- "We had a lovely week at Catholes. It's a really relaxing house. The location is beautiful and the interior is super comfy - it was quite hard to get out of the sofas! It's a big house so there was plenty of room to spread out and relax during the day and then the snug was cozy and welcoming in the evening to watch a bit of telly. The kitchen was very well equipped - you do end up walking backwards and forwards quite a bit because the sink and cooker are either side of the middle countertop, but having all that prep room and storage makes up for it. The appliances all looked like new and were easy to use and we had five out of seven lovely family meals at the big dining table. Beds and bathrooms all good and Mike the host was really helpful when we reported there was a leaky tap in the main bathroom - it was fixed the same day. Our dog loved the garden - particularly when we ran right round the house with her! We did keep her off the front lawn (the other side of the fence) as there is quite a drop down to the river, but we were quite happy using the back garden. Location is also great and there are loads of places to visit and things to do. We had a fab time!"

There are six ensuite rooms and two bedrooms that share a bathroom. Five rooms can be made up as twin, or double beds on request. One room has a bunkbed . Joanne and Damian, who are your live in hosts, have opened up their home at St Marks Stays for groups and retreats. We are about creating a sociable experience that brings people together in the stunning location of the Yorkshire Dales and in close proximity to the Lake District.

With the perfect combination of facilities, space and location, St Marks Stays is for groups and retreats, is self-catering and pet friendly. We want you to feel a part of our home with the addition of lots of space to take time out on your own.

There are six ensuite rooms and two bedrooms that share a bathroom. Five rooms can be made up as twin, or double beds on request. Three bedrooms have double beds. All ensuites have showers and one has a bath. The shared bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.

The kitchen is the new heart of the home and that’s how we want you to feel at St Marks Stays. Our kitchen is perfect for your self-catering requirements where you can cook together, or have a chef, or caterers come in to create delicious food for you. We provide tea & coffee, seasonings & oils and kitchen equipment so you can cook on the gas hob, electric oven, or learn to use our Aga.

Our fabulous dining space is perfect for dinner parties, with large windows and patio doors offering awesome views across the hillside. There are two lounges, a real fire in one of them and a studio space that is perfect for all kinds of retreats, be it yoga, art, or business.

If you don't fancy venturing out into the surrounding countryside, then just sit back in our fabulous garden, listen to the river and enjoy the views from the comfort of the patio. Lets face it, we're right in the heart of the countryside so you can enjoy your chosen tipple, have a BBQ and then watch the sun go down over the beautiful Howgill Fells, staying warm in the evening around the fire pit and gaze up at the stars due to there being no light pollution.

- "We had a beautiful week here. The location is so beautiful and we were very lucky with the weather too, so were able to enjoy the garden and the nearby walks. Sitting outside, all you can hear is the gentle babble of the stream beside the house and the sheep in the surrounding fields. The cottage is very comfortable with plenty of room and has everything you need. The kitchen was very well equipped; sofas and beds all comfy and a lovely welcome basket full of local treats. We stayed fairly local and visited Dent, Sedburgh, Ribblehead Viaduct, Bowness-on-Windermere, Malham Cove and Hawes. There are loads of lovely walks in the area including one that starts from the house. We can also recommend the fish and chip van that comes on a Friday just around the corner from the Sun Inn in Dent - opposite the car park. We really had a great stay and would probably come back again."

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Queen's Square in the cobbled centre of Dent, so less than 3 minutes walk to the village store, real ale pubs & cafes.
Dentdale is on the west side of The Yorkshire Dales National Park & less than 30 miles from Windermere & The Lake District.

The opening to the parking space was exceptionally tight for us, even with wi gmirrirs in and we did scratch the side of the car on the coarse bushes overhanging the wall at the entrance.
