The house is built in the style of the great Australian homestead and has private estate written all over it. The house boasts a traditional wrap around veranda, designed to maximize the views. Whether out across the bay towards the You Yangs and Port Arlington or into the romantic semi circle rose garden. Both are equally stunning. Wherever the eye rests, it takes in scenes that calm and relax the mind, body and soul.

The resort-style pool with spa at Lionsgate is world-class, with breathtaking views over the bay. The 12 x 5 meter solar heated pool forms part of a huge paved and decked entertainment area, with plenty of room to relax for the whole family. The spa is gas heated, a perfect place to enjoy the sunset with a drink.

The front door opens immediately into the formal living room, complete with an antique grandfather clock, an antique grand piano, classic paintings by European artists and an open fireplace. Immediately one is drawn to the large floor to ceiling windows and French doors, which encapsulate the outstanding view.

The barn is located on one of the quietest roads in Red Hill. Situated on a rural property, your nearest neighbours are a small herd of cows on one side, horses on the other. Birdlife abounds on the property's dam. You won't hear traffic noise and can wake to birdsong. The views of rolling hills are spectacular.

You are welcome to roam the barn paddock which incorporates the olive grove, vines and picturesque dam. As this is a working farm with operating machinery and cattle, please stay within the expansive barn paddock and leave any gates as you find them (open or closed).

Restaurants, wineries and food stores are within a short drive. Port Phillip Bay and Westernport Bay are equal distances away. A number of beaches are no more than 15 minutes drive.
Our favourite restaurant, Polperro, is just around the corner. Foxy's Hangout, another favourite, is perfect for lunch (and where our grapes get made into wine). Get great coffee and gourmet food at Red Hill Cellar and Pantry - the area's loveliest supermarket in Red Hill South. Visit Johnny Ripe for the best apple pies ever.

We welcome guests to book that are going to use the property respectfully. We have a very strict no party policy at the house, which means no loud music day or night, and at 11pm we ask you to move inside with no noise to the neighbours. We love our neighbours and want to look after them.

JOIE DE VIVRE is our dream escape to your own little piece of paradise with picturesque 10-acre views in Red Hill, in the heart of the peninsula's wine region.When we drive down the quiet country lane with the tree-lined driveway we know we have the most relaxing weekend waiting for us. As interiors addicts, we feel like we have walked into a magazine cover. What to look at first? The marvellous french inspired cast iron fireplace or the facing chesterfield sofas or the view in the background.
We really never want to leave, we walk the dog in the grounds and sit on the jetty in the dam and ponder the meaning of life while watching the fishes swim by. The kids are completely engrossed in the playground, tennis court or basketball...so many things to do.
The property is located right next door to Main Ridge Estate and across from Red Hill Cheese, two wonderful gourmet destinations that we don't even need to get in the car and drive to. The vines for Main Ridge Estate are in fact at the back door of this property.
Please note that there is a security camera located on the roof of the pump shed by the water tanks. The camera is pointed towards the equipment shed and has no view of the main house, playground or dam. This camera is not active during your stay.

Your bedroom furniture has been custom made from sustainable Victorian native timbers with natural wool carpet in the bedroom. Organic handwash from Olieve & Olie has been placed in both marble washrooms. A continental breakfast for your first day is also provided You enter through your own private door via your own private court yard with fire pit and seating under a large Peppercorn Tree. Hotel slippers are provided at the door for your convenience and comfort. The bedroom and living area is 100% wool carpet and euro kitchen, dinning and laundry have floor boards. A reverse cycle system will keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. The adjustable king size bed has a natural latex mattress to further complement the environmentally friendly credentials with natural cotton sheets by Morgan and Finch. Inside, you’ll find everything you need: a comfy queen bed with soft linens, a full kitchen with fridge and stovetop, a hot shower, composting toilet, and a stash of books and board games. There’s also a BBQ and a firepit (seasonal) for evenings under the stars.

Fire restrictions are now in force from 17 November 2025 until 1 May 2026 - no fires are permitted during this time.
