Guest Reviews:

- "This place exceeded my expectations. Communication with the owner was outstanding. I will definitely be returning." - "Just a beautiful peaceful place. Absolutely spotless. We wished we were staying longer. We will be back. Thank you for sharing your property with others. " - "Wonderful family friendly place in an amazing location." - "My best friend and I take our children every year on an overnight getaway in the summer. This year we decided to stay more local and this place was exactly what we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated having back up toilet paper and paper towels (something I have taken for granted in the past!) The kids loved the air hockey table and the bunk beds. All the little touches, like the fresh cut flowers and maple syrup, made it feel like home. I will say, what we are most appreciative of, was the kindling and firewood! There are so many times that firewood is an afterthought when we aren't camping, so this really made our night! We will absolutely be back again!"

The surroundings are stunning - we wish we'd had more time there to enjoy them. Ken, the host, is very responsive and accommodating. We would stay there again if we are ever back in that area!" - "I was drawn to the home because it seemed beautiful and serene in the listing - it was. The communication and eagerness to make our stay perfect started before I completed my booking and it continued upon and after departure. It's too bad we had to leave. The ocean (Long Island Sound) is about 20 minutes away - very pretty and usable beach. It's about 25-30 minutes to New Haven. Seasonally full of flowers. Small ponds and Koi fish add to the properties beauty. It is a cabin in the woods, and it was awesome. Not a Four Seasons resort but it was close. Very comfortable temperatures when we were there in late May. Highly recommended!"

The small kitchen area includes a sink, coffee and tea set up, small well stocked refrigerator and complementary snacks and beverages. Guest Reviews:

- "My husband and I stayed here to relax, rejuvenate, and celebrate his birthday. We had a wonderful time! He really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the sound of the creek. Our dog, Gambit, loved laying near the pellet stove to warm up on those cold nights. The hosts were/are wonderful and are very attentive and responsive! They have small touches here and there that really make the stay special (like the dog bowls and treats). We are already looking forward to our next stay whether it be here or at the other properties they own! "

The Little Lake Cabin with hot tub
Cabin
New Fairfield, Connecticut, USA

Named one of the best Airbnbs in CT by Business Insider, The Little Lake Cabin is the perfect place to soak in the magic of nature by relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the lake. The cabin is a place to slow down and reconnect. Spend your days on the lake, exploring nearby towns, wineries & antique shops & your nights in the hot tub, by the fire pit roasting s`mores and gazing up at the stars.

Find us on IG @thelittlecabins

Our renovated 1940s cabin is located in a small lake community across from Candlewood lake, and the property backs up to the woods of Squantz Pond State Park. Although we have neighbors, with a 6ft privacy fence on either side of the property and the trees and mountain behind the cabin, you will feel as if you are secluded in the woods without being far from everything you need.

You will have seasonal beach/lake access during your stay, where you can grab our kayaks for an epic day out on the water or spend your day relaxing on the beach. We have 2 single kayaks and a double kayak for you to use. (Late April- late October) The lake is 3 mins away, and Squantz Pond is only 1 min away.

Outside features include a wood fired stone fire pit (s`mores essentials included), Weber BBQ grill, a patio with a large outdoor dining table with plenty of seating, an outdoor shower (open Late April-November) perfect for rinsing off a day at the lake, and a hot tub open year round ready to make your evening even more relaxing. You can even take the kayaks out on the lake for a fun-filled day on the water. You’ll have seasonal views of the lake and surrounding mountains (late fall/winter) but can enjoy the sounds of boats on the water most of the year. The outdoor space truly turns into a quiet magical place as the sun begins to set.

Inside, our cozy cabin has tons of natural light, perfect for quiet mornings. The living room exudes relaxation and comfort with a large couch, electric fireplace, and TV with all the streaming services you’d need. If you want to unplug you`ll find plenty of board games and books.
The stylish and cute kitchen is complete with everything you’d need during your stay. With sustainability in mind, the beautiful bathroom with a walk-in shower is stocked with Public Goods toiletries, and cozy robes will be waiting to make your stay even more relaxing.
There are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, closets, and comfortable bedding. You’ll wake up to the sounds of birds, and rustling leaves from the woodland animals that visit in the mornings.

**Please note**— The cabin is small (just under 500 sqft) Its coziness makes for a very unique stay and as many guests have said— it’s small but mighty! You definitely won’t be lacking with amenities and the sounds of nature around you.

The cabin is meant for making memories to carry with you.
We can’t wait to make your stay magical!

The entire house & property is available for you to use. You can access the home 24/7 during your stay with door keypad.

The house is located in a community across from Candlewood Lake. The town of New Fairfield has so many great restaurants and shops and great people to make you feel welcome! We are also located near many other neighboring towns that you should also explore.

