Small fun garden detached studio outhouse.
Cabin
City of Canterbury

Our newly renovated garden outhouse is stylish and cosy. The windows overlook the garden and the roof windows flood the space with light, as well as giving views of the night sky. The village of Bridge has beautiful countryside walks on the doorstep, a local shop, two pubs and the superb Pig hotel.
Canterbury is just 2 miles away and there is a bus service into town that stops just outside. The property has its own private entrance via the side gate of our house.

The space
Welcome to our unique and cosy retreat, a perfect getaway for adventurers, couples, or solo travellers seeking a memorable stay. Nestled in the heart of Bridge, this charming studio blends character and comfort, offering:

A Stylish Mezzanine Bedroom: Sleep under the stars (or close to them!) on the futon mattress in our snug mezzanine space. Please note the head height is limited—perfect for those who enjoy a cozy nook. There is a ladder to climb to reach the mezzanine bed so this is unsuitable for young children, the elderly or people with mobility issues. Guests use the ladder at their own risk. We can make up the sofa bed if you would prefer to sleep on the ground floor. Guests often comment that they enjoy star gazing and watching the birds. There are some blinds above the bed area which cover most of it but the other roof windows do not have blinds. We recommend bringing a sleep mask in the summer months unless you don’t mind being woken up by the early morning light.

Compact Shower Room: Our tiny yet functional shower room has all you need, but be prepared for a snug fit! There is limited head height in the shower room and under the mezzanine floor of just under 6 feet/180 cm.

Open-Plan Living Space: The studio’s open layout creates a bright and inviting atmosphere, but please keep in mind that privacy for getting dressed is limited. There is limited head height under the mezzanine floor of 180cm/just under 6 feet.

A Kitchenette: There is a small area with a sink, kettle, toaster and microwave where you can make hot drinks and snacks but there is no oven, hob or fridge. All the more reason to go out and enjoy a meal in one of our local pubs or the Pig hotel! We provide a selection of tea/coffee and milk sachets.

This space is all about charm and quirkiness. While it may not have the grandeur of a large suite, it makes up for it with unique character and an unbeatable village location. Ideal for guests who value experience over size.

Why You'll love it:

This cosy retreat offers all the essentials for a comfortable stay in a quaint English village. Plus, we’re just a short walk from the Michelin star pub, The Bridge Arms and the wonderful Pig hotel which features a stylish a la carte restaurant and kitchen garden, where in the summer months, they serve up delicious flat breads. There is also a cafe called Flo and Ted’s where you can get great coffee and the Red Lion pub is a popular and reasonably priced place to eat too. The village of Bridge is an area of outstanding natural beauty and there are lots of scenic walks on our doorstep. We are also positioned on the popular Elham Valley Way.

Guests can choose to park on our drive. As it is lower than the road, it is unsuitable for lower style vehicles. There is usually plenty of parking along the high street too.

The space is suitable for couples but we can accommodate families with small children or extra guests but due to the size of the accommodation and small double beds, it will be a squeeze. We charge £10 for a second bed to be made up.

If you are looking for accommodation that is both quirky and stylish, then this is the perfect spot!

Guest access
Guests can park on the drive. There is a ramp down so it may be unsuitable for low vehicles. There is usually parking along the road outside too. There is a key safe by the side gate so guests can let themselves in. The entrance is down the the side alley of our house which then opens up to a patio area and the outhouse front door. The patio has a table and chairs and gets the morning sun so it is nice to have breakfast. The large garden has various seating areas.

Other things to note
There is limited space and head height under the mezzanine floor and in the bathroom so please read the listing fully before booking to check this won’t be a problem.
There is a kitchenette but no oven, hob or fridge.
Guests use the ladder and mezzanine floor at their own risk.
Some of the roof windows do not have blinds.
We ask guests to be considerate and leave the place neat and tidy, washing up any dirty crockery etc. and taking rubbish out. Lights, heaters and electrical items should be switched off before departure too.
Strictly no smoking! 🚭
