This space is perfect for families & friends who want to relax or adventure outdoors!

Convenience meets relaxation and historic charm! This adorable vacation rental allows guests the choice of cooking their own meal in a fully stocked kitchen, or simply walking to any of the wonderful local restaurants to experience a variety of delicious cuisines.

This unit is an apartment, within a historic home, which hosts two other long-term tenants. After entering a shared foyer and going up a set of curved stairs, guests will have their own dedicated space completely. The only other shared area is the basement laundry room. The apartment itself (bedrooms, kitchen, living areas, etc) is yours completely and is not shared with anyone outside of your group. Keyless entry allows an easy self-check-in, and you will be greeted with a manual of suggestions for local restaurants and fun things to do nearby.

The house itself was built in 1861 and has gone through numerous updates throughout the last 150+ years; the latest update being in 2020.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
The home sleeps up to 6 people in the following areas:
-Master Bedroom: 2 people (King bed)
-Guest Bedroom: 2 people (Queen bed)
-Living Room: 2 People (fold-out queen 4" foam mattress)

BATHROOMS:
There is one full bathroom (with a tub).

KITCHEN:
The kitchen includes a stainless-steel sink, quartz counter tops, a peninsula with barstool seating for 2, a kitchen table and 4 chairs, fridge and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, and blender. Dishware and spices/cooking oils are provided, along with coffee, tea, and sweeteners.

DESKS/WORK AREAS:
A desk is available for work; guests would simply need to bring their own computer to plug in. WiFi is provided.

TECHNOLOGY:
--A smart TV is provided with access to Netflix/Hulu, etc.
--Wifi is provided.
--The house has a boiler heating system with radiators throughout. Window AC units are controlled by you. If you do not want to utilize the devices, you can simply turn them off.
--A washer/dryer is available for your use (free) in the basement.

HEATING/COOLING
The house is on a boiler system with radiators for heat during the cooler months. There are 3 portable AC window units, for cooling during warmer months, along with 3 portable room fans.

PARKING:
Free street parking is plentiful in front/on the side of the house.

SAFETY NOTES:
1. This home is NOT baby-proofed. (We do not have outlet blockers, no furniture is strapped to walls, stairs do not have gates, there are no safety locks on cabinets, etc.) Some windows are low to the ground where curious kids could easily get out. Children must be accompanied by adults at all times, and guests are responsible for the safety of their children.
2. The stairs are steep (the house was built in 1861!). Guests must climb a full flight of stairs to get into the unit—Those who are not able bodied will NOT be able to easily navigate the home; although the house was updated in 2020, the age of the house does not render it handicap equipped.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
While I am happy to welcome guests of all backgrounds, I will only be accepting booking requests from:

--AirBnB users who are "verified" and who already have multiple positive reviews from other hosts. (A fully refundable $500 security deposit is required from guests who have no reviews. The $500 is returned once the cleaning crew confirms there are no damages, and the apartment is in good condition.)
--Renters that are above the age of 25.
--Renters who are NOT bringing pets. No pets allowed.
--A maximum of 6 guests per reservation. Extra guests are not allowed.
—I value my relationship with my neighbors and fellow tenants, so events/gathering/parties are not to be held by guests. In order to keep the unit in excellent condition for future guests, I am firm on these rules. I apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

While I do tend to be a “hands off” hosts, please note that I will also be in the lower unit during your stay.

--Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions on the morning of their scheduled arrival. All of this will be communicated through AirBnB messenger.
--A manual with our favorite local attractions will be provided. Please let me know if you’d like this in advance. I have tons of recommendations and love to support the best local businesses.
--Please note that Valparaiso is on Central Standard Time (CST), the same as Chicago. Check-in is between 4 and 7 p.m.; check-out is at 10 a.m. (unless other arrangements have been made with me).

