The building was originally Manistee National Bank. The recently renovated apartment is where the Bank offices were originally located. It sits on the Manistee River Walk. The building is centrally located in the downtown Historic District, steps away from local shopping, dining, and entertainment. The deck provides beautiful views of the river where you will see sailboats and charter fishing boats pass by. You may even see a Great Lakes Freighter navigate the river channel. The River Walk makes for a nice stroll down to Lake Michigan.
The renovated apartment is 1500 sq ft, has original hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, 11' ceilings, tons of natural lighting, and a beautiful back deck that overlooks the Manistee River. "The Place" is located in one of the old brick buildings in downtown Manistee between the theater and the pub. It's across the street from the scenic Riverwalk, less than 1 mile from beautiful Lake Michigan and footsteps away from restaurants and shops. Built in 1882, "The Place" has retained the hardwood floors and 11' ceilings. The 1400 sq. ft. of comfy living space is a great place to relax after a day at the lake, hiking in the Manistee Nat'l Forest, or skiing at Crystal Mountain, or golfing at Manistee or Arcadia Bluffs

Located in the center of the historically landmarked Victorian area of River Street in downtown Manistee, this two bedroom spacious 1600 square foot apartment offers a convenient location for vacationing in charming Manistee, Michigan. The apartment is located on the second floor of a Victorian commercial/ residential building that dates back to the late 1800’s. The residential floor is a walk-up only, a consideration to be taken into account if you have children or a visitor in the party that might have difficulty navigating stairs. Originally, a saloon occupied the first floor with a parlor above. Currently, a nicely appointed retail space occupies the street level with the apartment on the second floor decorated in many of the accoutrements dating back to the late 1800’s and eclectically mixed with mid-century furnishings and art.
The apartment boasts two spacious bedrooms one containing a queen bed and the other with a full. A futon sofa sleeping one can be accessed in the large dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials including dishes, glass ware, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and oven/stove. A washer and a dryer are also available.

The building was originally Manistee National Bank. The recently renovated apartment is where the Bank offices were originally located. It sits on the Manistee River Walk. Guests have easy access to the River Walk for a nice stroll down to Lake Michigan. The building is centrally located in the downtown Historic District, steps away from local shopping, dining, and entertainment.

The space
The recently renovated apartment is 1500 sq ft, has original hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, 11' ceilings, tons of natural lighting, and a beautiful back deck that overlooks the Manistee River. There are stairs leading up to the apartment from the street (pictured). The rear access is via a spiral staircase (pictured) on the patio that leads down to the lower levels of the building. There is one parking space located behind the building for your use.

Shaffer Haus is a spacious apartment overlooking the beautiful Manistee River that runs between Manistee Lake and Lake Michigan.
Sit on the deck and enjoy a coffee while you watch boats go by, stay in and play games or go explore the area. Our house book has tons of information and will provide everything you need to navigate our beautiful area.
If you have questions, come see us. We own and operate the Port City Emporium gift shop directly below the apartment as well as Riverside Toys just 2 block West. We also live within a few blocks if you need to reach us during your stay for anything.

Welcome to the Trunk House at Camp Tosebo.
Nestled on the southern shores of pristine Portage Lake and surrounded by 50 acres of protected forest step right out your door for an abundance of activity. Named after its original role storing the campers' clothing, the Trunk House is a large, one room studio with vaulted ceilings, living and dining areas, queen size bed & twin bed, claw foot tub & shower, and kitchenette. Its rustic charm will bring you back for years to come.

The space
Camp Tosebo is comprised of 50 acres of wooded property with marked hiking trails. 3 rental houses are on the property including the Trunk House and share the private beach on Portage Lake as well as the guest dock. Volley ball, tennis, basketball, tether ball, a play ground, an outdoor fire pit and a vintage miniature golf course are available to all the guests of Camp Tosebo. Portage Lake is a great swimming lake with a sandy bottom. Excellent for boating, canoeing or kayaking. There is direct access to Lake Michigan by boat through the Portage Lake channel.

Guest access
Picnic area at the beach as well as a picnic table and grill at the Trunk House. The playground and tennis courts in Red Park Cottage Association is available to Trunk Houses guests.

Other things to note
All linens and towels are provided. For week long guests clean towels are provided half way through your stay. The Trunk House has a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, small range, small refrigerator, coffee maker and dishes and pots and pans.

Welcome to the Caretakers Suite at Camp Tosebo. Originally an innkeepers apartment, it is now a separate living space connected to our main building, The Clubhouse. The Caretakers Suite has a separate ramp entrance and has a deck, kitchen, living room, bath with a tub/shower combination and two bedrooms. In addition there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. A private fire pit and firewood are provided.

A former boy's camp founded in 1912, Camp Tosebo is now a vacation rental resort nestled in 50 wooded acres on the southern shores of pristine Portage Lake. Ever wanted to stay right in historic Downtown Manistee? Now’s your chance! This incredible upstairs apartment is right at the heart of everything Manistee has to offer. It’s near the west end of River Street, closer to Lake Michigan!

You’ll love the phenomenal views overlooking downtown and the Channel. It’s the perfect spot to watch the giant freighters go through. Other visitors and guests will be envious of your spot during Manistee’s main events over July 4th or Sleighbell Weekend.

Note: This is an upstairs apartment with no elevator available. * Please note as a downtown apartment, there is not dedicated parking. Please park on any of the nearby sidestreets. Parking downtown is permitted but should not be done during busy times in July and August, and especially during holidays or Sleighbell.

The kitchen is fully stocked for everyday meal prep. Dishes, pots and pans, silverware, glass, etc. dishwasher, and a drip coffee maker is available for guest use. Also included: bed linens, bath towels, basic cleaning supplies, and soaps (not personal soaps), and a starter set of paper products.

LOCATION: Doesn’t get any better than this! Apartment is located downtown Manistee, near the West End. Steps to all downtown shops, restaurants and the City Marina. About 1 mile from the popular Lake Michigan beach, very walkable on sidewalk or boardwalk along the river. About an hour south of Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City.

ARRIVAL: There is no formal check-in procedure. Arrival details are sent prior to your check-in date and will include the exact location of the property, parking and entry information. Guests will have a private, secure entrance and the rental is not shared by owners or other guests.

DEPARTURE: We do have a very short checklist we ask renters follow upon departure. It includes making sure the property is left tidy, furniture is in the same place you found it, everything is closed, locked and turned off, and the thermostat is set properly. These items will only take a couple of minutes but help staff immensely.

Please know that all rental policies and house rules are strictly enforced. This includes occupancy limits, age requirements, the ‘no parties’ and ‘no smoking’ clauses or any other rule posted online or within the rental. These are often defined by local ordinances, Homeowner’s Associations or other legal requirements and can result in fines or eviction if violated. We do not provide additional refunds for cancellations, late arrivals or early departures except as required in the posted cancellation policy.
