This home has 50' of private Lake frontage accessed directly across road. Great for accessing the lake for Ice fishing, snowmobiling or ice skating. With 2 bedrooms, (3) Queen sized beds, large living room and a separate full arcade room, there's plenty of room for relaxing and enjoying family and friends. From the backyard deck you'll be able to enjoy your group relaxing by one of the the firepits (gas or wood) or grab a chair and watch the large variety of birds, frogs, turtles, ducks and more.

They provided everything we could need, kitchen was well equipped and there are even baskets of things you may have forgotten, and plenty of games. We especially enjoyed the coffee station and the game room. Our teens and 20-21 year olds all enjoyed the game room and we all fit on the big couch to watch movies. The view of the lake was beautiful. If we were staying for a week, we would want laundry machines, but the owners provided lots of towels, so we could probably make it work. Alsoit was convenient that we could park in the garage. The back yard, fire pit and new deck were very nice, though we didn't get to use them as it was too cold."

Located on the edge of the historic district, this neighborhood offers a charming and convenient location with access to local eateries and nightlife. We highly recommend checking out some of the amazing restaurants and breweries in the area, including the famous Bell's Brewery and Old Dog Tavern- a great spot to catch some local talent.
The unit is completely private, so you will have it all to yourself. Our apartment also features onsite coin operated laundry on the main level for your convenience. In addition to the vibrant local scene, you will also have endless opportunities for entertainment with sporting events, concerts, wine tastings, and more. And if you need to get around, Kalamazoo Metro Transit is available nearby, as well as Lyft, Uber, and local taxis for longer distances. The unit was super clean and comfortable, with newer kitchen appliances. We appreciated the washer/dryer present within the unit, and there were plenty of bathroom linens. The millpond was charming, and often had geese and ducks on it. The unit was very quiet, and we heard no one next door or above us. I agree with the previous review regarding the overwhelming smell of marijuana in the stairwell. Since cannabis use is legal in MI however, I'm not sure what the unit owners can be expected to do about it unless there is a no smoking policy within the building. The smell does not creep into the unit unless you leave the door open, which we avoided. The absence of kitchen linens is interesting because it simply forced us to use more paper towels, which I would think the owners would try to avoid. But these were small things, and did not detract from our overall good experience. We would stay there again without hesitation!"

~ABOUT THIS SPACE~
Welcome to our lake home on Long Lake in Portage, MI! This cozy retreat is just 15 minutes away from the vibrant city of Kalamazoo. Relax and unwind in our beautifully furnished home, complete with games, toys for kids, and a putting matt. Step outside to your private beach and sandy swim area. Cast a line off the end of the dock, fire up the grill, take the pontoon or kayaks for a cruise, or start a fire in the smokeless solo stove. We can't wait for your family to make memories here!
The open concept main floor features a fully stocked kitchen, spacious living room, and additional sun room complete with a reading nook and large dining table. The main floor bedroom features a king bed and includes a walk-out deck perfect for sipping coffee on in the morning. Bedroom #2 is located upstairs. This space features queen bunk beds and a very comfy futon that folds out into a full size bed. The house sleeps 8. The backyard features a large deck with plenty of seating, a private dock with pontoon (available for rent), and a small beach area perfect for the kiddos. The water is shallow and sandy, making this an ideal swim area for younger kids. You will also find a picnic table, a solo stove, and additional beach toys and rafts for your use. Firewood is stored onsite and can also be purchased for use.
~Other Things to Note~
This home in one of a kind. It was originally built in 1915 as a very small ice house, but has had many additions added over the past few decades. If you are a fisherman, you will find that the catch is plentiful on Long Lake. The kids frequently enjoy catching bluegill right off the end of the dock, so be sure to bring your poles and worms! There is also a volleyball net, beersbie game, and large floating water mat available for water fun in addition to sand toys and rafts.

Sam was incredibly responsive and went out of her way to ensure my stay went smoothly, even arranging the cleaning crew to expedite their work.Thoughtful touches throughout the house, like the wide variety of games available—even 420 games, though it's important to note that smoking isn't allowed on the property. The check-out instructions were very clear, making the departure process stress-free. I appreciated the ample closet space in the bedroom. The dreamy clawfoot bathtub in the downstairs bathroom was a definite highlight!A few minor details: the upstairs bathroom tub is peeling, and while there’s a slip mat, I did have a slip (which was on me). Also, there is no dishwasher, so be prepared to wash dishes by hand. The refrigerator needs a good deep clean. That said, I never memtioned these to Sam as she was so accommodating these things could have been missed rushing to get me in. Parking was a little tricky with fast-moving cars, and Sam explained the garage wasn’t available due to storage. Things that could have made the stay better: aTV in the downstairs bedroom, warmer blankets, covered awnings for the patios, and a door to go out to the deck instead of the side. 8.9 out of 10!"

