Welcome to Jay’s Big Sky, an elegant, spacious, home on the water. This property is the perfect place to rest by the lakeshore, hang and play with family, and explore the chic little town of Narrowsburg, which is just 2 minutes away by car. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. For winter fun, those of you who like to ski, the house is only 17 miles from Ski Big Bear, Masthope Mountain, which is a great local family resort with 18 trails, 7 lifts and 3 Magic Carpet lifts.

With a large modern kitchen, dining for 10, and plentiful fireside seating, the main level offers expansive water views and a spacious gathering spot for family and friends. Also on this level are the three bedrooms and all three bathrooms.

The principal bedroom has water views from the king size bed, its own seating and work area, and a private bathroom. A glass slider gives direct access to the deck. The second bedroom, with a queen size bed, also enjoys a lake view. Across the hall, the third bedroom faces south towards the apple trees, and is perfect for bird watching.

Two additional bathrooms are on this floor; one with a shower/bathtub combo and a third which serves as a powder room for the common spaces.

Downstairs is a dream entertainment space. Whatever you would like to do to relax is available. Table tennis/ping pong, darts, a pool table, and exercise equipment, can all be enjoyed as well as a large screen television, tons of lounging options, and perhaps most importantly, plenty of spare space for little ones to run around and play during those times when they can’t be outdoors. There’s even a quiet room off to the side where a squishy sofa begs for a good book or a nap.

Outside, the lake takes center stage. At 27 acres but with less than 20 properties surrounding it, this quiet lake is a wildlife refuge, with plenty of eagles, falcons, fish and small furry creatures calling it home. A large lawn separates the deck from water`s edge, and a shallow lead-in gives plenty of opportunity for safely cooling off in the water.

The deck itself has loungers and a dining table, and is adjoined by a lower-level patio, with more seating and a hammock. A nearby fire pit is there for evening enjoyment.

Narrowsburg offers boutiques, bars, restaurants and many summer festivals. Only two minutes away, it’s close enough for morning coffee, lazy lunches, and evening drinks. For the more adventurous, Narrowsburg is situated on the Delaware river, which is well known for tubing and the multitudes of wildlife.

This is the perfect Sullivan County spot for family reunions, friendly get togethers, or even quiet couples time by the water.

Utility Outages: As Upstate New York can see its’ fair share of inclement weather and is primarily a tree rich area with overhead power lines, please know we do not assume responsibility for utility outages during your stay. If electric, water or Wi-Fi service is impacted, we do not refund. We do keep emergency supplies at the house, and, of course, if an outage were to persist for longer than 8 hours we would allow a cancellation without penalty.

Weather: During the winter months there may be ice, snow, and hazardous conditions. We recommend driving a vehicle with AWD or 4WD. Please ask about the plowing schedule for the house. Most driveways are plowed at or before 3” or more accumulation but we cannot guarantee an exact time for the plowing as the crews are often unreachable and out of cell service areas for much of the day.

This house has a steep / and or long driveway and extra caution is warranted. Please allow extra time when departing. Upstate Place does supply snow shovels and pet-friendly salt at each of our properties for extra safety.

Animals and Pests: The house is in a rural environment and surrounded by countryside, farms and wildlife. Although it’s wonderful to observe the eagles, deer, bears, and adorable chipmunks, it can also mean you will hear coyotes and foxes at night, and encounter the less cute mice, flies, snakes, ants, bees and ticks. There is very little to be done about it, but by keeping doors closed or screened and food in its appropriate storage, unwelcome guests will stay outside where they belong. All our properties benefit from scheduled pest control, but we are in a natural environment and we can not fortify the houses completely.

Cleaning Guarantee: We are very proud of our housekeeping team who go beyond both Airbnbs General Cleaning Guidelines and Airbnb’s Enhanced Cleaning Process recommendations. Because of their hard work and high professional standards, we are able to guarantee our cleaning to our guests. We take a time stamped video of the cleaned property and do not refund for any small issues found during a stay. Instead, should a guest feel that something is amiss or needs additional attention, we will gladly have a housekeeper attend the home to take care of it within 12 hours of an issue being reported.

