My home is in a secluded area with access to a river walk. The local Gressenhall Museum offers events during the year. The Norfolk coast is nearby:- Walsingham, 25 minutes away with Wells and Holkham 15 minutes further on. Fakenham racecourse is ten miles away. Dereham's Mid-Norfolk Railway - offers steam and diesel events plus the popular 'Polar Express' experience. The area is also local for Sandringham and the Thursford Christmas Show.

The space
The bedroom is small but the bed is double size with drawers and hanging hooks for clothes. There is always tea and coffee available on request. The bathroom has a large shower but no bath.

Guest access
I offer off road parking and there is a regular bus service into Fakenham and Dereham with free 3 hour parking.
There is a shared lounge with TV/Netflix and a conservatory with garden access. I have a log burner lit in winter (with carbon monoxide safety sensor) and a dining area for you to enjoy your breakfast. It is a quiet home with few distractions - but lots of walks, should the urge take you. There are no street lights but lots of stars!

During your stay
The rules I have is to enjoy yourself, smoke outside and leave your shoes and worries at the door! Please ensure that the toilet seat and lid are closed after use. Guests may purchase 'takeaways' for me to microwave in the early evening. However there is no access to the kitchen for cooking an evening meal.

Other things to note
Breakfast will be ready when you are - cereal, fruit juice and toast with fresh coffee or tea is on offer. Guests have printed information in their room showing what is on offer in the area.
I am within minutes of Gressenhall Museum and the North Norfolk railway is 3 miles away in Dereham, they offer many special events. The village has an excellent Thai Restaurant with bar - booking is recommended. There is also the local Norfolk Wildlife Trust in Cley, the beautiful Georgian town of Holt and Pensthorpe (30 mins away) for bird watchers . Norwich is less than 30 mins away by bus, car parking is expensive and the bus takes you straight into the city

The space
Fascinating 18th century Norfolk Farmhouse, not on an active farm any more and only 20 minutes from Norwich, the UEA and Norfolk & Norwich Teaching Hospital. It contains most of the original features, including oak beams and windows and an inglenook fireplace. It is filled with arts and curios from around the world.

Off-road parking.

There are two delightful bedrooms with south-facing views over the garden. One room has a double bed and the other twins or a super-king.. BOTH OF THESE ROOMS SHARE A PRIVATE BATHROOM SO WE ONLY LET THEM TOGETHER FOR FAMILIES OR CLOSE FRIENDS. FOR THOSE WANTING ONE ROOM ONLY THE BATHROOM IS FOR YOUR EXCLUSIVE USE. There is a wash-hand-basin in each bed room. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided in your room.

The sitting room for guests’ use is large but very cosy with wood-burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace. An HD widescreen television is provided.. WiFi is available and access to a pc will be given if you do not have a laptop or tablet with you. A wide range of books and magazines is available combined with a variety of games and puzzles. A study area is available with those with work to do!

Breakfast is a delight with a choice of full English or specialities such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Continental breakfast consists of fresh fruit, yogurts, toast, croissants etc served with home made preserves including Mulberry Jam [from our own tree in the garden] A vegetarian option is always available. We source all ingredients locally as much as possible as Norfolk is renowned for its agricultural produce. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements - we can cater for all diets.

North Tuddenham is situated in the heart of Norfolk, surrounded by farmland and country lanes but still close to the celebrated North Norfolk Coast and the fine City of Norwich (13 miles) one of England’s great medieval cities. Guided tours of Norfolk and Norwich are available on a pre-booked basis and can be designed to suit individual guests’ interests.

The Barrel house has been lovingly restored to provide a stylish, multifunctional space for Airbnb guests. The vaulted ceiling adds to the feeling of space. All windows are double glazed and a velux roof window allows the daylight to flood in. Outside there is a private patio area with a bistro set for outdoor dining or enjoying sundowners. Nearby is the village shop, popular butchers and local pub. There are plenty of walks to enjoy nearby.

The space
We provide a welcome pack on arrival of fresh bread from a local baker, selection of preserves, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and coffee pods for the Dulce Gusto coffee machine.
The living space is open plan with zones for kitchen, lounging and sleeping. A door leads to a large bathroom with a large walk in shower, toilet and wash basin.
Storage drawers under the bed for your clothing and limited hanging space also available.
The television in the lounge zone is connected to Sky tv via a Q box and is signed into Netflix for your enjoyment.
Private use patio area to the rear of the barrel house for your enjoyment with views overlooking garden and fields beyond.

Parking is available for one car per booking. Additional parking is available nearby.

Due to the time it takes to clean and prepare the Barrel House for new guests we are not usually able to accommodate requests for earlier check in times.

The barrel house is a self contained guest suite for exclusive use with its own front door

Please let us know if you are bringing your dog(s) with you. Dogs must not be left alone or unsupervised in the Barrel House. Parking is available for one car per booking. This room is located on the ground floor; it can be made up with either a 6ft super king size bed, or as 2 singles. A wooden stair case leads to the upstairs "snug".
