- "Lovely stay - need some bottled water in the room as unable to fill kettle it kept coming out warm from the tap so unable to drink " - "A simple B&B that does exactly what you expect. I'd happily stay there again." - "Great value for money! Close to Canterbury , shops a five minute walk at the most and pubs and restaurants even less. We stayed in the garden room which felt bright and airy and it was lovely to sit in the garden with a glass of wine.. This isn't a pub anymore so there wasn't anyone to welcome us which wasn't a problem.. But breakfast had friendly staff and tasty food.. Our only small problem was getting our key code as we booked last minute, but after a phone conversation it was sorted straight away. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.. "

The Old Wash House was built in the 19th century and was the place where the Victorian occupants did their washing!
It is now a one bedroom cottage with three rooms and a corridor area. The main space is split into two areas: a living room with small sofa and wood burning fire and a small but fully equipped kitchen. The whole property has free WiFi.
The bathroom with WC is brand new (March 2025) It is tiny but has a toilet, small basin and new electric shower with cubicle.
The bedroom has a full size double bed, two bedside tables with lamps, full size set of drawers and a hanging space for clothes. It has double dockets with usb charging points on each side of the bed. It also has French doors out onto a small, open patio area with table and chairs for that morning cuppa in the sun.
The whole of The Old Wash House has been newly decorated in March 2025.
Our daughter has been living in The Old Wash house since Covid lockdown in 2020 so although a small property, it is more than comfortable.
Since 2020 (if you’re a returning guest) we have added a bedroom, full kitchen and wood burner.
We hope you like it!
We can’t wait to see you 😊

SUSTAINABILITY
*Being aware of energy consumption, via an app controlled heating system, and ensuring all possible steps are taken to keep our usage as low as possible. We changed supplier a while ago to Octopus renown for its green approach.
*We recycle hard plastic, tins, glass and paper.
*We use all kitchen waste to feed the chickens who supply our eggs, and green waste is composted on owners small holding, and is then used for garden plants.
*Fresh local flowers are provided weekly from the owners garden and a friends garden.
*Where ever possible we use locally sourced food products. For example our Award Winning sausages come from a local farm and shop.
*We have a high EPC rating as during the restoration the roof, walls, ceilings and floors are not only sound boarded, but are also extra insulated. The lighting is all LED.