May 2026 - September 2026, all rentals INCLUDE the use of the private pier and red 2018 18ft Sun Tracker pontoon with a 60hp engine!! Fuel for the pontoon and lifejackets for each guest are also included. Guests that plan on using the pontoon, must sign boat rental agreement and boater safety instructions. We cannot guarantee rentals in March 2026, April 2026 & October 2026 will include the pontoon. It depends on the weather and water temperature.

Leah's Lakehouse offers a breathtaking view of Flint Lake from the house, deck, patio and yard. With depths as deep as 75 feet, this 90 acre, all natural, spring fed lake offers phenomenal fishing year round!

Fisherman come from all over to fish Flint Lake. The fishing, especially bass fishing, has been incredible this season. There are also northern, perch, catfish and other fish in the lake.

** THE HOUSE CAN ONLY HOLD 6 PEOPLE TOTAL. Parties, family gatherings, additional family members and additional friends are not allowed if it means more than 6 people will be at house. This includes “just for the day” or “just for a few hours.”

** Don’t forgot to bring your beach towels!

** If you plan on fishing from the yard or pontoon, make sure you have an Indiana fishing license!

** If you are staying more than a couple day, we will come by early in the morning to check/fill the gas tank (we will not disturb you). DO NOT fill the gas tank.

** Due to the pontoon, paddle boards, kayaks, etc the yards are equipped with two security cameras.

** If you are unsure if your rental includes the use of the pontoon, please send me a message. March, April and October rentals will include the pontoon WEATHER PERMITTING. If it is below freezing or there is snow in the forecast, the pontoon CANNOT be in the water.

On hot days we fished and floated in lovely Flint lake, on rainy days we enjoyed breweries, taphouses, giftshops, and college campus that Valparaiso has to offer. The frontage has a mud bottom so for swimming you want to jump off the pontoon and be comfortable in life jackets or noodles. Boat is in great shape and house AC and wifi were excellent when needed. Kayaks and paddle boards a big hit for my 11 year old twins. Highly recommend this rental for an easy Lakehouse getaway."

This perfect 3-bedroom home is walking distance to fabulous restaurants, local shops, antique store, breweries and wineries. There are multiple free parking spots off the main street to this property. Ramp to back entrance of home.

The property is a newer renovation of an older house, and has been very nicely done, with all modern amenities, quality fixtures etc. The kitchen had everything we needed for a large family dinner, which we grilled on the deck. The house is located on a quiet residential street, but is close to downtown and another close-by commercial area. There are parks nearby and Valpo has a lot going on for all ages. The large yard includes a fire pit, a kid's play structure and easy parking for several cars. The hot tub, which we used quite a bit, is attached to the deck. The chickens, far at the back of the yard, were great fun for the kids, and Jo delivered a dozen of their fresh eggs. (For those that might be concerned with noise, the chickens were totally unobtrusive.) Jo was great with communication and quickly answered any questions we had. The Valpo location provides easy access to Indiana Dunes (we recommend the National Park side), to Chicago, and we had a great all-day visit to the nearby Lake County Fair - a truly midwestern fair with all the animals, contests, rides etc. Downtown Valpo has lots of nice shops and restaurants and various seasonal activities. Overall - we had a great stay and will definitely stay again if we are back in the area with our (three generation) group."

Parking is free but first-come/first-served around downtown. However, guests will be provided a parking pass upon check in allowing 1 vehicle to be parked downtown in any of the 6 designated parking lots (2 of which are only 600’ from the unit). To access this unit, guests will use a shared exterior entrance off Lincolnway. Once inside the building, there will be a keyless entry code to the unit with the code provided the morning of your scheduled arrival. The entire apartment is all yours!

This unit is a garden (lower level/basement) apartment, within a historic home, which also hosts other long-term tenants and other travelers. After entering a shared side porch, inputting an entry code and going downstairs, guests will have their own dedicated space. The only other shared areas are the outdoors and the laundry room. The apartment itself (bedroom, kitchen, living area, etc.) is yours completely and is not shared with anyone outside of your group. Keyless entry allows an easy self check-in, and you will be greeted with a manual of suggestions for local restaurants and fun things to do nearby.

