It was absolutely perfect for that purpose. The room was adequate and spacious with a small patio and a small grassy area overlooking the pool. If you like space, I would recommend this room, which was not one of the more expensive ones. The complimentary breakfast was expansive and delicious. It is a bit of a walk to the center of town, so you might want to take an Uber. Although the walk up to the top of the castle was awesome."

Irregular depth and height, and the curvature at the top makes getting suitcases up dangerous at best. There is no AC but the fan sufficed for an early October stay. My husband had to watch several YouTube videos to work out the complex coffee maker which was annoying. Finally the hot water only lasts about 4-5 minutes in the shower. Bathroom was disgusting with mold and just awful. 90 degree weather no air conditioner. Expedia should not have this place as a place for visitors to stay. We had to leave bc of conditions and honestly we didn't feel comfortable staying there. We should be refunded because honestly the photos on expedia are false advertisement. - "Property was awesome. Spacious and clean. Had a great time with friends and family. House is a great place to relax. Only downside was the property manager was useless. He left a wrong key in the key safe to open the door house. We struggled to open the door for 45 minutes and with no knowledge of the local language seeking help became difficult. Phoned property manager and he didn't pick up the phone. Phoned the owner of the property but he spoke French so again a barrier. Did video call so that owner can understand the problem. He then rang property manager. Problem resolved. Had another problem with boiler pressure was down and hot water supply stopped. Phoned property manager but by then we realised that he was utter useless for the need. If you don't need the property manager whilst you stay, can't fault the property or the owner's great efforts in making the property so liveable. - "José was a fantastic host, we were welcomed with delicious pasteis de nata, crackers, cheese and wine upon arrival. He would pop in every couple of days to clean the pool and would always stop for a chat if we were around. The villa itself is beautiful with a fantastic view of the Castelo de Sesimbra, which was lit up at night. Very spacious and perfect for our two families of 10 people. The pool was larger than expected and the kids (and grown ups!) loved it, even going for an evening swim with the pool lights on! Kitchen was well equipped, we did a lot of cooking on the bbq too. Plenty of space to eat inside or out, beds were very comfortable and air conditioning throughout. The villa had a gated entrance which made us feel more secure. There is a great patisserie a couple of minutes walk from the villa, ideal for breakfast and other traditional treats! It is downhill to get into Sesimbra, so we didn't walk it due to the heat! Parking can be a nightmare so need to get there early. We would highly recommend Villa Branca do Castelo."
