The area is away from the city noise but at the same time only a 10min walk to the city centre for the Cathedral and the highstreet. The perfect balance.
It is also only a 3min walk from the Canterbury city Roman walls, the castle, Canterbury EAST train station, an ALDI supermarket and the best fish and chips in the city 'Pappas'
You can park your car too with a dedicated parking space.
The room has a King's sized bed, a cabinet, a wardrobe, bed side tables.
There is plenty of room for your items and there is fiber-optic WI-FI.
The kitchen is fully furnished and the breakfast bar, dining area is great for cooking your own meals.
The bathroom has a spacious shower and there is underfloor heating you can use too.
There is also a utility room that you can use with a washing, drying machine and iron.

- "The property was exactly as advertised and the location was perfect - extremely close to town and many shops/facilities whilst also being quiet. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend the place to anyone looking for somewhere to stay while in Canterbury. We have 2 kids (9 and 11) who were thrilled to not have to share a bed. Having the 2 bathrooms was amazing after sharing a single bathroom in London! We loved the balcony to enjoy in the evenings and the family area to spread out in. The water pressure was perfect and so was the water heat, I say this because other locations in the UK we stayed at had either low water pressure, or not very warm showers or both. LOCATION was perfect! immediately leaving the building you have quick access to restaurants, pubs, shops and coffee. If you're needed groceries it is a quick walk to Aldi. We had a car and the car park is right down the street, making it easy. For the money, location and accommodations this is a great find! After we arrived Louie sent a message making sure everything was as expected. We would stay here again!"

The penthouse is centrally located within Canterbury's old roman walls and only 150 yards from Canterbury Cathedral. With views of the Cathedral on one side and the iconic Marlowe Theatre on the other, you are never to far away from all the wonderful restaurants, bars, shops and sights Canterbury has to offer. The Apartment has a king size bedroom, Living room with sofa bed and dining area. There is a well equipped fully fitted kitchen and luxury walk in shower room.
- "Very helpful owner and well equipped flat made our stay most enjoyable" - "We enjoyed our stay back home to England in your little flat. Functional flat with everything you need. About 10 mins from station, close to cathedral, shops, restaurants. There are stairs, which was not a issue with us even with 2 big cases, some may think otherwise. Balcony was nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy a drink. Was nice to have access to a hoover and cleaning supplies during our stay (other places lock them away). The "only" downfall to the flat was the top window above patio door in the kitchen/family room. The sun is lovely that streams through the window but on extremely hot days the heat would billow through the window and hit the glass tables and it made it so incredibly hot (great for winter, not summer). It is a hard window to dress but it would be more bearable if there were maybe the option to be able to draw some (white) curtains or something in extreme heat. There was a breeze coming through the door, just not enough. There was a fan in the bedroom, which was very much needed. Thank you for the goodie basket, was much appreciated upon our arrival!!"

The apartment is modern and fun throughout, and just a 5 minute walk from Canterbury West train station with high speed links to London.
- "This flat is very close to the train station, several restaurants, interesting attractions, and small shops for food. It’s decorated in a very quirky style, fun to scan down the hallway of all the interesting pictures. There are windows on both sides of the flat, which made it nice for ventilation on the hot summer nights. If we ever return to Canterbury, we will certainly try to book this flat again." - "We enjoyed our stay here. The pictures make the couches look longer than they are - they are actually love seats, so don't plan on anyone sleeping on one of them (my 18 year old wasn't particularly thrilled with me for assuming he could sleep on a couch but he survived!). Other than that, it is a fun place in a great location. There is no parking so if you have a car plan on parking a 5-10 minute walk away and paying for it. This spacious first floor apartment comes with one off-street allocated car parking space. It also features a fully equipped open plan kitchen/ lounge, one comfortable bedroom and a well maintained tiled bathroom.
The bedroom contains a double bed and the living area contains a comfortable single bed which can be used as a day bed during the day. With a pop out single bed on a frame on wheels underneath too!
The warm and welcoming open plan living area contains a comfortable sofa and dining table. The space is flooded with natural light throughout the day!
Other things to note
Please be aware that I use the flat myself twice a month when I come to Canterbury to visit my children, who are at boarding school in the town. I bought it during Covid times when it was very complicated for us to stay in hotels, and my children and I love having somewhere to stay within walking distance of the river and all the shops. The flat is available during the week and many weekends and holidays too - basically whenever we’re not there ourselves. For the moment there isn’t a TV in the flat as I like to make the most of every moment with my children to chat, cook or play games together, but if you wish to watch films then just bring your own laptop or iPad and connect to the WIFI.

Local newsagent is just across the road, and there's a great fish and chip shop almost next door! Aldi is just minutes away, Waitrose is less than a mile away around the ring road and Sainsbury's just a little bit further.