*Please note: This lower-level apartment contains low ceiling areas and low door frames. Guests over 5' 9" will need to be mindful of the low living room soffit (see pic) and low door frames. The house has a boiler heating system with radiators. Because this unit is a garden level unit, it rarely gets too warm, or too cool. Regardless, an AC window unit is available and controlled by you, along and portable fans for warmer months. An electric faux fireplace heater and another portable space heaters are available if needed during cooler months. Dehumidifiers are also on site.

PARKING:
Free street parking is plentiful in front of and on the side of the house, as well as the back driveway. It is best to park in the back driveway as it is closest to the entrance to the garden apartment. Only 1 guest car may park in the back driveway.

Beacons' Nest is a private guest house tucked behind the main home on a shared property. While the space is fully self-contained and private, the backyard is shared, and guests from the front house may also be enjoying the outdoor amenities. You may occasionally cross paths, especially around the firepit or lawn areas.
This setup works wonderfully for families or friends visiting Valparaiso together, or those who appreciate community-minded hospitality in a peaceful neighborhood setting.

This apartment (fully updated in 2025) sits among four other private units, all under the same roof of a historic home. Note that this apartment has its own private entrance, and everything shown in the photos for the listing is your own private space. You will have your own living area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom--these areas are not shared with other guests. The only area shared with other guests is the outdoor area (foyer, picnic tables, backyard/front yard, front porch, bags/cornhole game, laundry room).

CHECK-IN INFO:
--Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions around 10 AM (CST) on the morning of their scheduled arrival. All of this will be communicated through messenger.
--A manual with our favorite local attractions will be provided.
--Please note that Valparaiso is on Central Standard Time (CST), the same as Chicago. Check-in is between 4 and 9 p.m.; check-out is at 10 a.m. (unless other arrangements have been made with us).
--Our cancellation policy is moderate. That being said, if you do need to cancel your reservation within 5 days of your booking and we are able to re-book your days with another guest, we will gladly refund you for the amount that we’re able to recoup by new guests. (Some platforms charge service fees that we’re not responsible for—which will be their discretion to refund you.)

Other things to note
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
The apartment sleeps a maximum of four people in the following areas:
-Master Bedroom: 2 people (Queen bed & ceiling fan.)
-Two twin beds in second bedroom: 2 people (Oscillating Fan. Please note: This bedroom has sloped ceilings, so is best suited for children. While it can accommodate adults, the ceiling height is low, and so all guests will need to be mindful of their heads.

BATHROOMS:
-There is one full bathroom with a tub and vanity. It is equipped with fresh towels, rags, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap, and a hair dryer.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen includes a sink, quartz counter tops, a kitchen table and 4 chairs, a fridge and freezer, an electric stove/oven, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, hand mixer, and blender. Basic dishware, bakeware, stovetop ware, and silverware are provided, ground coffee, some form of creamer and sweetener, along with salt and pepper. We also provide some form of cooking oil (such as canola, olive, vegetable, etc) OR cooking spray. Brands provided depend on what's in stock at local stores, so if you have specific brand/flavor preferences for these items, please feel free to bring your own. :)

DESKS/WORK AREAS:
While this particular apartment does not have its own private desk, a shared desk is available in the foyer (prior to entering your unit). Simply bring your own computer; WiFi is provided.

TECHNOLOGY:
--We hope you choose to enjoy the outdoors and use your time here to disconnect and recharge, but a large-screen smart TV is also provided in the living room. Simply log into any one of your own subscription accounts (Netflix/Hulu/etc) for streaming.
--A washer/dryer is available for your use in the basement. (Shared space with other guests.)

Shared Laundry Access:
Guests may use the shared washer and dryer between 4 PM and 10 AM. Please note the laundry is reserved for our cleaning team between 10 AM and 4 PM.