This home may have weekly lawn and trash services as well as monthly pest control service. Service providers may access the exterior front yard and back yard during your stay to ensure the home is properly maintained.

Additional Fees: Depending on their requirements, guests will be subject to the following additional fees

Upon booking, guests will be provided with a guidebook which will list all house rules, access information, wifi access, along with recommendations for the area.

The Cabin on Calkins Creek" is a great way to escape and relax. Enjoy your coffee on the porch listening to the babbling creek. Read a book or listen to your favorite vinyl in the loft. Enjoy a crisp evening around a fire and look up at the stars. Take a ride on our bikes or fish in the creek. Delaware River is just 5 miles to kayak, raft or canoe. Local towns offer antiques, unique eateries and breweries. Bethel Woods the original site of "Woodstock" just a short drive.
The space
A true log cabin situated on Calkin's Creek. The loft is a great reading spot, listen to your favorite vinyl or play a game. Fully equipped kitchen and 2 outdoor grills, smart TV and WiFi in an open concept first floor. There are 2 bikes for your enjoyment as well as yard games, including corn hole, ladder golf and yardzee. Basement has a dart board. Best of all get away and enjoy the natural beauty of Wayne County.

Perched in the woods next to the Delaware river, this secluded cabin is the perfect getaway. The best part of this cozy nostalgic cabin is the nature that surrounds it & access to the river. If you love the outdoors, this place is for you!
The cabin is a wonderful and special place to us. It has a retro vibe with a good olde cabin feel. Being located in the woods, you may have a few wild visitors - bald eagles and hawks, bears, snakes, racoons, and porcupines have all been seen!

The space
The cabin has three bedrooms (queen, full, twin+twin) that are tucked away from the open living space which has a kitchen, fireplace, and big windows looking toward the towering white pines before the river. The unfinished basement contains a Finnish Sauna we love to utilize in all seasons and an additional bathroom. It is an open concept design with a lot of retro / older charm - large windows, exposed beams, a brick fireplace. The property has a deck with a grill, a firepit by the river, and plenty of lawn to play games and soak in the sun. While it is tempting to stay home, the surrounding area has a lot to offer- the house is a 5 minute drive from Narrowsburg, NY - a quaint river town with restaurants, a coffee shop, antique stores and art galleries including the Tusten Theatre.

Skiing: We're a 20 minute drive from Tanglewood and Big Bear ski areas. Also, it is 30 minutes from excellent cross country skiing at Promise Land State Park.

The River: The cabin is on an exceptional section of the Delaware River. Fishing, swimming, and canoeing / kayaking from the property is encouraged! Life Jackets are required by law! Please respect the river and ensure everyone is adequately safe!
Two miles upstream in Narrowsburg, the Delaware River reaches it's record depth (~113 ft.) at the Big Eddy. Adventurous tubers may put in here and float several hours back to the house. Mellower tubers may prefer walking a few hundred feet upstream and doing some laps. If you’re looking for a more intense experience on the water, reach out to the local outfitter - Lander's River Trips - to raft at Skinners Falls.

No parties allowed whatsoever and no smoking inside. Please keep pets off the furniture.. Please treat this cabin as you would your own home. Thanks!

Guest access
If you don't have AWD, please park above the driveway on the side of the road (there's a pull-out section that is fine to park cars). The driveway is fairly steep and can be difficult to get out of!

Feel free to use the fireplace and the wood stove - firewood is available with the property!

Other things to note
- The cabin is located on a private road, and we have private trash service come Wednesdays. Please ensure that the outdoor bin is always clipped shut for bears. There is a recycling center not far - please attempt to recycle if that's your style.
- While we’ve never been policed, a fishing license is required for the Delaware River.
- Nature & Cabin Expectations: This is a cabin in the woods and has an older vibe to it. Being in the woods, it may be buggy at times and certain cellular providers struggle to get reception while other providers have full bars. If you are a high maintenance individual, this might not be the place for you. However, with this remote cabin - you can expect to find amazing nature and serenity. There are plenty of bald eagles, beavers, and fish on the river, and sometimes you can find a porcupine, deer, bear, or a multitude of other animals roaming the land. The property grounds are beautiful to explore with massive pines providing sanctuary and retreat from the business of life.
