honestly- this hotel is perfect in every way. Loved every minute of my one night stay. However the hilly unpaved gravel road coming from pool and my hotel room was a big hazard. There should be signs- caution. Possibly a handrail or making walking poles in rooms to provide stability. I understand that Chianti codes want the white gravel roads but more needs to be done to prevent falls and slip slides. I was being careful but still suffered a slide due to dlopemess- and bad surface scrape in bare legs. I am writing this to caution guests, but also staff have fallen too. Please take seriously. A much worse accident could happen. Take care! "

- "Bella location " - "The facilities are in need of an update. Maintenance has been deferred. Breakfast was not on par with other establishments in the region." - "Booked 4 rooms for family of 9. Tried to check in at 4 pm, Rooms were not ready. Other guests waiting as well. Went to dinner and came back at 9 pm and Still had to wait fo 1 room. My room was on the first floor. The guests above us took a shower and it leaked into our room. I’m not talking about a slow drip either (brother in-law dubbed it the rain forest room). It took about an hour for us to track down the owner and when she arrived she simply shrugged it off as not a big deal. The guest above us were no longer showering....so it’s no longer an issue. The next day the room smelled like something died causing us to move into other family members room. Asked for refund or another room and we were told it’s not possible. The property itself is beautiful. The pool was nice. Breakfast was ok. The vineyard in the pictures is being completely redone. So as of right now it’s just a dirt hill. As you can imagine with such a large task there’s a lot of machinery going on as well. It started about 6 am. For the money, in my opinion there are a lot of better options. "

Val delle Corti is a small winery in Radda in Chianti. The ‘Capanna’, an old, tastefully restored natural stone hay barn is a few meters from our main apartment building. Our guests have their own terrace with a garden and a wonderful view over the Tuscan hills. A quiet place in the heart of the Chianti Classicos from which all the beauties of Tuscany can be easily reached. B. Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Arezzo. Two to four people can be accommodated in the 90 square meter house. On the first floor of the house there are two double bedrooms (one with two separable single beds), halfway up the bathroom and on the ground floor a large living room with an open kitchen and dining area. From here, guests have access to the terrace with dining area and their own garden, deck chairs and barbecue are available.
The kitchen is fully equipped (also with a washing machine) our guests are self-sufficient.
The next town Radda is 1.5 km away, there are various shops, banks, a pharmacy, restaurants and bars.

They made us feel right at home, took time out from vineyard'ing to help us put together a dream in the time we had there. The word helpful does not begin to describe their warm hospitality. Roberto's final word during our Chianti Classico orientation was "The best thing you can do while traveling around Chianti is to get lost." No truer words! Music (classical) was played through a radio, but I would have enjoyed more some Italian music from a CD (maybe the soundtrack of A Room With A View?? :-) for the atmosphere. The view from the terrace we had our breakfast on was dreamy. Our room was comfy and clean and roomy and nicely decorated. The lounge was also comfortable, had nice decor and a fireplace. We are early risers and it was nice to get up and stroll around the gardens before breakfast. Otherwise we didn't "hang around", so we can't say anything about the pool (which was still open in early September) or lounging around during the day there. The two close towns, Castellina and Rada, were pleasant and we enjoyed strolling around in them. Our hosts were pleasant enough but weren't exactly "warm". When we asked about a nice place for dinner, we were told there were a lot of good places in town, and nothing more."

Leccino is one of three houses that are part of Podere Pornanino, a 36-hectare organic farm producing extra virgin olive oil. Pornanino is located in the Gallo Nero region, in the heart of Chianti, between Radda, Castellina and Vagliagli and is surrounded by olive trees, wooded hills and two small rivers.

The main farm house and the two stone barns, Leccino and Capannino, have been restored and refurbished to excellent standards all with the same warm and welcoming style.

Leccino is an independent house, very welcoming and comfortable. It includes a double bedroom with bathroom (bath and wall-mounted shower), a fully equipped kitchen and a large living room with dining area. The door opens onto a private terrace and garden overlooking the olive groves, ideal for enjoying the morning sun and the cool evening breeze. The terrace is equipped with table and chairs for outside dining and deckchairs for relaxing. The house has its own central heating system, mosquito nets on the windows, safe, satellite TV, DVD player, high speed internet connection / Wi-Fi, hairdryer, dishwasher, and stereo with CD player.

A very well maintained garden surrounds the houses. Nearby we find the swimming pool (6 x 12 m) with spacious solarium terrace, furnished with deckchairs and parasols. The swimming pool is open from mid-May until the end of September and is shared by the tenants of the houses and occasionally by our family.

There is a separate utility room with washing machine for the exclusive use of the accommodation.