Canterbury town centre is less than a 10 minute walk away via the Dane John Gardens, with all the usual high street shops, bars and restaurants.
Local Attractions
The Westgate Gardens are a lovely starting point for a walk along the Great Stour, stopping by the wonderful Toddler Cove playground if you have small children. Just go out of the flat, turn right, go left past Aldi along the ring road and there's a path off to the left that joins the river. Walk into the town centre via the footbridge opposite Canterbury East train station, follow the steps down and stroll through the Dane John Gardens.

This beautiful, unusual flat has high beamed ceilings and a huge living area with wood-burning stove. One double bedroom. Close to city centre, just outside the city wall and a 15-minute walk to the Cathedral.
The space
A quirky beamed property with spacious living/dining area. Minutes’ walk from Canterbury city centre. One double bedroom, and tons of character - the property used to be a mill and dates from 1700.
The layout makes it difficult to photograph—I have done my best!

You have the whole property to yourself, and there’s a private entrance from street level. It's on the first floor - please note that the stairs to the flat are quite narrow & steep. Two rooms are locked for storage.
Other things to note
Please note that this old and rather unusual first floor flat is accessed up a steep staircase. There is a low beam across the living room and some areas of restricted head height (as well as some very high ceilings!)
I regret to say, therefore, that this flat is unsuitable for guests with mobility issues or constraints.

Number 8 is a collection of smart, stylish and comfortable rooms and suites in the heart of Canterbury. Within the city walls, near to all transport links and close to a lovely park, Number 8 is a period property which has recently been fully renovated. A family-run business, we offer a personalised service with safe and luxurious, eco-friendly accommodation. Guests have private suites with kitchenette with self check-in.
The space
Suite 4 is newly renovated with beautiful exposed brick walls, feature fireplace, brand new bathroom with roll-top shower bath, and juliette balcony. It is a light and airy suite with beautiful sash windows.
During hot weather we fit a mobile air conditioning unit in the lounge area of this suite. We also have a ventilation system which provides a constant supply of air, fed from a central air conditioning system and removing warm air from the suite.
The suite has a king size bedroom with luxury hotel mattress, and a separate lounge with a full sized double sofa bed. All linens are 100% cotton and towels are supplied. (Please not we have a limit of 3 adults, or 4 occupants including children, in this suite; we do not accept group bookings).
A travel cot, dog bed and dog bowls are also available in the suite.
This suite is located on the first floor (access up 1 flight of stairs, Number-8 is an historic building so we are unable to provide a lift.)
This suite has a small juliette balcony which you can access through the bedroom. There is a hallway with doors leading into the lounge, bedroom and bathroom.
The bathroom has been beautifully finished with a walk-in shower. In the bathroom we supply Eco Friendly luxurious shower gel, Shampoo, Conditioner and hand wash toiletries.
The lounge has a lovely exposed brick wall with a feature fireplace. The Italian leather sofa bed has a simple roll-over opening and comfortable full sized (4'6") double mattress. There is a dining table with 3 chairs and 2 further folding chairs available. The kitchenette has a Nespresso coffee machine (pods provided), Lavazza milk frother, kettle with welcome tray, free Wifi, Smart TV with Netflix capability, fridge, sink and microwave oven. In the fridge we provide chilled water and fresh milk.
A further communal kitchen is available to guests, in the basement, with washer/dryer, cooker, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and basic pans, oil and sauces, crockery and pans. There is also a dining table and chairs, and a high chair.
In winter, enjoy the personalised heating system allowing you to decide on the temperature of your room. Our state-of-the-art eco ventilation system re-uses heat from our water heating, so rooms are always a comfortable temperature with a constant supply of fresh air. You can always add more warmth to suit your needs by simply turning the dial on the "Nest" device to turn on your radiators. We provide fans, and in summer we add a mobile air conditioning unit, just in case.
Parking is available on request for additional fee of £10. This is for 24 hours from arrival at the Castle Street public car park. (Additional 24 hour passes may be purchased on request). Any additional stay will be charged when exiting the car park, currently £2.80 per hour.
We do not provide breakfast at the premises, however there is a lovely café next door which offers delicious breakfast and lunches and has a patio garden. (The café does not form part of our business and is not included in the price). There are several supermarkets in the vicinity, if you prefer to eat in your suite.
As an historic building we are unable to provide a lift. There are two steps to enter the building.
Number-8 is unattended with 24-hour self check-in. You will be sent your access codes when you book your stay. This is one of six rooms and suites in our beautiful building so communal stairs and landings are shared but you have your suite (hallway, bathroom, bedroom with balcony, and lounge) to yourself.
Check-in is from 3pm. Check-out is at 11am until Covid-19 restrictions on cleaning are lifted. A luggage store is available before and after your booking times. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a late check-out or early check-in and we will always try to accommodate your request, although unable to guarantee it. Housekeeping is provided for longer stays.
