Beautifully restored cottage from the 16th century.

We are a French family living in a house on the same grounds. We will have the garden in common but you will have your privacy in the cottage.
We are 3 miles from the sea. The cottage will be a great base to explore The New Forest in the West (30 min), Portsmouth in the East (20 minutes away) and Winchester in the North (25min).
The space
The cottage dates from Shakespeare's times but has been totally restored.
On the ground floor, you will have a living room and a bathroom (with bath tub and WC) ; the bedroom is on the first floor. The place is perfect for a couple.
There is NO KITCHEN and no TV but Wifi ;-).
You will find tea, milk and coffee to welcome you but note that NO BREAKFAST is served. You have a kettle and a fridge at your disposal. For breakfast or dinner, we will be happy to give you recommendations for restaurants or takeaways in the area.
Free parking on our grounds.

Palm Tree Cottage is a delightful, peaceful retreat in the historic village of Titchfield.
The space
Palm Tree Cottage is a detached building in the host's garden. It is a light and airy double room with its’ own ensuite wet room. High quality bed linen, towels and shampoo are provided along with facilities for making tea/ coffee and toast. There is a fridge and crockery so you may store perishables and eat a take away meal if you wish.
Palm Tree Cottage is just a five minute walk from Titchfield village centre where you can find a small CoOp store that bakes fresh croissants / bread each morning. We do not provide breakfast, just tea and coffee.

Feel free to explore the top garden (north) one you can see from the studio. There are folding chairs in the summer house at the top of the garden by the pond for you to use . Please return them there. There is a bench on your left as you come in up the drive where you can sit and admire the view.
The lower garden (south towards the sea) is private so please respect our privacy.

We have a young cat called Indy who is very inquisitive and loves exploring so please keep car doors, studio door closed. Please check your car when leaving as she is very quick and loves going in cars… or sitting on the roof!!

The Beach House is a newly listed, self contained, nautical themed one-bedroom annexe situated within a two minute walk to the lovely beach at Hill Head. The annexe has been newly decorated and comes with private parking. The property provides easy access to surrounding areas such as Lee-on-Solent and Portsmouth and is ideally situated for walkers being on the England Coastal path and close to the South Downs Way. Families welcome, property sleeps 3-4 with sofa bed in lounge area. Dogs welcome.
The space
The Beach House is a spacious one bedroomed annexe with a large open plan kitchen and lounge area. There are 2 bathrooms, one with shower and one with bath. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The property also has a double sofa bed in the lounge with full bedding and towels provided for up to 4 people. You can enjoy a 50 inch tv and tv in the bedroom also. There is outside seating both under cover and in a small enclosed space just in front of the property. The annexe has dedicated parking for up to 2 cars. Dogs are very welcome!!

Access to the property is via a driveway at the side of the main house (#60). There is off road parking for the Beach House with space for one car at the end of the driveway in front of the small planted trellis area.
Other things to note
Hill Head is a beautiful location with lots of places to visit in the surrounding areas. The area enjoys the seasons with fabulous sunsets all year around, cold sunny crisp days in the winter and some spectacular storms that pass by on the occasional rainy day. Watching the weather change from the beach is magical. The beach directly in front of the property can be accessed via a slipway within a minute’s walk and dogs are allowed on this beach all year around. Lee-on-Solent beach allows dogs in the winter months with the right hand side of Hill Head beach allowing dogs in the summer months (to protect the winter birds), allowing for plenty of dog walking space all year around.
There are several places to eat and drink with a local pub just a 10 minute walk away and Stubbington village with a couple of bars and cafes a 15 minute walk. Lee-on-Solent is a 2 min drive/20 min walk away and there is also a 5 * rated Chinese takeaway just 2 doors down for those evenings when you don’t want to venture far!!
There is a regular bus service with a bus stop on the same road as the property. Buses will take you as far as Portsmouth - a full timetable is available in the welcome book.
Further afield, you can catch the passenger ferry at Gosport over to Portsmouth and visit Gun Wharf Quays with shops, cinema, bowling alley and several bars and restaurants. You will also find the historic shipyard of Portsmouth in the same location housing the famous Victory, Warrior and remains of the Mary Rose. For a full day out you can also jump on the Isle of Wight ferry and nip over to the island for the day - ferries go to Fishbourne and Ryde from Portsmouth.
Heading West and in the opposite direction you can follow the coast around to Warsash and hop on a passenger ferry over to the fishing village of Hamble. And further up the coast a little more, you will come to the New Forest national park where you will experience the friendly New Forest ponies. The village of Beaulieu and famous motor museum (for James Bond fanatics) can also be found in the New Forest.
The area sits on the boundary of the South Downs National Park which offers fabulous walks, the Meon Valley old railway line being one to name which can take you all the way from the historic village of Wickham to Alton via lots of pretty Meon valley villages.

