- "We were unaware that we were staying in a maisonette, if known we would’ve asked questions upon booking. Hotels.com needs to update the owners phone number. Communication could’ve been better prior to arrival day, but overall it was great on the day. The apartment was very clean, lovely layout and well presented, although signage could’ve been a bit more professional. The 2 single beds had mattresses that were very uncomfortable, they had the feel of being over 15 years old, dipped in the middle and uncomfortable. The sofa bed in the living room was not fit for 2 people, it squeaked whenever you turned on it and was also very uncomfortable to sleep on. However the double bed was comfortable. The apartment was in a great location, a short 5 minute walk to the seafront and a lovely fish and chip shop on the bottom of the street. Parking was free in a private car park, but it would be a tight squeeze for a larger vehicle, we managed just about with a Kia Sportage. Our party was made up of 5 adults, and we didn’t feel safe at night because there were no means to lock the front door to the building, only that we had an electrical code on our door knob to get into our apartment. It would’ve been nice to have a chain internally to add as an extra security measure. We were not best pleased with the builders that were occupying the apartment upstairs. They woke us up at 6am stamping up and down the stairs, one even decided it was ok to sing at the top his lungs."

We could not find the cutlery as this was in a drawer inside a drawer and was not clear to see. When we advised we may be leaving a day early, we received a message saying if we did not return by a certain time our luggage would be left in the lobby! I paid my hard earned money for a stay at this apartment with my son and grandson and couldn't wait to leave. The host's attitude was disgusting and they communicated in a way that made us feel like raising genuine issues was a big problem for them. - "Our stay was fine for the short time we were there as a place to lay our heads but for the price we paid I was a little disappointed. In all honesty The beds felt like a horse has broken them in, we have all woken up with sore backs today so definitely need adjusting (or even a mattress topper) the curtains were very thin so we were all woken up with the light first thing which was also frustrating as we wanted to make the most of the rest. The fridge also didn’t work (have informed host and they were apologetic but just posting here to ensure it gets fixed for the next guests). Overall the living space was clean and smelt fresh but aesthetically in the second bedroom and bathroom needed a bit of a refresh. Hosts themselves were really great with communication and letting us know how to get there and get keys and provided us with personal numbers for any issues. (Annoyingly my app kept crashing to message them but that’s not their fault at all). Guests are welcome to use the single bedroom provided. They also have full access to the bathroom and the kitchen. There is also a beautiful garden should guests wish to spend time outside.
I also provide a good level of communication with those staying in the house.

You can contact me if you wish via Airbnb, email, or phone. I like to socialise but more importantly to respect your space. Hence, I am always available when needed.

Check-in time is from 4 pm to 11 pm, and check out time by 11 am . However, if you experience any delay, please let me know as soon as possible. The room is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised between guest stays. The bedroom is paired, and all surfaces are wiped with antibacterial cleaning agents.

The room is in a nice ground floor flat which is conveniently located with 5 minute walk to the beach, UK's top amusement park and the longest pleasure pier in the world. It is 10 minute walk to the town centre, but if you don't like walking you will enjoy accessible public transport links. There is plenty of free parking space on side streets. Local shops and restaurants are nearby. Southend East train station is within walking distance. Pick up and drop off is available after my working hours.

The space
The south facing room is at the front of the property and has an antique feel to it. In the room there is a double bed, a wardrobe, a mirror, a dining table, a writing table and a WiFi access.

Guest access
You are welcome to use the kitchen and prepare your own meals. Help yourself to breakfast (tea, coffee, milk, porridge, cereal, fruit). The bathroom is shared usually only with me. You will have your own keys to come and go as you wish.

During your stay
I work full time and am at home only in the evenings. I am happy to socialize but will also respect your privacy. I am welcoming, broad minded and easy going person ready to help if needed.

Other things to note
I have a lovely little dog who is friendly and playful. It is not allowed into guest room but will try to get your attention when you are in the kitchen area. Please don't book my room if you don't like dogs or are allergic to them.

There is a TV monitor which can be used for streaming films from your phone or Ipad if you have a Chromecast app. It doesn't work as TV.

The room faces a street so traffic noise can be heard during rush hours.

There is a double bed in the room, so if a couple are used to sleeping in a king size it might feel narrow for them.

The space
Our residence was built during the 1930s period and takes the form of a semi-detached, elegant white Art Deco home nestled within a peaceful avenue.

The design of our dwelling spans across two floors. Upon entering through a side door, the ground floor unveils a dining room and kitchen to the right, while the left side is occupied by the living room. This floor also provides a cloakroom and a visitor's bathroom for added convenience. Additionally, the ground floor boasts a spacious garden where you're more than welcome to relax, dine, drink and unwind.

Ascending the staircase brings you to the first floor, where you'll find our main bedroom, two designated Airbnb guest rooms. The upper floor also encompasses a fully appointed bathroom complete with a bathtub, shower, and toilet.

Having taken up residence in our home in August of 2022, we are currently dedicated to the task of transforming it into a genuine representation of our own personal sanctuary.
