- "We got in late, and they were great to work with us, and shuttle us from the casino out to our villa and back again in the morning for breakfast. The reception at the casino called one of the restaurants in house and asked them if they could stay open and make us some food, since we hadn't been able to eat since that morning. The reception at the villas worked with us on our check out since we had to go pick up our hired car, and we got back a little later than check out time. The whole staff was friendly and helpful. We got some really helpful information from Matt, our shuttle driver, about places to see and where to eat. Overall, a fabulous stay. Would definitely recommend, and definitely stay here again! "

- "Great place. With a lift, it made our visit much easier. My sister has problems with stairs, so we used the entrance at the rear of the building which took us out to the street/ Parking was across the road in the three story carpark and very easy. Mostly free overnight and small hourly charges during the day. Much cheaper than other places. Be aware that a lot of shops/cafes, etc are not open on Sunday in Launceston but we did find a great place for breakfast in Brisbane Street. Great breakfast and offers GF too. Look for the arcades linking Paterson and Brisbane Streets. "

This is a luxe home away from home, drenched in sunlight. Flop back on the big couch, watch the big TV, cook in the full kitchen, make your morning cuppa, or just catch a glimpse of the monkeys across the road from the living area windows!
A full renovation of a building that used to be a bootmaker factory then retail store until the late 1960's. This large apartment has a new King size bed, floor coverings, new furniture, air conditioning, a 70" TV and electronic blinds amongst other touches.
It's a great place to be if you have an event at the Grand Chancellor or Albert Hall or if you'd like to be close to an event in City Park such as Festivale!
This is a one bedroom, 95sqm apartment with open plan living area and free off street parking at the door!
Guest Access
The entire apartment is all yours. Of course, high speed 250mbps NBN wi-fi is included.
Interaction with Guests
If you need some advice on where to go, Rick knows local attractions very well and is happy to help you plan your trip. We're just a text message away or if you like to be left alone fully that's fine too, you'll have all the privacy you need. We've also included some visitor guides in the apartment.
The Neighbourhood
This is a special event end of the city. On a Saturday morning you'll feel like you've woken up in the coolest part of the city as everyone converges on the Harvest Market. Also downstairs is the Oak Tree Cafe with amazing house-made cakes and homemade relish. Then across the road is City Park and the Albert Hall.
City Park has many special event weekends so be sure to book early for those weekends. Also during AFL days, it's a walk directly down our street to the stadium. The atmosphere is all around, yet again it's peaceful once you step inside.
Getting Around
If you already have a car then there's FREE off-street parking reserved for you at the door of your apartment. You are less than 4 blocks from most attractions.
If you'd like to go further out of the city, you can hire a car from Europcar of Avis, both of whom are less than 100m away. Other convenient places:

We were able to walk to Cataract Gorge, the museum, to take a cruise and to eat out. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. I thought the apartment was nicer than the photos show. I liked the features of an older building such as high ceilings, ceiling roses ... The kitchen was only suitable for simple cooking but fine to cook up breakfast or a one pot lunch. We ate out at night since we were surrounded by restaurants. We appreciated the pod coffee and washing machine/dryer (including detergent). It was quite cold when we stayed but the rooms have plug in electric heaters which kept the living room and bedroom nice and warm and it had a reverse cycle air conditioner in the passage. It was still cold in the kitchen in the evening but we only used it briefly at that time so it was not a problem. I purchased some nice warm slippers and that made it much more comfortable. Overall we felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay. "

- "Loved this apartment. Bed was comfy - could even be electronically tilted. Everything was sparkling clean and very modern. Only downside for me that it was a bit too dark for working inside during the day - there is some fabulous cafe seating straight out the door though, so I sat there and got a delicious cuppa at the same time. Really appreciated having a dishwasher and laundry machines. Theres lots of restaurants nearby, for Italian, try La Cantina. Just be aware that parking is all paid and costly around there, so if you can, just leave the car somewhere else and walk everywhere. Lauren was very easy to communicate with, thanks for a lovely stay!"

Excellent communication from host. Chrstine" - "The unit was nicely presented, and very comfortable " - "This was a great place to stay with all the items needed for the four days. Thankyou" - "Everything was fine, it is clean and nice, small apartment with all the basics and easy parking.I really liked the code door, instead of the key.The only thing I didn't like was the noise from the upstairs apartment. The suburb's lovely location overlooks the Launceston Valley, boasting spectacular city views from all angles. Whether you are enjoying the warm, morning sun, or the beautiful starry skies and city lights, West Launceston provides the perfect space for you to relax and experience the best that Launceston has to offer.

The Gorge Restaurant serves lunch and dinner in an intimate dining setting. Choose to dine inside next to the fireplace, or sit amongst the fresh Tasmanian wilderness and wildlife in the alfresco dining area.
Whilst visiting, we would recommend visiting the Duck Reach Power Station, Australia’s first publicly-owned hydro-electric power station.