The Annexe at The Crossways is a detached self-contained annexe, next to but completely separate from the main house, comprising most of the downstairs and all the upstairs above the garage space. The Annexe has its own private garden area for your sole use, with outdoor furniture, a barbeque (with charcoal provided) a little chimenea and rugs to keep cosy in the evenings. You are welcome to use the tennis court – basic racquets and balls are provided.

The Annexe enjoys a private entranceway area through the large garage door, providing very useful and secure storage for bikes, golf clubs, wellies, etc. This leads to a newly installed fully equipped modern kitchen including electric hob, oven, fridge (with small freezer), microwave and an integrated washing machine. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking with the addition of a Nespresso machine, and we provide a selection of simple breakfast items along with tea and coffee for your first morning.
There is also a bathroom with shower on this level with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and soap.
Upstairs is a large and sunny room with lovely views over the garden and countryside which can be enjoyed from the south facing balcony. There is a cosy sitting area with 55’ Sony Bravia TV including Netflix and a free movies service, alongside a dining table overlooking the views. At the other end of the space is a bedroom area with a king size bed with award winning “Emma” mattress and hypoallergenic bedding with Egyptian cotton sheets, dressing table/work desk and a large open wardrobe.

The local area
Wickham is a short drive or 5 minute walk away, it is a thriving village with several restaurants, pubs and shops. With ten restaurants/cafes there is plenty of choice for casual or more formal dining, as well as a large well stocked CoOp (open long hours) and several takeaways. Details are provided at the property, and we are happy to advise.
In early August the Wickham Music Festival is right next to the property, a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed and charming festival without the camping!
Only a couple of minutes’ walk from the property is a popular farm shop stocking the usual local meats but also vegetables, dairy products, artisan breads, wines and deli items.
Things to do.
Close to the South Downs National Park, the area has lots of walks and bike rides nearby, with several golf courses, and beautiful Hampshire villages worth a visit. The south coast is only a 15 minute drive away offering views of the Isle of Wight and water sports.
We are 20 minutes’ drive from Portsmouth with its Historic Dockyard including Nelson’s “Victory” and the Tudor “Mary Rose” museum, next door to outlet shopping and restaurants at the Gunwharf Quays waterfront centre.
Winchester is around half an hour away (with Marwell Zoo on the way) which offers a wealth of historical interest and the beautiful cathedral, as well as sophisticated dining including Rick Stein’s restaurant and The Ivy, along with shopping and a regular farmers’ market and artisan stalls.
Southampton to the west and Chichester to the east are both around 30 minutes away. Also within half an hour is the New Forest featuring Beaulieu’s Motor museum and Palace, along with Exbury gardens. Another popular trip is Jane Austin’s House in Chawton.

Access to the bungalow is via the main gate at the entrance to the main house and driveway. From there, you can access the track to the bungalow where you can park directly in your own designated space directly outside — making it convenient for loading and unloading luggage.
The main gate is kept closed for your peace of mind and added security, but we’ll provide you with instructions on how to let yourself in upon your arrival. The path from the parking area to the bungalow is well-lit and easy to navigate, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to your stay. We do have dogs in the main house and they have access to a fenced area of the garden 24 hours a day. They will bark when you drive or walk by but please don’t be alarmed, they are noisy but friendly.

We want to make sure you’re completely comfortable during your stay, but there are a few things we’d appreciate you keeping in mind:
• We have dogs on the property — they are friendly but may be curious. They can be loud when playing and they may jump up at you, if you have any issues with dogs let us know in advance so we can work around you.
• The main house is home to the hosts and a Ukrainian family also live on the land in their own separate accommodations. Feels free to say hello when out in the garden but please don’t enter or knock on any of the other buildings unless their is an emergency.
• The track alongside the bungalow is used to access the horse stables and the owners will drive up and down twice a day. While you may see horses and riders, please do not feed or pet the horses, for their health and safety.
• Feel free to enjoy the garden and patio area, but we ask that you respect the fence boundary that encloses the horses’ field and avoid crossing it.
