Convenience meets relaxation and historic charm! This adorable vacation rental allows guests the choice of cooking their own meal in a fully stocked kitchen, or simply walking to any of the wonderful local restaurants to experience a variety of delicious cuisines.

This unit is an apartment, within a historic home, which hosts two other long-term tenants. After entering a shared foyer and going up a set of curved stairs, guests will have their own dedicated space completely. The only other shared area is the basement laundry room. The apartment itself (bedrooms, kitchen, living areas, etc) is yours completely and is not shared with anyone outside of your group. Keyless entry allows an easy self-check-in, and you will be greeted with a manual of suggestions for local restaurants and fun things to do nearby.

The house itself was built in 1861 and has gone through numerous updates throughout the last 150+ years; the latest update being in 2020.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
The home sleeps up to 6 people in the following areas:
-Master Bedroom: 2 people (King bed)
-Guest Bedroom: 2 people (Queen bed)
-Living Room: 2 People (fold-out queen 4" foam mattress)

BATHROOMS:
There is one full bathroom (with a tub).

KITCHEN:
The kitchen includes a stainless-steel sink, quartz counter tops, a peninsula with barstool seating for 2, a kitchen table and 4 chairs, fridge and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, and blender. Dishware and spices/cooking oils are provided, along with coffee, tea, and sweeteners.

DESKS/WORK AREAS:
A desk is available for work; guests would simply need to bring their own computer to plug in. WiFi is provided.

TECHNOLOGY:
--A smart TV is provided with access to Netflix/Hulu, etc.
--Wifi is provided.
--The house has a boiler heating system with radiators throughout. Window AC units are controlled by you. If you do not want to utilize the devices, you can simply turn them off.
--A washer/dryer is available for your use (free) in the basement.

HEATING/COOLING
The house is on a boiler system with radiators for heat during the cooler months. There are 3 portable AC window units, for cooling during warmer months, along with 3 portable room fans.

Free street parking is plentiful in front/on the side of the house.

SAFETY NOTES:
1. This home is NOT baby-proofed. (We do not have outlet blockers, no furniture is strapped to walls, stairs do not have gates, there are no safety locks on cabinets, etc.) Some windows are low to the ground where curious kids could easily get out. Children must be accompanied by adults at all times, and guests are responsible for the safety of their children.
2. The stairs are steep (the house was built in 1861!). Guests must climb a full flight of stairs to get into the unit—Those who are not able bodied will NOT be able to easily navigate the home; although the house was updated in 2020, the age of the house does not render it handicap equipped.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
While I am happy to welcome guests of all backgrounds, I will only be accepting booking requests from:

--AirBnB users who are "verified" and who already have multiple positive reviews from other hosts. (A fully refundable $500 security deposit is required from guests who have no reviews. The $500 is returned once the cleaning crew confirms there are no damages, and the apartment is in good condition.)
--Renters that are above the age of 25.
--Renters who are NOT bringing pets. No pets allowed.
--A maximum of 6 guests per reservation. Extra guests are not allowed.
—I value my relationship with my neighbors and fellow tenants, so events/gathering/parties are not to be held by guests. In order to keep the unit in excellent condition for future guests, I am firm on these rules. I apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

While I do tend to be a “hands off” hosts, please note that I will also be in the lower unit during your stay.

Guest Access and Amenities

Guests have their own dedicated parking on the side of the house, leading to stairs and a scenic path to their private front door. Enjoy full access to your front yard, complete with a patio, hot tub, and a unique dome, perfect for relaxation and stargazing.

A smart lock with keyless entry at the front door provides secure access with a four-digit code valid only during your stay, ensuring peace of mind. The code is erased upon checkout, maintaining security for all guests.

Guests have full access to this level and parking spaces. The owner lives on the top two levels when not traveling. There is no shared space between the lower and upper units.

They is another level below you (lake level) which we share with our neighbors. However the dock is not shared. That is private property, please do not trespass. There is a boat launch down the street with easy access to the lake.

Interaction is primarily through the Airbnb app, where I am available to assist you. We can discuss specific interaction preferences on a case-by-case basis to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This ensures clear communication and flexibility, catering to your needs while providing privacy and convenience.

You will be staying in the ground level of our recently renovated, spacious, and light-filled three-story home. This area features a master bedroom with a sliding door, a living room with double French doors as the front entrance, and large windows with high ceilings for plenty of natural light. No shared spaces.

Outside the French doors, you'll find a generous bricked patio and walking path leading to your expansive front yard balcony area. This space includes a unique garden dome and a sizable lawn.

The entire level, including the dome, is exclusively yours. While occasional lawn maintenance may occur, you will be notified in advance. For your convenience, trash can be disposed of in the grey bins opposite the dome.