Bathroom has old damaged cabinets, kitchen is partially newer but mainly original. Bathroom shower is incredibly tight and has a 2 foot high step in/out with no grab bar. Toilet area is even narrower than the shower. Had continual issues with all my devices staying connected to the WiFi. I finally gave up and used my data plan instead. TV is bolted down to the mantel I'm guessing so it can't fall off, but I wanted to connect my computer to it with a cable and couldn't. The fridge needs to be defrosted and it froze all My food ruining it. There is one remotely comfortable chair and the rest looks like office furniture. If more than 1 person is looking for a place to stay, this isn't it, it's too small especially if you have kids. Owner needs to add some floor lamps for an option of something other than bright LEDs overhead."

With a fully stocked kitchen, dedicated parking space, well lit exterior, three-season shared sun porch, access to washer/ dryer, and a prime location, it's well suited for longer stays. Enjoy what this 2-bedroom apartment has to offer.
There are three separate units in this house; two on the second floor and one on the first. This unit is on the second floor, where you will have your own 2 bedroom apartment with a full bath, living room, dining space, and full kitchen. This pleasant and tranquil space comfortably sleeps three with 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed. This space is perfect for a single person, couple, a small group of friends, or a small family. The second bedroom can be used as a study, or dedicated office space.
Many windows provide great natural light and a feeling of airiness. With steam heat and a minisplit AC, as well as plush comforters, throws, and ceiling fans, you will be able to tailor the environment for your comfort.
Enjoy the convenience of home, in the city. This apartment is located on the first residential block south of downtown. It's an easy walk to all major features around town, including shops and restaurants on the Kalamazoo Mall as well as theatres, hotels, and event centers. This is a great location for events at the Chenery, the Civic Theatre, Bronson Park, and a little further away, Miller Auditorium, and Bells Brewery to name a few.
Owners live nearby and are available by text or by phone but will leave you to your privacy. We are in and out of the building on a daily basis doing turnovers and updating the property, but will stay out of your way and will be as unobtursive as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out if we can make your stay more comfortable.

Recharge your batteries after a long day in your own bedroom, living area and bathroom. The house is located in a quiet, established neighborhood that is conveniently located to anything in Portage or Kalamazoo in under 20 minutes. There is a shared kitchen with updated appliances and all amenities from home.
Ideal spot for business travelers, digital nomads and others needing longer stays. We do not accommodate stays shorter than 30 days due to local ordinance.
The space
The house is shared with your host Lucy-- my Dad the co-host lives nearby. You have your own private room, bathroom and living area. There is a shared kitchen, dining room, bathroom and sitting room. Everything is situated on one floor with no stairs. Guests do not have access to the basement as it is just storage space. However, the basement may serve as a safety area in the event of a storm.
The only laundry in the house is accessible only via the private guest area. Your host has a strong preference to be allowed to use it -- especially for longer stays. I typically do laundry on Friday or Saturday mornings when I clean but am flexible. Please communicate whether use of the laundry is permitted and leave your door open when access is allowed.
I clean the common area once per week. Typically on Friday or Saturday morning. If you would like me to clean your sheets, and / or lightly clean your room when I clean the house and do laundry, please let me know.
About your host: I'm a bartender and spend about 35 hours a week outside of the house. I also run a podcast and weight loss coaching business. I'm a world traveller and love food! Sundays are my jam and you'll find me in zen state!

The only laundry in the house is accessible only via the private guest area. Your host has a strong preference to be allowed to use it -- especially for longer stays. I typically do laundry on Friday or Saturday mornings when I clean but am flexible. Please communicate whether use of the laundry is permitted and leave your door open when access is allowed.
Guests may use any space in the house except for my bedroom. My office may be used, but if I need it I have priority. My iMac has a guest setting that functions like the library where it erases all data after each use. The house has the strongest internet sold for the address -- just under fiber speeds.
There is ample parking. When choosing a spot, please leave access to the garage as I use it to charge my car.
During your stay
I am an introvert and tend to be fairly quiet, but am also warm to people and happy to accommodate your preferred level of interaction. If you like a home cooked meal, I'm your girl! :). I love all things food and travel!

I do not have frequent guests and overnight guests are very rare. My Dad, who is the other co-host, and some family who live locally swing by on occasion for brief visits. My Dad sometimes drops off his recycling and checks the mail. Overall house vibe is quiet and professional.

