Tenuta La Fuga ( literally "The Escape") is a charming farmhouse nestling in the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside. It reflects the Folonari family’s great love for Tuscany, its land, its grapes, and the wines produced from its vineyards and that for centuries have been at the heart of the family business.
La Fuga is at the center of one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, the land of Brunello, one of Italy’s most famous wine-producing areas. Located near Montalcino (41 km from Siena), the rural surroundings make it a very quiet and peaceful dwelling, the only noises being the swallows flying joyfully in the sky just before sunset.

Loving the land also means sharing and allowing others to enjoy this beauty. With this in mind, in 2012 the Folonari started restoring the Estates’ properties and their surrounding land, diversifying into ‘one-hospitality’ as a complement to the wine business.

The house was re-styled maintaining the character of an old-style Tuscan farmhouse. It is fully equipped and very comfortable for 5 adults and 2 babies. One of its main features is the beautiful terracotta terrace overlooking the vineyards and the rolling hills in the distance. Views are truly breathtaking and one would only wish to relax here at the end of a long summer day enjoying a glass of Brunello and meditating on the beauty of the surroundings!

The pool, for the exclusive use of the guests, offers sunny areas as well as relaxing shady spots where a pergola gives extra shelter for outdoor dining. The pool area is fenced all around for safety.

There are many interesting places to visit in the area, but if one day you prefer the peace that the house offers, our trusted in-villa chef would be available, after the appointment, to cook for you or to give an enjoyable cooking lesson.

At Tenuta La Fuga you may visit our cellar where we produce our Brunello wine with our caretaker, upon his availability, but there is not an organized wine tasting. If you are a real wine lover and would like to know further about our production, please come and visit our main cellars by the Tenuta di Nozzole near Greve in Chianti, where we hold proper wine tastings. Booking your visit and wine tasting in advance is strongly recommended. Visiting the lovely and lively village of Greve in the morning, and visiting our cellar at Nozzole in the afternoon, could be an opportunity to see another beautiful part of Tuscany, the Florentine province.

- "This villa is quiet, clean, rustic, and perfect. My spouse and I loved the remote location and the working vineyard. We were given all the information we needed during our stay. When we return to Italy, we will try to stay at this villa again." - "This was a beautifully designed and appointed home with lots of outdoor space for walking (and enjoying the pool in the summer). Davide who manages the house was welcoming and explained all of the aspects of the home to us upon our arrival. The house was incredibly comfortable and clean. The surrounding vineyard were stunning and the house provided plenty of outdoor vantage points to enjoy this. Two areas to consider with this home. The kitchen area has two beautiful windows/doors for natural light but the sink area was dark. Also, this home is located approximately 15 minutes outside of Montalcino so arriving before dark is advised. The owners provided a sampling of their wine and a welcome basket (along with eggs, milk, juice, pasta and sauce), which was lovely and then also had a a full complement of their wines for us to purchase and drink during our stay. We loved this as it allowed us to try out a few wines from their label during our stay with ease. Last, if arriving home after a long day of touring, the home is well equipped for cooking dinner at home (or arranging dinner with Chef Francesco who was wonderful!) with a full set of pots and pans, a grill and all of the dish ware needed for a full dinner. We enjoyed dinner with Chef Francesco on our first night and ate at home two other nights to avoid going back out after long days of sightseeing and visiting wineries. Great option for families. We would definitely return!"

- "Great place to stay with a stunning view, pool and outdoor dining area. The gardens are bursting with rosemary and flowers. In the morning the local house martins swoop down and collect bugs from the surface of the pool, it’s quite a spectacle. Great to have multiple bathrooms, comfy beds and a usable kitchen space. Only concern about the villa was there wasn’t a few of the basic kitchen things such as washing up liquid or cooking oil. There is also no air conditioning, but that was okay as all of the windows have mosquito nets over them so we could have them open in the night. Unfortunately, I’m not sure they were 100% mozzie proof so some of us still got a little bitten. The host Mauro and Paula were generally very friendly and came to water the plants on a couple of mornings as it was particularly hot. The only other things to note was additional costs required for utilities."

Trequanda is a 14th century hilltop town in the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and lush greenery. Casa Trequanda offers an authentic Tuscan experience in a peaceful and picturesque setting . The town has a regionally renown Zagat and Michelin Bib Gormand rated restaurant, Conte Matto, as well as a charming town square, with a unique vegan Italian pizzeria/restaurant, a pharmacy, local bar, bank with an ATM. In the center of town in the piazza is a 14th century church in the old Romanesque style. Trequanda also has an excellent deli/butcher shop next to the pizzeria that will vacuum pack guanciale and other goodies for your trip home. There is a small but well stocked local market in town as well. On hot days, the community pool below the pizzeria is a great way to spend time with locals under the olive trees for a reasonable per day charge.