We have hiked all over the area, so we will be happy to provide you with our favorite nearby hikes, restaurants & other things to do nearby.

Kent, CT (one of our favorite towns) is less than 30 mins away
Also check out the towns of Sherman, Washington, and Litchfield.
The Elephants Trunk Flea Market in New Milford is a MUST! It is open every Sunday (April- early December)
We will be happy to provide you with our favorite nearby hikes, restaurants & other things to do in the area.

We would recommend having a car to explore the area.

—We have a wildflower lawn on the left side of the property. During the summer and fall there are tall grasses and flowers, so if the lawn looks a little wild, that’s why! We are trying to support our pollinators!!

—There is parking for 1 or 2 cars. Absolutely NO street parking. The lake communities have narrow roads, so street parking will block access to our neighbor`s driveway.

—We are pet friendly, but kindly ask you to let us know if you would like to bring any pets.

—The nearby beaches do not allow pets in the summer. Squantz Pond allows dogs October- April. We are always happy to provide pet friendly recommendations, so just let us know!

—Squantz Pond charges a parking fee for out of state plates from April-October

—The ductless AC & Heat is in the main living space, it keeps the cabin quite cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We recommend leaving the bedroom and bathroom door open whenever possible to allow for maximum airflow to those spaces.

—The cabin is in the woods, so please expect to see animals, bugs & insects during your stay. That’s the price we pay for being in nature :-)

—The cabin is pet friendly, and although the it is thoroughly cleaned before each stay we cannot guarantee it will be 100% allergen free. If you have pet allergies please keep this in mind when booking and contact us with any questions!

—The refrigerator is from 1947 and original to the house, it’s super charming but does have some limitations. The freezer is more of an icebox and often freezes over. It’s small and will hold trays of ice/frozen pizza/popsicles. We do provide a yeti-type cooler outside to store all your frozen goods! All you need is ice :-)

—The cabin is in a small lake community, and we do have neighbors on either side. Our property is pretty wooded so it is and feels very private, but be aware that the cabin is not extremely secluded in the woods.

—The cabin is small, and not suitable for more than 4 people. We love its coziness!!

—The roads in our community are very narrow. Please be mindful of the speed limit, and other cars that may need to pass.

—The outdoor shower is open seasonally— Late April- Late October/ Early November

—We DO NOT provide firewood for the fire pit, although sometimes previous guests leave anything leftover. Stop & Shop and the Food Center in town usually have bundles for sale, as well as gas stations nearby.

More about the space:
-Kitchen/Dining area:
The outdoor kitchen situated on the lower-level deck of the treehouse comes with a 2-burner stove, a sink with running water, sponge and soap for washing/cooking. The outdoor kitchen has electricity. We also provide a cooler for your convenience. There is a French press and an electric percolator available to make your coffee.

The basics for grilling, utensils, salt, pepper, cups and plates are all provided. There is a gas BBQ grill available. A head lamp or solar powered light is recommended to aid cooking at night , but the kitchen does have lighting.

It is very important that you do not leave food out unattended. Birds, mice, squirrels, raccoons etc. will very likely get into it. Even food that is in a plastic bag is at risk, so your best bet is to keep everything in the cooler.

There are three grocery stores nearby within 1- 2.5 miles radius (Caraluzzi’s, Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s).

-Trash and Recycling are available:
We ask that when you check out, you ensure that your trash is in the can and the lid is fitted. If you’ve made more than the cans can fit, please use the spare bags provided and leave them in the cabin. If they are left outside animals may rip the bags open and strew trash around. We really appreciate you keep your recycling clean and separate from your trash.

-Lighting:
Dom’s Treehouse has electricity both in the cabin and in the kitchen. If you require more lighting, so we recommend that you bring additional solar or battery-operated lanterns. We ask you to be mindful not to overload the electrical power supply. Manage your electricity usage to prevent circuit overload by turning off cabin and bathroom lights, fan, air conditioning when not being used, and refrain from plugging additional devices that draw more electricity than the circuit can safely handle. But please keep in mind that we DO NOT ALLOW CANDLES OR OTHER FLAMED SOURCE LIGHTING inside cabin and bathroom.

-Parking:
There is a designated space to park your vehicle upon arrival. From there, the units are about a hundred feet away.

-Bathroom and Shower:
The bathroom for the treehouse is equipped with an on-demand propane heater for hot water. We provide towels and washcloths, soap, shampoo, cleaning supplies, to our guests. We exhort you to be water conscious as it comes from our well and therefore is from a limited source.

-Fires:
There is a bonfire pit located on the premises. If you bring wood, it MUST be purchased in Connecticut per state law. However, there is enough firewood on the site for you to use.

