Manatees, birds, we’ve seen a small gator in the past and this time, a lost dolphin. Also, the jumping, slapping fish are mullet and are very entertaining- especially when they almost land in your kayak. The canals are so peaceful and the river is beautiful. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to not have to eat out all the time. The charcoal grill is great for cooking fish from Trader Bay and steaks. The Italian restaurant at the corner is intimate and very good and now Boston style lobster rolls at the Hernando marina will be a must. Note that the Winn Dixie sells lunch meat that they roast there and get the Cuban bread and the deli pickles for sandwiches better than subway. Our kids have grown up coming to this river and kayaking. Every minute is peaceful and beautiful even during summer showers and we will keep coming back every year!"

You will find our house has a rustic feel with a modern touch. There is plenty of space with compact bedding, a fully equipped kitchen (with a vita-mix blender, espresso maker, waffle maker, crockpot, and flat top griddle- perfect for pancake breakfast), cable TV, Wi-Fi, a balcony and a deck.

Being located directly on the river allows you the leisure to just hang out with friends and family & provides direct access to the river.

We love manatees. We love mermaids. We love nature.

Once we found this haven, we fell in love and just had to create a retreat to share with you and your loved ones. Please take care of the house, the river, and the wildlife, and enjoy these precious moments of downtime and while we have cable and Wi-Fi, we recommend you take this time to unplug and reconnect with each another and Mother Nature.

Relax on the deck watching the wide variety of fish, manatees and kayakers year-round. If you’re feeling adventurous, our dock provides easy access into the 72-degree water. Life jackets, kayaks and snorkel gear are provided.

Be safe, the swift 3 mile/hour current can be challenging! Always bring a life jacket and whistle while kayaking on the river; it's the law.

We promise to strive to make this the most special place and getaway for you. If there is anything we can do to enhance your stay, please let us know.

We are always making upgrades and improvements, so you have the best experience possible. I bought this house because my love for the river. Our goal is to share this experience with vacation rental community and we want you to have an awesome time, but we do have some rules that must be followed to keep this part of the river and community pristine and tranquil.

This is a small residential neighborhood and letting the residents enjoy the peace and quiet of the river is important to us. If you are planning a large gathering or party, please choose a house down river. If the neighbors call because of noise, you may be asked to leave the property. If you park in the street your car will be towed. Also do not leave on exterior flood lights as they are very bright and keep the neighbors up.

At River Run Retreat our guests privacy is a top priority. In full disclosure we do have outdoor ring cameras. 2 on the pole at the driveway. 1 facing the street and 1 facing the house. 1 ring camera is on the shed facing the kayaks. 1 ring doorbell camera is at the door facing the river. This camera will not call anyone if the button is pressed. These cameras are not monitored and are only in place for security and safety. Ring stickers are placed on windows around the property.

Spring Hill Home Private Pool, 9 Mi to Beach! is located in Spring Hill, just 22 miles from Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park and 1.9 miles from Weeki Wachee Springs. This vacation home offers accommodations with a terrace. There's an outdoor pool and guests have access to free Wifi and parking on-site. MANATEE COVE Swim and paddle with the manatees! WATERFRONT attached apartment right on the main Weeki Wachee River -- not a canal! Large balcony, private entrance. This is a very rare 1/2 acre property with 130' of waterfront offering uninterrupted views. The guest suite has about 1200 square feet under cover including the 300 sq. foot balcony. Charming second story suite with a full kitchen and a wonderful river panorama. Laundry in lower area. The water from the Weeki Wachee magnitude one spring is lovely and clean and stays at 72 to 74 year round. While most of the manatees are in the river from December to April guests spotted at least one almost every day in the summer. The water is shallow and sandy immediately in front of the house so it is safe for kids. You can wade in directly from the dock and play on a large sandbar. One bedroom has a queen bed the other a double. Eating areas on the balcony or inside. Nearby are excellent hiking trails if you want to take a break from the water. Kayaks provided (3 singles, 1 junior, kayaks my vary. Rentals available nearby). Towels provided. All bedding is brand new. There is also a fenced yard to enjoy and plenty of parking( which is shared with the adjoining unit) with a gate for security. Fishing charters, kayak rentals and boat rentals nearby. Also lots of restaurants from fish fry chow down to finer dining. The BBQ and fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishes and the kitchen has everything you need to cook in your Manatee Cove vacation home.



Other things to note:

LATE CHECK-OUTS & EARLY CHECK-INS: Check-in time is 4PM and checkout time is 11AM. Door codes do not activate until set check-in time. Early access will not be provided without prior approval. Guests who check-in early or checkout past checkout time will charged the additional fee of $50/hr.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT: A damage deposit of $100 is required at time of booking. This is collected by credit card. Your deposit will be refunded in full by credit card, subject to an inspection of the property.

SECURITY CAMERA: There is a security camera facing the driveway that will be on during your stay. Any pets or extra guests seen on property is subject to a charge.

