Carmen, the host, was kind and extremely attentive. We had one incident with the shower, and Carmen had it immediatley fixed. In addition, she was very responsive to all my questions and happy to assist while we were preparing for our trip. If you want to have an authentic, yet comfortable and fun experience in NYC, I recommend this Harlem gem!"

Security Deposit Policy:
- Stays up to 89 nights: $2,500 credit hold
- Stays between 90 and 179 nights: $5,000 credit hold
- Stays of 180 nights or longer: Cash security deposit equal to one month’s rent

All security deposits are processed as a credit card hold 2 days prior to arrival and released 2 days after departure, or as a bank transfer for stays of 180 nights or longer.

The Parlor is a fully furnished one bedroom apartment. It is on the 1st floor of a landmarked private brownstone townhouse in the Mount Morris Historic District in the most coveted area of Harlem.

This apartment features 12' ceilings, modern furnishings and professionally designed accents. All lights are on dimmer switches to provide an intimate setting. There is a video buzzer/intercom system for guest entry.

The living room has a 46'' LED smart flat screen television with the local station provided and as well as a remote control radio/iPod player with a playlist of blues and jazz. Wireless Internet access is also provided. The huge mirrored wood decorative fireplace creates a dramatic focal point. The leather sofa folds out to become a super comfortable memory foam queen-size bed, the highest quality available. Original built-in shutters fold out for privacy as well as light control. But the huge south facing windows provide an iconic street view under the spreading honey locust tree canopy and it is a beautiful sight to see.

The custom dining table off of the kitchen seats 4 and has an adjustable light above it.

The kitchen features stainless steel appliances: large refrigerator with auto ice maker, dishwasher, four burner gas range with oven and a built-in microwave/fan. Also provided are a blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes and flatware, glassware and mugs, knife set, cooking pots and pans and utensils. There are plenty of cabinets and under-counter lighting. Dishwasher detergent is provided, as well a filtered water pitcher.

The washer and dryer are next to the bathroom. Detergent is provided. The cabinet next to it holds bedding, extra towels, an iron as well as plenty of storage space.

The all white subway tiled bathroom has a vintage claw-foot bathtub with shower option, as well as hamper, hair dryer, timer exhaust fan. A vintage towel rack and vintage art deco mirror add charm. The ceiling light is dimmable.

The bedroom is accessible though beautiful sliding pocket doors with intricate original woodwork above. The art deco wood wardrobe has ample size as well as drawers and trouser hangers. Original wood wainscoting and fireplace add charm to the bedroom. The memory foam queen bed features wall hung vintage reading lights and is next to the window, providing gentle garden breezes. A variable speed overhead fan adds to the luxury. For those coming to NYC for nursing or other related medical contracts, we are located near several hospitals, such as Harlem, Metropolitan, Columbia-Presbyterian, Lincoln, and Lenox Hill. Guests will have access to the apartment using a fob to open the entrance door to the building and the vestibule door. We have security cameras through the hallways and the entrance of the building. They will have an apartment equipped with everything they might need for a long-term stay. They can use free of charge the finished laundry room with two washers/two dryers. Only four apartments might use them, so it is very convenient.

The building is completely network wired which is managed professionally by the owner. The building has cameras on each floor. Entry to the building is accessible with a fob connected to a computerized access point and IP based audio/video intercom system. The apartment is network wired and both WiFi and wired internet access is available.

Tenants have free of charge access to the laundry room in the building with two washers/two dryers.

The normal check in date is 4:00 pm and check out time is 10:30 am unless other arrangements are made with the owner.

PARKING: Being a high-end residential area, Upper West Side where our building is located is one of the rare areas where you can still park for free. You can park on the street free of charge except for four days a week between 8:30 am to 10:00 am, Mon and Thu on the North side of our street and Tue and Fri on the South side of the street, because of street cleaning. I would say, for the most part the residents park in the street and you don't need a parking permit. During these four days when the street sweeper comes between 8:30 to 10:00, all cars which are parked, you can move your car to the middle of the street or double park so that the sweeper can go thru. After the sweeper is gone, Neighbours move right back to their parking spot, but the driver needs to stay in the car till 10:00 am. If you are on the side which does not have the street cleaning, you can park as long as you want, and it is free. I would say, most residents are able to find a parking spot so that they don't have to move their car during the street cleaning.

There is a parking garage two blocks south, on 83rd street between Columbus and Amsterdam and some tenants might have used it as a long-term parking. If you want to find a long-term parking and don't need the car every day, you can probably find a less expensive parking garage on the west side of Manhattan as you get closer to the Hudson River. I believe you can probably shop around once you are in the city.

Now, this information applies to the street and not to the avenues! I believe we pay about $ 10.75/2 hours on Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. You are allowed to park a maximum of an hour or two since you cannot pay more with the park meters. Few spots are reserved for commercial parking till 1:00 pm, but I would say if it is for couple of hours you can always find a spot on the avenues as well as with park meters. More than anything else, the location is very close to the city's entrances (little less than an hour of travel time into Port Authority area).