Trequanda is one of the famous "Cinque Sorelle" or Five Sister towns, a gateway to many day trips on scenic county roads. Other lovely renaissance hilltop towns, such as Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino are just a short distance away and make for an easy outing. Siena is 40 minutes away and Florence is 1-1/2 hours by car. At the end of the day, you can return to the tranquility of Trequanda. All around us are famous restaurants, including several In Monticchielo and Fondo, just outside of town.

Casa Trequanda has the upper two levels of a three-story flat located in the historic center of town. Middle Level: two bedrooms with queen beds, bathroom, full kitchen, living room and balcony. Upper Level: one large bedroom with queen bed, bathroom, sitting room, washer/dryer and microwave. Both units offer spectacular views of a beautiful Tuscan landscape with rolling hills. Enjoy the stunning sunsets from the 2nd floor balcony. Note that there are quite a few stairs leading to the 2nd and 3rd floors and no elevator. We have a cooling system in place for the very hot days using portable AC systems.

There are also wonderful restaurants (Il Passaggio by Capanna is a 5 minute walk from the property) enotecas, and gelaterias nearby in case you get the urge to indulge off premises. Many of them have al fresco dining with great views. You will soon find out, it is impossible to find a bad meal. But for those times when you are just too sated to leave, you will find the pool, yard, and the outdoor and indoor living, dining, and relaxation spaces to be enchanting. There were ample beach towels provided and six chaise lounges — three with pads for comfort. The most important thing to know about this property which wasn’t clear to us from the listing is that there are four bedrooms upstairs and only one bathroom. The two other bathrooms are downstairs, but there are no bedrooms. We were two couples traveling together, and the upstairs bathroom was challenging to use because the door scrapes loudly on the tile floor to open or close it. We felt like it would wake up our friends if we used it. It would be an easy fix to trim the door! The stairs are steep and a little uneven, due to the age of the property. Suggestions: Upgrade the bathroom towels and provide bedroom extension cords."

The apartment was totally renovated in March of 2016 with a beautiful new kitchen including all new appliances, dinnerware and cooking utensils (including sharp knives!); a separate dining area with new table and chairs for 4 people: a refined living room with a queen size sofa bed and two comfortable chairs sitting on a lovely Oriental rug, plus warm old world cabinetry that houses the Television and provides plenty of storage space. The bedroom has a full size wardrobe for all of your clothing items and a new queen size bed with a premium mattress. The spacious bathroom includes a clothes washer/dryer for your convenience.

Interaction with Guests
Our local House Manager speaks both Italian and English and will meet you upon arrival with keys, and a parking pass for your car. He will then take you through the apartment explaining how everything works, where everything is located and answer any questions you may have. The House Manager will also be available to you during your stay to make recommendations, give directions, or provide any other concierge type services.

Our location within Montalcino is perfect for a visit to any of the local wineries to taste the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. Enjoy some great Tuscan food and wine in the town's many restaurants. Walk through the charming medieval hilltop town and visit its many shops selling local products such as wine, meats, produce, honey and other artisan products. Be sure to try locally made ice cream from the gelaterias. Enjoy the wonderful views of the famous south Tuscan countryside from the 16th century fortress and step inside a local museum or church for some traditional culture. Or just have a coffee or glass of wine in Piazza del Popolo to watch life pass by.

Around the Local Tuscan Area
Our location within Tuscany is perfect to explore the famous spas in the neighboring town of Bagno Vignoni or to go for a hike or bike ride through the famously beautiful Val d'Orcia. Try out the beach and seafood opportunities in Castiglione della Pescaia which is only an hour away. Visit the famous 9th century Sant' Antimo abbey (15 minutes away) or explore charming Renaissance towns like Montepulciano (45 minutes away) and Pienza (30 minutes away). The latter also doubles as the center for Tuscany's pecorino cheese production. There are excellent shopping opportunities at the Val di Chiana outlet village (45 minutes away) or The Mall, perhaps Italy's best designer outlet village (90 minutes away). And there's always Siena - just a short distance to the North, the best preserved medieval city in Tuscany and with a great atmosphere. Other Tuscan gems like Chianti, San Gimignano, and Florence are 30 minutes to two hours away (Florence).
