I found this place to be very relaxing and I met lots of friendly folks also traveling while enjoying a fire in living room watching movies for many hours feeling cozy. Other folks were playing games in the adjacent room and some folks were cooking in the shared kitchen. I felt welcomed and at home. I slept like a baby in the very comfortable double bed instead of the bunk bed that I paid for and planned on sleeping in. There’s a washer and dryer available for anyone who needs to use it. Ian also offered coffee or tea with the condiments. I’ve never had anyone offer this for the small price I paid to stay in a hostel. I played with Candy short for Candice the adorable dog and Jerry the cute kitty since I love animals. I definitely recommend staying here when in Turangi. You can’t beat the price for the hospitality that you receive. Thank you!"

- "We had a great overnight stay here. We needed somewhere half way between Wellington and Auckland to break up the long drive for the kids. The pool was a hit and the big inflatable pillow was fun. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs, each with a Queen sized bed. The third bedroom also contains a bunk bed. There is a single fold out bed and a fold down couch as well, which can be placed anywhere in the house.
The queen beds all have electric blankets for the colder nights and there are 2 single electric blankets and spare blankets in the cupboards.

Bathrooms
There are 2 full bathrooms. One upstairs and one downstairs. The downstairs one has a separate toilet.

Rest of house
Downstairs there is a fully equipped open plan kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher as well as a dining area, a breakfast bar, a bar with small tv and a lounge with cozy fireplace.
There is an additional lounge with a large tv and DVD player upstairs.
Please be aware the tv signal is intermittant at times.

You can park your car on the property, either under the carport with covered access to the house or in the driveway. There is also plenty of parking space on the side of the road.

Turangi is located on the Tongariro River which is famous for its trout fishing, river rafting, walks and bike rides.
It is a perfect base for outdoor activities around Mt Ruapehu.
The North Island’s main skiing area (Whakapapa ski field on Mt Ruapehu) is a 45 min drive away,
and the car parks for the world famous Tongariro Crossing are readily accessible in 25-35 minutes.
Many different shuttle services are available or you can drive yourself.
Enjoy the beautiful bays of Lake Taupo, all within a 10-15 minute drive or take a slightly longer drive of 30 minutes into Taupo itself.
And after all your adventures take a soak in the hot pools of Tokaanu – only 5 minutes away from The Barn.

There are ramps upon entrance to our home front and back, there is a slight lip into the house but okay for wheelchairs.

The street is lovely and quiet. With only minutes to the town centre by car or 10min walk. Take a lovely stroll along the Tongariro River Trail.

It is heated by a heat pump in the main lounge with also a couple of heaters available in the rooms if required.

Deck space both back and front of the house, sit, relax, and enjoy with a beer or glass of wine enjoying the sun and beautiful birdlife in the backyard.

If required, laundry space and supplies available for use, clothes pegs, and a clothesline.

Off-street private parking is available.

Back Garden. Totally private and fenced off with access only from front of house. Stunning views, for the ornithologist absolutely full of birds flying from the trees located in the garden. Garden furniture , Outdoor dining for 6 provided and sun umbrella.

Very sunny location. Town centre is only a 10 minute walk or for the big shop 2 mins in the car to NewWorld, BurgerKing, Restaurants and Take aways.Very central location. Loads of play parks in town and an amazing indoor fully heated Olympic sized Adults and children’s swimming pool. Mini golf is my favourite. Oh and don’t forget the fishing in the river.

Rapid River Retreat is located in Turangi with the river running along the end of the road.

A short walk to the end of the road will take you to the stunning river trail loop. Here you will find the crystal clear waters of the Tongariro river, the perfect place to catch trout.

This really is the perfect house to enjoy the outdoor paradise that surrounds, nature walks abound and you’re less than an hour from the mountain and 20 minutes from the Tongariro crossing.

The yard was fully fenced and our dog loved it. The kids had fun in the hot tub and enjoyed walking to the river & playground. Beds were comfy and the house in general was presentable and had all the facilities we needed. "

Boathaven is in a very convenient location. It is a short 2 min drive or 15 minute walk to the township which offers many adventurous activities.(white water rafting, kayaking, mountain bike riding, bush walking, hiking, fishing, indoor and outdoor climbing, golf and cultural guided walks)
This unit has everything you need for a comfortable stay after an adventurous day. There is one bedroom upstairs with all the facilities and one bedroom downstairs with an ensuite. There is even a large garage for the boat! 🛶