PARKING:
There is free street parking in front of the home. Please note that parking is only allowed on the WEST side of the street (the side opposite of the home), but we've never had any issues finding a spot nearby. :)

OUTDOOR AREAS:
Shared Outdoor Areas: There is also a backyard firepit with 8 chairs, a cornhole/bags set, as well as three wooden picnic tables surrounded by string lights for any guests to use. Please note that you may see renters of other apartments utilizing these outdoor areas. While we used to supply firewood, it attracted rodents--and so we now ask that guests bring their own firewood if they'd like to have a bonfire. We also ask that guests be mindful of their volume, as many of the bedrooms in the apartments face the back of the home. Sound machines are provided in every sleeping area, and we do ask that guests follow quiet hours as to not to disturb other travelers. :)

SAFETY NOTES:
1. The apartment is NOT baby-proofed. (We do not have outlet blockers, no furniture is strapped to walls, there are no safety locks on cabinets, etc.) Children must be accompanied by adults at all times; guests are responsible for the safety of their children.
2. There are historic, steep steps up to this second floor apartment.
3. We always remind guests to check themselves for ticks after spending time outdoors. Our property is sprayed monthly (inside and out) for bugs, but given the age of the home and the surroundings, you may see a spider or two while here. This is not a matter of not being clean—it’s simply a matter of renting in a historic home. :)

Whether you want to cook a meal in the kitchen, roast a s'more above the (shared) firepit in the backyard, or venture downtown, you'll never find a shortage of things to do. This is the perfect getaway for up to 20 people who want to relax or adventure in Northwest Indiana!

This fully updated historic home (renovated in 2025) is designed to comfortably host up to 20 guests across five separate units, all under one roof. Each unit is a self-contained apartment with its own private entrance, as well as a dedicated living space, kitchen, bedroom(s), and bathroom—perfect for multiple families or groups traveling together who want to stay under the same roof while still enjoying their privacy.

All interior spaces shown in the photos are private to each group, with no shared indoor areas between units. However, guests are welcome to enjoy the shared outdoor amenities, including picnic tables, a backyard and front yard, lawn games, and a shared laundry room.

CHECK-IN INFO:
--Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions around 10 AM (CST) on the morning of their scheduled arrival. All of this will be communicated through messenger.
--A manual with our favorite local attractions will be provided.
--Please note that Valparaiso is on Central Standard Time (CST), the same as Chicago. Check-in is between 4 and 9 p.m.; check-out is at 10 a.m. (unless other arrangements have been made with us).
--Our cancellation policy is moderate. That being said, if you do need to cancel your reservation within 5 days of your booking and we are able to re-book your days with another guest, we will gladly refund you for the amount that we’re able to recoup by new guests. (Some platforms charge service fees that we’re not responsible for—which will be their discretion to refund you.)

**Please note that due to the age of his home, this is a slightly quirky set up with tight quarters. While we typically provide sleeper sofas in our properties, the narrow doorway in this unit did not allow for a deep couch to fit through. Groups with more than two guests will need to move the coffee table into the kitchen or hallway before setting up the provided floor mattress and linens.

TECHNOLOGY:
--We hope you choose to enjoy the outdoors and use your time here to disconnect and recharge, but a large-screen smart TV is also provided in each of the living rooms. Simply log into any one of your own subscription accounts (Netflix/Hulu/etc) for streaming.
--A washer/dryer is available for your use in the basement.

Shared Laundry Access:
Guests may use the shared washer and dryer between 4 PM and 10 AM. Please note the laundry is reserved for our cleaning team between 10 AM and 4 PM.