- "Loved this apartment. Everything we needed, bight and airy and close to the centre - walked in and ubered back." - "Cute cosy place with equipped kitchen appliances and a private parking space. Our family enjoyed the stay and would recommend" - "This property was a very thoughtfully designed flat in a rather pretty (albeit hilly) area. The only thing that would have improved it for us would have been even more light blocking blinds for the night (there were good blinds in place, it's just that I'm very responsive to light during the night). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Thank you!"

- "Lovely accomodation, spacious and all the amenities you could need for a short stay! The shower was divine after a long journey from interstate! Thanks so much Jade!" - "The place (and host) was really lovely. It was located close enough to town that we could drive in quickly, but far enough away that it wasn’t noisy or busy. It was bigger than it appeared in the photos - the kitchenette is in a separate room. I liked that there was tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There’s no door on the toilet, but I assume if guests are comfortable sharing a bed with each other this won’t be a huge issue. Thank you Jade, for a lovely stay."

This one bedroom studio apartment is superbly private, peaceful, bright, stylish and well located.
The space
Sun Studio has everything you need for a superb short-medium stay - the sounds of bird song in the morning and peacocks calling from the gorge. After heavy rain or flooding times, you can hear the the water flowing through the Gorge. The studio is sunny, fresh and bright!
We welcome you with a taste of Tasmanian spirits and locally made cheese with crackers (1 block is complimentary). Relax and enjoy!
On a practical front, the studio has crisp linen bedding, a smart TV, a kettle, tea and coffee, washing machine, microwave, bar fridge and sandwich press.
With the city so close, more substantial meals are best organised through home delivery or a visit to one of Launceston's fine restaurants (see the Guidebook).
The house is as energy efficient and environmentally sustainable as possible (large organic gardens, chickens and fruit trees). It is very well insulated so maintains a comfortable temperature, however if you are feeling a warm or cool (especially in the chilly winter months), you have a reverse cycle air-conditioner. Clothes dry easily on an internal hanging airdryer which captures the drying heat from the ceiling; there is also a standard clothes rack available.
The studio is well serviced with reliable wifi, as well as an ethernet cable available to the table/working space if required.
Babies and small children are welcome - a portacot and high chair are available.
Guest access
Parking is conveniently located on the street near the entrance gate. Where possible, please park in front of No. 35 or lower down the street to help with the high-side neighbour’s driveway access.
Guests enter through the side gate, passing the grapevine, fruit trees and happy chooks. There is normally street parking at the gate.
There are 8 steps up to your private entrance and a further 8 steps up in an internal stairwell (in West Launceston, you just keep going up and up!). Do be mindful - whilst we are close to the city, we are in a hilly part of town if planning to walk around. Ubers are cheap and plentiful, as are the latest addition to town, e-scooters, which can also convey you home.
Other things to note
There are two bouncy dogs on the property. They can bark when guests arrive, but they are normally either in their fenced yard, out for a run, lounging by a warm fire or soaking up the afternoon sun on the back deck.
Sun Studio is located on the top floor of our family home. The house is well insulated and any noise will be minimal and temporary. Guests have given reviews about how quiet and peaceful it is here; we pride ourselves on providing guests with a relaxing and private stay.

Loft over Launceston is a creative and peaceful space with great views over the city of Launceston and the lovely mountain ranges north east of the city, including ski resort Ben Lomond.
We are less than 1km to Cataract Gorge and 1.5km to town centre.
The space
Loft over Launceston is a relaxing space for two people, with most ‘mod cons’, a fabulous view over Launceston and a lovely private courtyard just off the back veranda.
The fully-equipped, well-stocked kitchen and spacious lounge/dining area might tempt you to dine-in!
Stone steps by a local landscape designer give the place unique charm, and our fledgling garden shows promise of complementing the creative and peaceful interior space.
The Loft is located at the back of the property. It is physically separate from the main house. We do ask all who visit to respect the privacy and property of the occupants of the main house.
Launceston doesn't get really hot (average summer max is 24.4C) so the fans provided are quite adequate with a window open here and there.
Guest access
Access is via driveway and yard of the main house. Key-safe codes and other useful information are provided once a booking is confirmed. Guests have access to the full upstairs loft: bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, open plan dining and lounge area, small verandah and private courtyard. Guests also have access to the laundry cupboard located in the garage below the loft as well the waste/recycling bins in the garage; all other items in the garage are the property of the owners
Other things to note
* All linen is supplied (covered by cleaning cost.)
* Guests are not required to have contact with the main house as it is a separate dwelling not associated with the Loft.
* Our car might be parked in the garage underneath but guests will still have access to the laundry and bins.
* The Loft has not been built with universal access in mind, and would be better suited to guests without mobility challenges.