- "This place checks ALL the boxes! We will definitely be back!" - "The house and location were amazing. The only areas that could use attention are as follows… 1) shade on the back porch- I understand that this has already been addressed 2). If you are in the downstairs bedroom there is a lot of foot step noise from the apt, above. 3) Sub floor in the bedroom doorway is soft causing the ceramic tile to flex. 4) Paddle toys…kayaks and paddle board could use some updating. Overall, it was a spectacular spot and a great house. We already book a week for next year. Thank you!"

- "I was very pleased with this home. It's homey, comfortable, and has everything you need. They are plenty of towels and the kitchen is fully equipped with small appliances, utensils and spices. They even have a griddle for pancakes. Dawn, the host, responds quickly to messages and was very understanding when we had to stay a little bit past check out due to car issues which, we greatly appreciated since we were already so stressed and had nowhere else to go and didn't know what to do. The only things I would suggest adding to the home is a tandem kayak since, probably most visitors are couples, and motion-activated lights to the stairs since, at night there are no city lights outside the windows and it's pitch black. Also, while the TVs have apps, they're not actually connected to any accounts."

- "This Flamingo themed house is adorable. They did a fantastic job at decorating and supplying the house with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The location is great. Just a quick paddle to the crystal river. We had a dolphin swim by our deck one morning and even had a mama and baby manatee come down by us too. The outside porch was our favorite. No bugs could come in the screened area. They had lots of options for boats that we used everyday. The kitchen is well stocked and even had games and books for our use. It's fun to explore the roads that wind along beside the canals and roll past all the interesting houses, or bike to the Upper Deck for some food. For longer rides, Cortez has bike lanes all the way to Commercial and then Commercial has concrete paths that are separated from the highway. Cycling the residental streets at night with headlamps is sublime.We liked it so much that we added on five more days!"

- "No can opener. Beds are old and lumpy" - "Loved the area, so quiet most of the time. We loved kayaking and paddle boarding and seeing the manatees. Most of the time it was my husband and I. Some family came down the last couple of weeks. Some great restaurants in the area. We loved the morning sun and setting on the dock. Ate some dinners there and cooked on the grill, and the screened in area is great in the evening. Will definitely be back."

The home is spacious, but cozy and right on a beautiful canal leading right to the private areas of Weeki Wachee River. Very close to stores, restaurants and other attractions! This includes being very close to local beaches like Hernando Beah (10 minutes) and just an 1.5 hours to the top beaches in the country. Not to mention you are only 1.5 hours to Disney and all Orlando attractions! If you are looking for more Springs there are many more around the corner including Crystal Springs and Seven Sisters. Guests will have access to the entire home including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and laundry area. In addition this includes the deck and boat dock area with 2 clear kayaks. The outside area has a firepit and corn toss games.

Our Story
We named this place "Legacy Lagoon" because it is an ode to Tava's Grandmother Carol or "Nonnies". She has a history here in Weeki Wachee where she was a popular Weeki Wachee mermaid at the time where the Springs were featured in many Hollywood mainstream movies and visited by many stars and athletes of the time of the 50's and 60's. She carried on the tradition of raising her children in the cool spring waters with owning properties on the river and enjoying many family vacations here. Tava even learned to swim here as well!

Nonnies was featured in the local newspaper, where you can see her drinking coke under water and performing as a mermaid. These photos are also on the gallery wall of the home along with other elements that add to her legacy. Having our own children now, it is our hope to have our own children grow up around these waters and it is our mission to help other families enjoy Weeki Wachee too!

★ Screened-in BBQ: Large screened in Lanai with pretty wrap around string lights and an overhead fan. Sit around playing cards at the glass table with a water view and enjoy the smell of fresh air and BBQ.

★ Yard Games: It’s all about fun in the sun. Provided are Cornhole boards, Giant Jenga blocks, Ring toss, Cards, Puzzles, and Board Games.

★ Beach Essentials: We are located close to amazing gulf shore beaches and want to provide all the essentials for your beach explorations. Provided are Beach towels, Beach umbrella, Large Cooler, and Beach chairs.

★ Large Dock: Boat friendly! Park your boat right up to the dock. (Please inquire with host to insure we can accommodate) Lots of space and seating with solar lights surrounding the railings and dock floor, this provides visibility at night and creates a beautiful display of color when enjoying an evening BBQ. The dock extends out over the water so feel free to fish and lounge right on the water!

★ Kayak Launch Dock: Getting in and out of a kayak can be challenging. so, we built a brand-new dock just off the main dock that has handles and a post to tie the kayak to allowing for easier and more stable access into the kayaks.

★ Master on Suit bathroom: The home has two full baths, but the master bedroom includes a walk-in closet and private on-suite bathroom.

★ Dedicated workspace: In the open concept living and kitchen area you will find ample workspace with comfortable seating.

★ Complimentary Items: We provide bars of soap for every stay, coffee and tea options for our Keurig.