PARKING:
-There is designated gravel parking for up to two vehicles located behind the garage (accessed through the alleyway behind the home).
-If you're bringing more than two cars, there is free street parking in front of the home.
**Please note that parking is only allowed on the WEST side of the street (the side opposite of the home), but we've never had any issues finding a spot nearby. :)

OUTDOOR AREAS:
There is also a backyard firepit with 8 chairs, a cornhole/bags set, as well as three wooden picnic tables surrounded by string lights for any guests to use. While we used to supply firewood, it attracted rodents--and so we now ask that guests bring their own firewood if they'd like to have a bonfire. We also ask that guests be mindful of their volume and to follow quiet hours as to not to disturb our neighbors. :)

SAFETY NOTES:
1. The apartment is NOT baby-proofed. (We do not have outlet blockers, no furniture is strapped to walls, there are no safety locks on cabinets, etc.) Children must be accompanied by adults at all times; guests are responsible for the safety of their children.
2. There are historic, steep steps up to this second floor apartment.
3. We always remind guests to check themselves for ticks after spending time outdoors. Our property is sprayed monthly (inside and out) for bugs, but given the age of the home and the surroundings, you may see a spider or two while here. This is not a matter of not being clean—it’s simply a matter of renting in a historic home. :)

The landing houses a coffee bar w/coffee makings, plates, glasses, utensils + microwave and minifridge. In the bath are lots of fluffy towels, shampoo, etc. The bedroom, with comfy queen bed, extra pillows/blanket, has a table and chairs for dining, work. Large windows let in lots of sunlight. Dark, heavy curtains, when pulled shut out light for undisturbed sleep.

As a guest, you and your family will enjoy the comforts of home with 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, one bathroom, a kitchen table and four chairs, a desk and chair, and a sectional. One bed has a pillow top; the other bed has a memory foam mattress. There are fans, alarm clocks, radio, extra pillows, two extra folding chairs for eating, blankets, yoga mat, laundry basket, comforters, luggage racks, baby bouncer, pack and play (no top sheet just bottom sheet and blanket), baby toys, baby gate, personal and bathroom amenities and more. There are a variety of board games, books, movies, and toys. We have 65 inches smart tv to watch Netflix, Hulu, Prime video, Pluto, and more!. Free wifi. We provide water, hot tea, and coffee. Breakfast (free) options may include one of following: granola or fruit bar, poptart biscuit cookie or oatmeal. There is a sitting area to relax and read a book. If you don't finish your book, please take it home. A microwave, coffee maker, dishes, toaster oven, condiments, toaster, silverware, can / bottle opener, a variety of flavored creamers, salt/ pepper, coffee to go cups, sweeteners, and sugar are provided. There is not a kitchen in the basement. However, if you need something to be heated in the oven, I would be happy to warm up your food.

We offer a private cottage on the grounds of Lake O the Woods Club. Cottage has Queen size bed, air conditioning, heater, refrigerator, microwave, TV, coffee maker, work/dining area, private deck and porta-potty. Payment of club daily grounds fee ($30-$60) is mandatory. Pricing on club website. There is no running water in the cottage. Bathrooms, showers, hot tub, sauna and swimming pool are available at the clubhouse and pool area . The cottage is sanitized after every rental.

The space
The cottage is in a family orientated nudist community. We practice non-sexual social nudity. Appropriate behavior is required at all times. Grounds fees must be paid to the club to stay at the cottage. See Lake O the Woods Club website for more information. If you arrive after gatekeeping is closed, we can arrange after hours ground fee payment. Please communicate your ETA so I can be available to show you the cottage. Please do not plan to arrive after 10pm.

Welcome to Grand Oaks, a lovely studio apartment nestled on a serene, wooded lot. This Studio has its own entrance, a kitchenette, full size murphy bed that can be tucked away during the day. A large bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower. This is a perfect retreat to relax, unwind, and take in the views of nature and woodland animals.
Only 5 minutes from our historic down town with an abundance of restaurants, shopping, coffee houses, tap rooms and so much more.

The space
"Old World, Cozy and comfortable space that is very quiet" The sitting area has an electric fireplace and cable TV. Kitchenette has a mini frig(with waters), microwave and keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffee and tea. A full size Murphy bed pulls down when ready. The large bathroom has a whirlpool tub and shower.A small work area is great for a lap top or just writing notes. There is a closet and dresser to store clothes. We have added extra pillows, throws and a sound machine to make you feel right at home.