Pornanino is accessible by 5 km of very well maintained unpaved road (strada bianca). The medieval town of Castellina in Chianti with an excellent choice of restaurants, canteens, coffee bars, Coop supermarket, post office, banks and a variety of other shops is 5km away, Florence 32kms and Siena 18km. San Gimignano, Volterra, Monteriggioni, Arezzo, Cortona and many other attractive towns are easily accessible by car. The property is 9 km from Radda in Chianti, another beautiful medieval hilltop town with its cobbled streets and also a good choice of restaurants and shops.

It is ideally located right in the middle of Chianti Classico, midway between Florence and Siena, allowing to experience the atmosphere of the surrounding small towns, like Greve, Castellina, Radda, Volpaia, Vertine, but in easy reach of other well known places like such as San Giminiano, San Galgano, Volterra, Monteriggioni and Pienza. A one day trip allows you to visit the most attactrive medioeval and early renaissance towns of Orvieto, Cortona, Spoleto, Gubbio, Urbino, and also the gulf of La Spezia, with the resorts of Lerici and Porto Venere, and the the neighbouring Cinque Terre (The Five Villages) along the Ligurian coast.

The property spreads across a little more than 5 acres. The villa overlooks the 2.5 acres of olive grove, surrounded by a beautiful view of surrounding vineyards and small villages in the distance. The property is bound on all sides by a fence to protect the plants from wild boars, roebucks and deers living in hundreds of hectares of woods that surround the property.

The interior is decorated with artifacts/souvenirs from our trips around the world. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything to enjoy a fantastic Italian meal.On demand Alessia, a professional cook, can come and prapare at home a typical and sophisticated diner for you and your guests.In the courtyard, where you can enjoy the majority of the meals, there is also an old brick oven to cook your pizzas or to grill Tuscan beef meat (“tagliata”) and sausages. Most of the bedrooms overlook the olive grove and at night you could hear the wild boars in the fields below. The pool is cool and refreshing and enjoyable almost at any time during the renting season. Small children can play at the Playground, equipped with wooden houses and outdoor structures.
You can enjoy the lovely sunset on the terrace with an aperitivo, a bottle of the local Chianti and a plate of prosciutto crudo (ham), salami and caciotta (local cheese slices).

The small surrounding towns are a must, as they offer a large choice of extremely good restaurants, excellent food shops with local specialties, wine festivals and caves, open air farmers markets for your fresh vegetables and many other options. The local grocery store has a 'live' butcher, fresh bread and most everything else. You can’t miss the monastery and church of S. A little more on the house and its history
The house belongs to the category of buildings that historians of Tuscan architecture call “spontaneous architecture” being the result of additions made through centuries by successive generations. Its most ancient part is deemed to go back to the 13th century and one can still detect, where now is the upper part of the sitting room, the features of a small square tower conceived as a lookout of a fortified farm, named “Le Stinche alte”, that today survives as a ruin. “Le Stinche” in the second half of that century belonged to the Florentine family of Guido Cavalcanti, a close friend of Dante Alighieri and himself a renowned poet, who, like Dante, was a “Guelfo Bianco”s (a “White Guelf”), that is a follower of the moderate faction of the “Guelf” Party. This fortified farm in 1304 was assailed and taken by the “Guelfi Neri” (“Black Guelfs”), the radical faction of the Guelf Party that had become the fierce enemy of the “Guelfi Bianchi”. At that time, the “Guelfi Neri” acknowledged as their leader Charles II of Anjou, King of Sicily, whose son Robert, Duke of Calabria and future king of Sicily, was moving from southern Italy to Tuscany with a large party of knights (see Davidsohn, Storia di Firenze, german title Gechichte von Florenz)). In due time the small lookout developed as an agricultural farm.

The villa was roomy, kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, etc. There was an issue with a/c which Graziano had resolved in 48 hrs. The Experience
This beautiful farmhouse is located in a very quiet and secluded position on the Castello di Volpaia estate, where we have successfully been renting two other properties, La Pozza and Il Casetto for many years. Guests can enjoy incredible views from the covered terrace, which is furnished for outdoor eating and is also very practical for families as it overlooks the pool, allowing parents to relax while keeping an eye on the pool area. The fortified hamlet of Volpaia offers two nice restaurants, one of which owned by the estate. The English speaking estate staff can organize cooking lessons, visits to the wine cellars and will be glad to assist guests during their stay.

After arriving you will be welcomed by the owner or manager where you’ll find a beautiful clean well-maintained property with views of the hills ideal for a peaceful holiday in Tuscany. After a busy day of visiting museums, spend some time with friends and family poolside enjoying a glass of wine - a perfect way to unwind at the end the day. If you enjoy cooking for family and friends there is a well-equipped kitchen including coffee machine, microwave, toaster, stove and refrigerator, as well as, plenty of tableware and cutlery for up to 12 people. If you prefer to dine 'al fresco', there is a fully furnished veranda where you can enjoy the weather while dining outdoors.