In the unlikely event that we are having a particularly dry summer and there is a statewide fire ban, we will be enforcing it. We also ask that if it is extremely windy, that you abstain from having fires.

Fires can ONLY be made in designated fire pit and must be extinguished properly with either water or sand. Please this is very crucial because although a fire looks like it is out, sparks can still fly out if it gets windy and cause new fires to ignite.

-Cell Service and Wi-Fi:
Cell phone signal is pretty good.
We offer complimentary Wi-Fi.

-Check in and Check-out:
Please inform us in advance of your expected arrival time.

Guests are required to show a photo identification upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Check-in time is 3:00pm. Early check-in is free based on availability.

Requests must be made at the time of booking and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis depending on availability.

-Check out protocol:
Checkout instructions are noted down in the manual in the treehouse cabin and the greenhouse, but here is a preamble:

We charge a cleaning fee of $100. Fee will increase for longer stay of 7 nights or more. However, we ask everyone to strip their beds of linens and place them, along with towels, in the laundry bags provided. This is a covid safety practice for us. Additionally, we also ask you not to leave dirty dishes.

There is a form for you to leave feedback as well as letting us know if anything was damaged during your stay.

Please make sure Treehouse cabin and Greenhouse doors are closed and leave the keys in the box provided.

Please ensure that the grill propane tank is tightened off and the cover placed on the grill. If you had a morning fire, please make sure it is properly extinguished.

Please leave everything in the space you found them initially. That will make it easier for the cleaning crew to retrieve and prepare in a timely fashion for the next guest.

Check out time is 11:00 am, please text or email to let us know that you vacated the premises.

-Guest access
The cabin is positioned on 3 acres of forest, and all is available for you to explore. Please do not go beyond trespassing lines.

-Wild Life:
There are no dangerous animals living in the woods. If you ever come across a black bear, they are quite timid creatures and are rarely aggressive. However, it is useful to know how to behave when encountering bears, to help keep you safe and provide peace of mind. Sometimes at night you can hear foxes, but they will not bother you.

-Other things to note
Packing List suggestions:
o good walking shoes
o flashlights or headlamps
o additional towels /washcloths/toiletries (biodegradable please)
o layered clothes for warmth, or extra blankets

Other Tid Bits:
Please refer to your guest manual located in your cabin for more information.

For tips on restaurants, and other things to do please check out our Guidebook.

******Last but certainly not least, if you've made it this far...******
We want to emphasize that Dom’s Treehouse is not an official campground. This is just an organic getaway alternative that we put together to cater to nature lovers and campers. We're constantly refining and adjusting to improve it. Your feedback is certainly welcome so we can continue to improve and enhance guest satisfaction and experience for the better.

Our place is a safe space for LGBTQ guests.

Accommodations include 5 private cottages and a large main Lodge for gathering. Local catering is available for group meals and will provide meals adaptable to different diets. However you can take care of your own meals in the large Lodge kitchen and the 5 kitchens in the cabins.

The 5 acre island's canopy trees, blueberry bushes, rocky outcrops and large grassy field provide numerous spaces for activities and events. A huge covered deck overlooking the lake provides protection regardless of the weather, and is attached to the Lodge for easy access. All of these spaces lend well for yoga, meditation, nature, wellness and other types of retreats, reunions or family groups.

There are 5 guesthouses on the Island, A-frame, Bay House, Chalet, Deck House and Captain Cabin-which sit on the lakeshore of the Island, all within an easy stroll yet distinctly private from one another. Each cabin has a living room, a kitchen area and 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Each cabin has a refrigerator, a stove, a kitchen sink and plates and utensils. Also each cabin has its own dock and at least one water front deck to enjoy the view. There are plenty of windows. Each guesthouse has water, electricity and other facilities.

We provide the facility which includes kitchens, stoves, refrigerators, pots and pans in each guest house. You take care of all other arrangements i.e. food, bedding etc. However if you rent the entire Island we provide sheets and towels in addition.

If you have a boat this is ideal, you can use the dock at your cabin for your boat. Rowboats are available. The recreational opportunities of a lake are available: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, standup boards and more. On the Island are volleyball, badminton, bocce, croquet, horseshoes and other land sports.

When the entire Island is rented there is a caretaker on the Island to help with the facilities. The Island is supplied with electricity by an off the grid solar system with a back up generator when nightime use exceeds the storage. The water in the Lodge and cabins is pumped from a well on the Island.

We have a home on the shore near the Island. You park your car at our home and we take you to the Island on our pontoon boat with all your luggage.

This is our home and we expect our guests to treat it with respect and not to harm it in any way. We do allow pets but expect them to be well behaved and cleaned up after.
