- "This hotel is housed in a beautiful, centuries old building with remarkable charm; you'll feel transported to medieval England in a very good way. However, the age of the building does come with some negatives; the stairs to my room (2) were quite steep, and the room itself was just big enough to house the king size bed within it. Additionally, the walls are quite thin, so you'll hear activity from the restaurant below until about 11pm, and potentially later from adjacent rooms (I could clearly hear my neighbour snoring!). None of this was an issue for me, as I sleep late and heavy, but I imagine it could be serious for some. What made the trip worth it however was the food; oh the food! I travel for work and pleasure easily 50+ times a year, and I can honestly say that it's difficult to remember a time I've had better food than this. The chef(s) offer a perfect combination of rustic Britishness with European refinement, and powerful flavours to bring it all home. Honestly, even if the rest of my stay had been a 3 star experience, I would've returned again just 5o experience their culinary delights once more. To briefly summarise; I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough to food lovers, but advise caution for light sleepers (though they do provide complimentary earplugs)."

Parking is very tight with only one space and our friend decided to stop the traffic to help us reverse out in the morning. Very central, loads to see and do and we would definitely return here. Overall the house was clean, had everything we needed. Lots of info on places to visit was given, some quirky artwork around the house as the name would suggest. If you're visiting this area I would recommend staying here, I don't think you'd be disappointed. The only thing to consider is that it is a townhouse with lots of stairs, so if mobility issues that is your only drawback. Otherwise, get booking! "

The heating was on a schedule such that at night the temperature in the house was around 6 degrees giving me a backache until I asked the owner to keep the temperature at a constant 23 degrees. It seems that Expedia did not ensure proper quality assessment with the owner. Located in the heart of the Kent countryside in the beautiful village of Littlebourne, Oak Lodge is an ideal secluded base from which to enjoy a relaxing break with family and friends any time of year.

The lodge caters for 5 people. An open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen containing electric hob and fan oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer, cooking utensils, a family dining area and a comfortable sitting area with wall mounted flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player. There are 2 bedrooms, a master bedroom with king sized bed and a separate family room with both a double and single bed.
There is a large stoned garden area with BBQ, hot tub and fire-pit ideal for alfresco dining. The cabin is south facing and benefits from the sun from sunrise until sunset.

With excellent amenities close by including the local shop, large village green, outdoor play area, local village pub (all within a few minutes walk), stunning scenery leading to numerous beautiful walks and cycle routes, this cabin is ideal for a year-round family break.

It was pretty much exactly as the hosts had described in terms of spaces and location. It is literally feet from the high street of Canterbury, and therefore a wonderful location for experiencing the history and sites of this amazing city. Therefore, using Canterbury as a home base for other London or Kent adventures is a breeze. This historic home is in a very surprisingly quiet area, even though it is only steps away from a lot of energy and activity. Lastly, there is access to a number of small and larger grocery and pharmacy stories, which is incredibly helpful, including a corner grocery about 1 block away. We did a lot of shopping there, and used the well-appointed kitchen to prepare some meals. I will share a few comments to help future guests be prepared for their stay. These are not criticisms, but rather things that will help folks: 1) The stairwell of this very old home is extremely narrow, and the stairs themselves are very tall and shallow. There is also a bannister only part of the way up. For someone with mobility issues, this home wouldn't be the right choice. The toilet and all bedrooms are on the second floor, so using the stairs multiple times/day is necessary. 2) During colder months, the localized electric heaters in each room do not keep the home fully warm. We found the heaters to be fine to heat the bedrooms while we were sleeping under the wonderful linens provided. But the house overall was quite chilly. This is absolutely understandable because of the age of the house (and because our trip was during a cold point in the year!). Just keep in mind that there is no forced air, and therefore you should bring layers and expect to be not be toasty warm at all times inside. 3) The washing machine is very small, and there is no dryer. We knew that, and so it wasn't a problem. There is an electric drying rack, but it takes quite a long time for things to dry. Therefore, be prepared to not do a ton of wash while you are there. Think of it as an option for small items or things that you have a few days to let dry. If you are there during a rainy time, the electric rack is a great option for tossing on things that got wet while out and about. Overall, we loved our stay, and would most definitely stay again if we travel back to Canterbury!"

We offer an array of books in your room, where we have a swap a book for a book policy ( A small donation is accepted if you do not have a book to swap). You will also find a small selection of games as well as a hair dryer and an iron.

Kitchen-
You are welcome to use all utensils and appliances. This includes a microwave and a dishwasher so you don't need to worry about washing up! We can provide you with fridge, freezer and cupboard space. There is a selection of teas and coffees as well as spices, herbs, salt pepper and oil. All of which you are welcome to use.
You will find the airbnb logo on all cupboards for your use this includes a hidden fridge. Please feel free to look around.

Bathroom-
We have great water pressure here at this property and the water does gets very hot. We are happy for you to have as many baths as you wish or showers. We have plenty of products for you to use. The only thing we do ask is that is you have a bath please ask other guests if they need the bathroom first as a courtesy. Leaving you to relax in peace!

We have a utility situated outside, that you are welcome to use at no extra cost. This includes a washing machine, dryer and laundry liquid .

Please do not feel you need to hide away in your room! You are welcome to share both the dinning room and living room with us.

During your stay
I am not always available at the property although I do aim to be. However I am always reachable via the airbnb site or via mobile. I am always on hand to help no question is too small.

I am grateful for your understanding. I host 7 days a week and sometimes have personal plans that mean that I am only available via phone.

We keep a fully stocked fridge for all of your breakfast needs, as well as a shelf full of cereal and a stocked bread bin.

Welcome to our little piece of happiness. Chartham is a little village on the outskirts of Canterbury. At the Crumbles lives a doggy (Sookie) and a number of happy chickens.

Full use of our house (except our bedroom) while you stay with us. Tea and coffee making facilities in each room as well as a 'light' breakfast items including home made bread and jam, which you can help yourself to. Fibre optic internet with Wi-Fi and a lovely garden.

The communal areas are cleaned once a week by me including the washing up in the kitchen. In the kitchen, there are two hobs, two washing machines, a clothes dryer, three fridges, a dishwasher, and a very large freezer with one compartment for each person.

Every bedroom has a small double bed ( with the exception of bedroom 1 which has a single bed ), a vanity unit with a washbasin, and a TV connected to the free sky channels.

Fast internet speed with very good coverage throughout the house and the internet connection is connected to BT Halo 3 + which means if there is a problem with the internet connection from the landline, the internet connection will automatically be connected to the 4G mobile network while the problem with the landline is being sorted out. This means a continual 24-hour connection to the internet even if there is a problem with the landline.

If you are looking for a well-run house; especially without the problems of who does the communal cleaning ( and even the washing up, during the weekly clean, if plates and saucepans are left unwashed ) then this is the house for you.

Central heating, during the winter, is on all day.

I do the weekly communal cleaning myself so you get a personal service and if I find any maintenance jobs to do, during the weekly cleaning, I get them fixed quickly. What sets this house apart from other house shares is the personal and efficient service you get from me thereby reducing the anxiety that sometimes can be felt when sharing with others. For example, someone not doing their washing up ( the kitchen is fully cleaned including cleaning the oven every week ) bathmats and dishcloths are cleaned every week and other small things I do that make sharing a lot easier.