Just 15 minutes from downtown Kalamazoo. Breweries, fine dining and more! Great location for a business trip with Pfizer, Stryker, and Bronson.
The space
Take a short walk down the stone path, on the right side of the house, up 4 stairs to your own private deck and studio loft entrance. Once inside the cozy 325 sq. foot studio, you will see a queen size bed on the main floor, a full size bed in the loft, a full bath behind the barn door, a couch and tv, and a kitchenette with a medium sized refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker (different than what is pictured but is still capable of brewing k-cups and drip coffee; k-cups and ground coffee provided).
Behind the rental is a canal that connects to the waterway leading out to the main lake. There are 3 kayaks (1 tandem and 2 singles) and life jackets available for use during your stay
Note: This is a shared property. The rental space is about 110ft away, and separate from, our living quarters. We are friendly and keep to ourselves. However, if you need something, we are more than happy to be of assistance and to do what we can to help you have a relaxing stay

Quiet Neighborhood
The space
Newly renovated ranch style duplex unit is conveniently located near the freeways for quick access to the local colleges and universities, local businesses, shopping and dining. Weather your stay is for business or pleasure, you will enjoy the privacy and tranquil environment. The main living area faces the back yard where there are three large maple trees that offer plenty of shade during hot sunny days. The backyard is fenced in for added privacy and security. There is also a fire pit in the back yard for a late evening marshmallow roast or just to relax by an open fire with friends and cold beverages. There's 2200 square feet of living area that includes the basement, which is 1/3 finished. The basement has an egress window that allows for additional sleeping space if needed. There is also a washer and dryer available for guest staying 5 or more nights.

Guest will have access to the entire unit and the back yard. Currently, there will be no access to the garage, but driveway parking is available as well as the parking space that is located on the right side of the driveway. During the summer months, you and/or your guest can also park on the street in front of the house. There is a city ordinance that prohibits street parking beginning November 1st through April 15, from 2am till 6am.

You won't find another place that offers the ability for your group to swim, nature or bird watch, catch frogs or turtles, swim, fish or relax, like this home allows. We've set up the space so even if there's rain in the forecast, you'll have something to enjoy inside of the home. We're 12 mins from downtown Kalamazoo, 5 mins from I-94 and halfway between Detroit & Chicago.

Welcome to our lake cottage on Long Lake in Portage, MI! This cozy retreat is just 15 minutes away from the vibrant city of Kalamazoo. Relax and unwind in our beautifully furnished home, complete with games, toys for kids, and a putting mat. Step outside to your private beach and sandy swim area. The space
The open concept main floor features a fully stocked kitchen, spacious living room, and additional sun room complete with a reading nook and large dining table. The main floor bedroom features a king bed and includes a walk-out deck perfect for sipping coffee on in the morning. Bedroom #2 is located upstairs. This space features queen bunk beds and a futon that folds out into a full size bed. The backyard features a large deck with plenty of seating, a private dock with pontoon (available for rent), and a small beach area perfect for the kiddos. The water is shallow and sandy, making this an ideal swim area for younger kids. You will also find a picnic table, a solo stove, and additional beach toys and rafts for your use. This 100 year old home offers a true Michigan lake cottage vibe, perfect for your family's summer getaway.
Other things to note
This home in one of a kind. It was originally built in 1915 as a very small ice house, but has had many additions added over the past few decades. As a result, it does have some quirks and offers that true cottage feel. If you are a fisherman, you will find that the catch is plentiful on Long Lake. The kids frequently enjoy catching bluegill right off the end of the dock, so be sure to bring your poles and worms! There is also a volleyball net, beersbie game, and large floating water mat available for water fun in addition to sand toys and rafts.

The Space:
The spacious living area features a large living room and windows out to the lake views. Unwind out on the deck or inside on the couches, or watch your favorite shows and sports on the 75" flat-screen.
The kitchen is fully-equipped, offering modern appliances, ample counter space, and all the essential cookware to cook or grill out. Enjoy meals out on the furnished deck with seating for everyone (5 person table + picnic table) and enjoy the serene lake views as your backdrop.
Outdoor Space:
Step out onto the large deck and take in the captivating scenery over the 50 feet of sandy shoreline on Austin Lake. Take in the sun on the deck, the private dock or take out the kayaks and canoe to explore or do some large mouth bass / blue gill fishing.

Please use caution when traversing the carpeted stairs - some steps going upstairs are slightly uneven and shorter than the typical. Always use handrails and assist with children. Stairs may be marked with tape as a reminder in an extra abundance of caution for you/guests safety until they are replaced
There may (on rare instances) be very limited in-progress house remodeling/repair projects (primarily siding/outside) taking place along with some updating inside the home. We appreciate your understanding while we continue to make updates and improvements!

This living room has a 46” Apple TV and kitchenette with a midsize fridge, microwave, kuerig coffee maker, 1,000 sq feet of deck with gas and charcoal grill with smoker, outdoor dining area, seating, fire pit.