For some reason a guest has complained about the house having mold. You need to know that we have checked thoroughly. We found no mold. The house is practically new. It was not just remodeled, it was RE BUILT.
We ask you to please turn the fan on when you shower downstairs, to prevent any moisture. The house is safe. We have had no other complaints, and we will do absolutely anything to keep you comfortable and safe when you visit. We want you to feel comfortable and safe.

NOTE ON BEDS:
There is one folding crib in Master bedroom.
Bedroom 2 and 3 have BUNK BEDS, with a lower full size bed (2 small adults) and a single size upper bed (best for a child).
Single beds described in "common area" are cots with Comfortable luxury memory foam matresses. No other way to describe them. They are folded and available in bedrooms 2 and 3.
One small adult may sleep on the couch, if needed.
KEEP IN MIND: In my view, house is more comfortable for up to 9 people (and a baby). It can sleep up to 10 people, but you will not be as comfortable.
Extra sheets, linens and towels are available in linen closet, downstairs bathroom.

The space
This is a newly renovated home with two bedrooms and 1 bathroom:

Guest access
The Guest House is located on the far back corner of the property. It’s a private space for guests.

Guests have access to the guest house. However access to the main house and pond are prohibited.

We kindly ask guests to remove shoes indoors and report any damage promptly so we can address it. Please treat the home and its contents with care—everything has been thoughtfully selected for your comfort and enjoyment.

Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located place. House is literally just 2 blocks walking distance to all restaurants and downtown boutique stores!!
Yet, you will enjoy peace, in a quiet and friendly street.

Valparaiso has a lot to offer, strategically located near the Indiana Dunes State Park and beaches, a prime vacationing spot, short distance to Chicago.

This is your chance for a great visit downtown Valpo!!

The space
This is a Vintage house remodeled with some modern touches. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. The main bedroom has a Queen size bed, and there is an inflatable twin mattress inside the closet. The second bedroom has a bunk bed, with a Full size on the bottom (it could sleep 2 small adults) and a Twin size bed on the top. There is a Foldable sofa bed and a cot, in case additional sleeping space is needed. All in all, it could sleep 5 or 6 people at the most.
One single bathroom. Towels are inside the wooden white cabinet.
Kitchen with Microwave, a 2 burner electric cook top (no oven), toasters (2), boiler, and a griddle stored in a lower cabinet.
Ther is NO dishwasher and NO washing machine here.
For laundry, we use The Ladybug, a Laundromat 2 minutes from the house (ON Calunet Ave. behind CVS).
There is front porch with chairs and a small table.

Unique home with one bedrooms, kitchen, living room, laundry, dining room, and 1.5 bathrooms. Outside dining and porch.

Couch ottomans can be pushed together to create a bed. Couch is extremely large and can easily sleep two.

Feel free to use our washer and dryer for your laundry.

We also have many card games for a fun night in!

Please note we have two ac window units, one in the living/dining space and another in the master bedroom.

Any guests bringing a pet must let us know ahead of time. We charge a pet fee of $25.

Some of our personal items are in the dining room buffet/dresser, dining room hutch, and hallway closet. These pieces are off limits.

Welcome to “Chalet Valpo”! A historic carriage house located minutes from the heart of Valpo that we have had completely gutted and made new for you! This home is a carriage house, it is located on our personal property. You have complete privacy during your stay in a private fenced in area. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

The space
When you first walk into your cozy stay you will be stepping right into the living area that also includes a laundry space. When you look to the right you will step into the kitchen and dining area. Going back into the living space you will find a staircase that brings you upstairs to an open concept, bedroom, and bathroom. Outside we offer a covered patio with two lounging chairs and side table to relax.

You will park on the street and from there walk down your private sidewalk to a gated entrance. After entering you will be in a private fenced area with a covered patio. You will then enter the front door and enjoy your cozy stay!