Important House Rules
Supervision Required: The backyard opens to the lake and nature; please supervise children at all times.
There is a dock on the lower level, nearest the water. This does not belong to us and is private property. Do not trespass please.

No Parties or Events: Parties and events are strictly prohibited. Violation will result in immediate cancellation without refund.

Septic System: Only flush toilet paper. A fee will be assessed for any clogs.

No Smoking or Pets: Smoking and pets are not allowed. No exceptions.

Check-In/Out: Check-in after 4 PM; check-out by 10 AM. Self-check-in with Smart Lock.

No Shoes Indoors: This is a no-shoes house. A $10 fee will be charged per carpet/rug stain.

Additional Rules
Noise: Keep noise to a minimum after 10 PM. Violations may result in police involvement and termination of your reservation.

No Mailing Packages: Do not mail packages to the home.
Respect the Community: Avoid excessive guests and loud noise.

Penalties
Stolen Towels: $10 per towel.
Smoking in Home: $150.
Lost Keys: $50.
Late Checkout: $75 without consent.
Excessive Guests: $50 per guest.
Excessive Cleaning: $150 if the place is left filthy.

- "Indiana Dunes was our last stop of touring 4 national parks and this space was the perfect size for my mom & I. Elena is a responsive, thoughtful host and her home is inviting and bright. It has all your basics: Brita filtered water, assortment of coffee/teas, condiments (oil/butter/spices/sauces/etc), new pots/pans/utensils/dishes, sharp knives, and some lovely surprise amenities like a picnic basket, s'mores maker, & binoculars. We especially appreciated the thoughtful curation of puzzles/games + use of green cleaning products like Dr. Bronners & Seventh Generation. There are also luggage racks which are such a nice detail for added convenience. Though we didn't use it, there's a desk positioned in a good sized nook should you need to work remotely. The fire pit + gas grill are steps away from the unit. The inflatable jacuzzi was great for relaxing after a day out. The dome is fun but we didn't spend much time there because of mosquitos... there was insect repellent available though! The bed + pull-out were both comfortable with soft linens. It wasn't an issue for us but for lighter sleepers, note the furnace is right next to the bedroom and centrally controlled so having earplugs/phones could easily support a better night's rest. It's easy to see Elena has put much thought + care into making this a wonderful home away from home. She also gave great recommendations to local events like farmers markets. If visiting Valparaiso or nearby, I highly recommend her place!"

May 2026 - September 2026, all rentals INCLUDE the use of the private pier and red 2018 18ft Sun Tracker pontoon with a 60hp engine!! Fuel for the pontoon and lifejackets for each guest are also included. Guests that plan on using the pontoon, must sign boat rental agreement and boater safety instructions. We cannot guarantee rentals in March 2026, April 2026 & October 2026 will include the pontoon. It depends on the weather and water temperature.

Leah's Lakehouse offers a breathtaking view of Flint Lake from the house, deck, patio and yard. With depths as deep as 75 feet, this 90 acre, all natural, spring fed lake offers phenomenal fishing year round!

Being recently remodeled and renovated, you will experience all the modern conveniences of a new home coupled with the quaint charm of a country lakehouse.

Fisherman come from all over to fish Flint Lake. The fishing, especially bass fishing, has been incredible this season. There are also northern, perch, catfish and other fish in the lake.

** THE HOUSE CAN ONLY HOLD 6 PEOPLE TOTAL. Parties, family gatherings, additional family members and additional friends are not allowed if it means more than 6 people will be at house. This includes “just for the day” or “just for a few hours.”

** Don’t forgot to bring your beach towels!

** If you plan on fishing from the yard or pontoon, make sure you have an Indiana fishing license!

** If you are staying more than a couple day, we will come by early in the morning to check/fill the gas tank (we will not disturb you). DO NOT fill the gas tank.

** Due to the pontoon, paddle boards, kayaks, etc the yards are equipped with two security cameras.

** If you are unsure if your rental includes the use of the pontoon, please send me a message. March, April and October rentals will include the pontoon WEATHER PERMITTING. If it is below freezing or there is snow in the forecast, the pontoon CANNOT be in the water.

- "We enjoyed this simple yet very comfy 2 bedroom Lakehouse that includes pontoon. On hot days we fished and floated in lovely Flint lake, on rainy days we enjoyed breweries, taphouses, giftshops, and college campus that Valparaiso has to offer. The frontage has a mud bottom so for swimming you want to jump off the pontoon and be comfortable in life jackets or noodles. Boat is in great shape and house AC and wifi were excellent when needed. Kayaks and paddle boards a big hit for my 11 year old twins. Highly recommend this rental for an easy Lakehouse getaway."
