Magnificent!!!" - "If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing location with amazing sunsets then this is the place to stay. The hosts Petra and Matt were so helpful and welcoming. The Shepherds hut was even better than expected, every little detail and more has been thought about. The hut is set in a perfect location to take in the distant views and sunsets, yet with the upmost of privacy. We had planned to go to a local pub one evening for dinner but we were enjoying the hut so much that we decided to stay in both evenings. Lots of local walks accessible from the hut (the hosts also provide a folder with maps of local walks). Couple of lovely pubs within easy walking distance. A Secluded Forest Stay on the South Downs Way, welcome to Tiny Pots Woodland Retreat
Situated at the halfway point along the infamous South Downs Way, Tiny Pots Woodland Retreat is ideal for anyone wanting an escape into nature. Created to celebrate the simple, beautiful things, at Tiny Pots you can log off, lift your mood and flood your senses with the forest. We invite you to take a digital detox. This is where off-grid living meets luxury.
The space
Tiny Pots is a unique space, built with reclaimed materials, free from concrete. The exterior was crafted from a repurposed oak boat shed, and many items, including our front door, were salvaged. Our cabin's foundation was made using ground screws, telegraph poles and steel beams to ensure minimal environmental impact.
90 minutes from London and less than 30 minutes from Brighton, at Tiny Pots you can expect only to hear squirrels gathering fallen conkers or horses in the nearby fields. The views of the South Downs National Park surround Tiny Pots, the floor to ceiling glass invites the outside in.
There is a comfy king bed, raised up to take in the views of the rolling hills. We have a full kitchen, a waterfall shower and blackout curtains and blinds for blissful sleep.
We have a spacious deck, for stargazing and forest bathing, a barbecue for al fresco dining, a fire pit for late night deep and meaningful connections, as well as a separate private Yoga Shala and outside cold water therapy shower.
Tiny Pots was named for its parent property; Tin Pots, but there’s nothing small to be found in the big way this space is curated.
Restore, Relax, Retreat.

Other things to note
1 night stays are sometimes available, please request.
We love to host pets, please let us know how many furry friends you are bringing so we can ensure there's enough biscuits to go around - pet stays are chargeable.
Upon further research about the South Downs National Park, and what it means to be a part of an International Dark Skies Reserve (IDSR), we made the decision to disable the use of our pathlights after dark immediately. As we approach summer, we are confident this will not impact stays negatively. It also allows us some time to thoroughly research a non-invasive solution to lighting our pathway for the darker seasons to come.
Feel free to use the BBQ, but it must be left clean. Tools and cleaning supplies are under the sink. It is a gas grill, there are matches and lighters in the kitchen drawer closest to the fridge if the ignition is not working well.

Ideal for couples, small groups, solo travellers and business travellers.

Guests have two decking areas and a private garden to themselves. We have recently added a trellis fence to enclose part of the garden for the sole use of the cabin and to ensure the safety of children.

Other things to note
Ropley is a small rural village which has a well-stocked village shop, cricket pitch, tennis courts and is on the famous Watercress Line, home to working vintage steam engines, including Thomas the Tank and friends.
The pretty market town of Alresford is just 4 miles away, with a host of fabulous boutique shops, such as Moda Rosa, Hetre, Alresford Linen Co, Roxtons and The Long Barn plus a handful of Interior Design shops. There are also several great places to eat such as The Town House, Caracoli, Pulpo Negro and The Long Barn, as well as a number of excellent pubs serving food: The Globe on the Lake, The Bell and The Horse and Groom.
Close by is the neo-classical mansion, The Grange at Northington, home to The Grange Festival of Opera and Dance, held during the summer months and also the National Trust house at Hinton Ampner.
Winchester is 9 miles away and, as the medieval former capital of England, boasts a beautiful cathedral, the famous Great Hall, which houses King Arthur’s legendary round table, and numerous historical museums. Ambling through the narrow streets of the ancient part of the city, along the banks of the River Itchen, is a must.
Winchester has also become something of a culinary destination in recent years, with Rick Stein’s, The Ivy, The Chesil Rectory, Hotel du Vin, Wykeham Arms and Raymond le Blanc’s Brasserie, to mention but a few.
There’s also the Theatre Royal and the Everyman independent cinema, where you can have wine and delicious food brought to your own comfy sofa while you enjoy the film! Every other Sunday, Winchester is also host to the largest Farmer’s Market in Europe and in December there’s the Christmas Market and Cathedral Ice Rink.
We’re on the edge of the South Downs National Park and a perfect place to start the 100 mile ancient trail of the South Downs Way, which starts in Winchester and ends near Eastbourne. There’s also very easy access to the numerous, beautiful south coast beaches, as well as the (misleadingly-named) New Forest, with 140 miles of track through ancient woodland, heathland and coastal areas for hiking, bicycling and horse riding, where you will wander among free-roaming ponies, donkeys, cattle and deer. You can also visit the 18th century shipbuilding village at Buckler’s Hard on the stunning Beaulieu River or the nearby Beaulieu National Motor Museum.
On the coast, in the other direction eastwards, is the Cathedral city of Chichester, home of the Chichester Festival Theatre, one of the UK’s flagship regional theatres. The Weald and Downland Living Museum nearby is also well worth a visit, as well as West Dean Gardens, Pallant House Gallery, and Goodwood: motor racing circuit, racecourse and aerodrome; home of The Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood. Portsmouth historic docks are also not far away, where you can visit HMS Victory and HMS Warrior, as well as the National Museum of the Royal Navy or go on a harbour tour.
Jane Austen’s House Museum, at Chawton, is just 15 minutes away and worth a visit. The Hattingley Valley Vineyard, is also just 15 minutes away, specialises in producing sparkling wines using traditional methods, and run tours and tasting events from April through to September. The Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery, is half an hour away and also offers tours, cocktail tasting and masterclasses.
